Hey Porn Stars … Don’t Make the “JILLIAN” Mistake

As a porn star, your name is everything.  It is your brand.  It is you.  It is your means to make money.  Fans know you by your name.  Agents book you by your name.  I mean it’s a pretty simple concept … without a name, how would people know who you are, right?

Your name needs to be unique to you and that is why it’s better to have a first and last name.  Sure they are a lot of Jenna’s out there, but there is only one Jenna Jameson.
But don’t just take my word for it.

Let’s look at the case of the former Good Day LA host, Jillian Barberie Reynolds has been working hard these last 10 years to build up her career on a national level.  On the local scene, she had more than made it.  Everyone knew who Jillian Barberie Reynolds was.  But on a national level she wasn’t quite as famous.  But she got lucky and she did start to expand her brand nationally.  She even got not one but two different gigs as a weight watchers spokesperson and on a few reality TV shows.

The problem is, when she started accepting these international jobs she often times would only identify herself as just Jillian.

Well it turns out if people are looking for a famous Jillian they would find Jillian Michaels and not her.  Why?  Well because the other Jillian is far more famous.  It was a huge branding mistake and has no doubt cost her a lot of promotion for her brand.

So, what does all of this mean to you?

It means get a unique, easy to remember name and use it.  Don’t go around just using your friend name.  Remember your full name is your brand so use it every chance you get.
If you search IAFD you will find there are 30 different porn stars who have used or are currenly using the name “Audrey”.   But you know what?  There is only one Audrey Hollander.  That is how her fans know her.  That is how they identify with her brand.

Just something to keep that in mind next time you are working on building your brand.

How many people Google’d You Today?

Companies pay search engines like Google money to advertise every time people like me and you search for specific keywords.  The more people per month search a specific keyword or keyword phrase, the more money Google and other search engines can charge that company for that ad.

The interesting part of that whole dynamic is that is also gives us a unique insight into the popularity of your favorite porn stars.   Sites like Fame Registry use this data to help determine the overall popularity of your favorite stars.

So I decided to take a closer look today at the number of searches for some of your favorite stars.  Just curious really how many people really do Google them.  I grabbed some porn stars names which are some of the better known porn stars.   These are all stars we kn ow and love but which of them gets Googled the most?

  • Sunny Leone  – 5,000,000
  • Jesse Jane – 1,220,000
  • Jenna Jameson – 1,220,000
  • Bree Olson – 1,000,000
  • Jenna Haze – 673,000
  • Nikki Benz – 673,000
  • Riley Steele – 450,000
  • Gemma Massey – 246,000
  • Jessica Drake – 201,000

Sunny Leone has been heating up the search engines lately with all of her new found fame over in India.  Between her appearance on the reality show Big Brother, her being cast in I think 2 or maybe 3 mainstream movies over in Bollywood and not one but two different endorsement deals, including one for a cell company over there, you can see why she has so many fans searching their hearts out to find everything they can about her.

Much to my surprise Jesse Jane gets Google’d just as much as Jenna Jameson did … well at least last month.  I’m sure after the whole Jenna Jameson DUI thing her numbers next month will be much higher but at least for now she’s about on part with Jesse Jane.

Next we have the Goddess herself, Bree Olson.  Despite having been out of the media circus for awhile now, she still gets an impressive number of searches each day.

Jenna Haze who has recently dropped in the rankings over at Fame Registry but still ranks very high in overall popularity and is on par in searches with Nikki Benz who was last year’s Penthouse Pet of the Year.

Riley Steele comes in below them with an impressive 450,000 searches a month and below that is British porn sensation Gemma Massey.  Both of them are really the newest performers on the list.  While all the others have years of experience on them, these two young starlets are holding their own with the best of them.

And below all of them is Wicked Contract girl Jessica Drake.  Considering how long she has been with them I’ve very surprised at how low her numbers are.  She’s below Madelyn Marie (who has 301,000 searches last month) who hasn’t been in a single movie or adult promotional event in what … like two years now?  It’s nothing personal … just seems a little off to me.  I just don’t know why her numbers are so low.

So now you know how the top stars rank each month, at least in terms of how many times each day someone goes out there and Google’s them.  Jesse Jane coming in line with Jenna Jameson is a very impressive feat.  A huge congrats to her and all the other stars on the list!  They’ve all done an amazing job at keeping their fans busy wanting more and more of them, which is what gets them Google’d in the first place.

They say no press is bad press and apparently that holds true when it comes to former porn stars getting a drunk and running their car into a pole.  If you don’t know what I’m taking about you can click here to view the full story about Jenna Jameson getting arrested for a DUI here on TMZ.

So what came of this arrest?  Apparently a whole hell of a lot of free press and it has gotten so much attention that Jenna Jameson became one of the top 10 most searched for things today on Google.  Considering the millions of searches that happen each and every day on Google that’s pretty damn impressive.

The Hottest 100 Women of All Time?

What do Sasha Grey, Cindy Crawford, Denise Richards, Marilyn Monroe and Jenna Jameson have in common?  They were all on the top 100 hottest woman of all time list by Men’s Health magazine [source].  Sasha Grey and Jenna Jameson are the only two porn stars who made the list.  Actually come to think of it, I can’t believe they actually put not one, but two porn stars on the hottest 100 women of all time list!

Sure, Jenna Jameson is a household name, and other San Fernando Valley starlets occasionally pop up in mainstream Hollywood productions, but Sasha Grey may be the first true star to cross over from the realm of porn. Her darkly sultry (and silicone-free) looks fall comfortably between girl-next-door and girl-on-the-stripper-pole. According to a recent tweet by husband Tito Ortiz, Jenna Jameson has ditched him and the kids for a 3 day bender.  Where has Jenna Jameson gone?  If her husband knows he isn’t telling but apparently by what he is saying via twitter, this isn’t the first time Jenna has done this.  Here are some of the tweets by Tito about Jenna leaving her husband and kids behind for days.

What the fuck is going on at Club Jenna?

I have one simple question for you … what the fuck happened to Club Jenna?  Or should I say @ClubJenna since anymore today that’s all anyone seems to understand anymore.  Twitter this, tweet that.  But I guess that’s another story for another day.  Back to Club Jenna.

I got an email today from an online retailer promoting the latest release from Club Jenna.  I could barely believe my eyes.

Who the hell is approving these piece of shit low budget productions?

How do they go from creating such great works of art to creating what can only be described as backroom trailer trash?  Just look and see for yourself.  The first image is from a box cover from a  Club Jenna movie of days gone by.  The 2nd is from a movie just released.

Just looking at that box cover conjurers up images of seedy dealings, low budget porn producers of the 1970’s and ’80s and crack whores, not the glamous image Playboy owned Club Jenna normally, or at least used to like to portray.  Who the hell is approving this shit?

I get a lot of emails with random questions and the one I get repeatedly is

How much do porn stars make?

Things have changed a lot over the years.  In past interviews Jenna Jameson would claim she started out making as much as $6,000 a scene and that towards the end of her career she was making as much as $25,000 a pop.  Who knows if these numbers are really true but I can tell you that today’s porn stars don’t make anything close to that.  Things just aren’t what they want before.

Not only because very few porn stars even attempt to build up their brand like Jenna did but also because movie sales aren’t what they where even just a few years ago.

There is nobody that is going to pay $6,000 a scene or even $4,000 or $3,000 for that matter, I don’t care how hot the chick is.

So then what do porn stars make? Well that really varies on a lot of factors.  It could be anywhere from $50 a scene to $500 a day on the low end to as much as $2500 for a boy / girl scene on the higher end.

A lot depends on where you are filming, who you are working with and who you are.   The hotter you are and the more well known you are, the more you will get paid.  LA pays significantly higher than Florida does.  Low budget producers in Florida have been known to hire street walkers for as little as $50 and some girls will even work doing two or three different things for $500 as a day rate in Florida.

Whereas in LA, a decent enough looking girl can easily get $300 to $500 on the low in for a boy/girl scene and that can skyrocket to as much as $2,500 a day for the more famous stars.  But even if a girl is really famous, in today’s market it’s not so easy to book the $2500 scenes.   Some girls who were getting that just two years ago, can’t get any bookings today.  It’s not that they are any less hot and they even have more fans and are more famous than they were back then, but people just aren’t paying those kind of rates right now.  Times are tough and paying porn stars the high end fees is the one thing taking a hit when it comes to reducing overall costs.

So to answer the question of “How much do porn stars make” it varies to much to say.  If you are the hottest chick ever, working in LA with the biggest, more established studios then you could probably make $1,500 a scene and get pretty steady work, booking honestly 2 or 3 scenes a week at those rates, especially if you really are Jesse Jane or Madelyn Marie level of hotness.

Jenna Jameson still dumb as ever!

(FoxNews.com) Just over four months ago, Tito Ortiz hit worldwide headlines after he was arrested following an alleged domestic dispute against his girlfriend and mother of their one-year-old twin boys, Jenna Jameson.

The UFC champ claimed he was trying to help the retired XXX actress amid a relapse to an OxyContin addiction – an accusation Jameson later denied.

But on Sunday night, the two appeared as happy as could be at the MTV VMAs in Los Angeles.

“It’s date night! Sunday date night! We’re mom and dad now so we really don’t go out that often but the VMA’s, this is the spot to be,” Jameson exclaimed to Pop Tarts.

And it seems Jenna is just as comfortable playing a parent as she was playing porn princess.

“It’s always tough, being a mom and dad – it’s the hardest job in the world, but it’s really worth it,” she said. “They speak Spanish so their first word was ‘agua’ which is really cute! We don’t speak Spanish but I’m really trying to teach them as much as possible.”

As far as Tito is concerned, a Spanish tongue is priority.

“With a last name like Ortiz, my parents didn’t teach me any Spanish, so I think they should be bilingual,” he piped in. “They’ve got to know Spanish.”

Jameson is also busy penning a follow-up to her 2004 New York Times bestseller “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star” – although it appears this one shall take quite a different tone.

“I haven’t titled it yet, but I am working on my second book about being a mom and also being ‘Jenna Jameson as a mom,’” she said. “I want to be remembered for being somebody who didn’t follow the rules. I did what I wanted to do and I think it’s really important for women to be free and not be stigmatized. I felt like I led the movement a little bit so I want to be an icon.”

So given her success in what was previously a very male-dominated industry, would Jameson recommend other young woman pursue such a lifestyle?

“No. It’s a hard lifestyle and I made the choice and I was able to get through it unscathed but I don’t recommend it to anybody,” she said.

There was a story today in the Huffington Post about celebrity sex tapes and quotes Jenna Jameson, who calls out Heidi Montag for her fake crying about her sex tape.

Jenna Jameson: Celebrities LIE About Sex Tape Victimization – Heidi Montag has stopped crying over her sex tape long enough to talk business with Vivid Entertainment and stands to cash in big. Porn veteran Jenna Jameson says she never bought Heidi’s victim act.

“Why do people do porno tapes, sell them, make boatloads of money, then LIE about being victimized. I know one girl who sold her tape herself,” Jenna tweeted on Tuesday.

“@SOFTBLUSHcom I know one of the girls that acts so prim and proper and sold her tape to get famous. The others I just speculate,” she continued. “I own up to my porn, I don’t cry and say my boyfriend stole it.”

Kim Kardashian has called her sex tape “humiliating” even though she came away from it with a $5 million settlement. Kendra Wilkinson gave teary television interviews talking about her “extremely embarrassing” sex tape after it earned her millions. Danielle Staub said her sex tape was “coming around for a reason,” try as she might to stop it.

Montana Fishburne, for her part, has never been less than upfront about her hopes for her sex tape to bring her riches and fame.

“I’ve watched how successful Kim Kardashian became and I think a lot of it was due to the release of her sex tape,” she said.
