5 Porn Myths Exposed

Pornography is more popular than ever, even if most people keep their viewing habits to themselves. The billion-dollar industry continues to grow and adapt, using new technology to reach customers in new markets all over the globe while.

Yet despite the advances in the creation and consumption of erotic materials, the same tired myths continue to dog the industry. Here are the top five myths about pornography and the adult entertainment industry and why they no longer hold water.

Myth #1 – Porn Movies Are All Low Budget Shlockfests

The most common and pervasive myth about porn is that it’s all directed by film school rejects and Hollywood wannabe’s in foreclosed homes and warehouses in Porn Valley on a shoestring budget in a single day or less. Detractors joke that the storylines make little or no sense, that they are full of bad acting, subpar lighting, and that they all share that cheesy soundtrack even your neighbor can recognize through the walls.

While there was a time during the video and DVD craze that this type of stuff was the standard fare, porn has come a long way in the last decade. From high end features like Kay Brandt’s Baumgartner series for Adam & Eve starring power couple Mick Blue and Anikka Albrite to sex education lines like Jessica Drake’s Guide To Wicked Sex: Satisfy Her Like A Legend to parody releases like Axel Braun’s Justice League starring Charlotte Stokely, commercial pornography is branching out to reach new markets, macro and micro.

These days you can find lesbian titles that focus on heavy foreplay right alongside the standard ‘porn-by-numbers’ stuff, along with transgender romance, interracial cuckolding, and slew of other niche fantasies! And if that doesn’t tickle your pickle, strap in and try out virtual reality.

Myth #2 – Porn Sex Is Unrealistic

The Standing Wheelbarrow. The Butter Churn. The Waterfall. The Snow Angel. The Emperor’s Hernia. Sporking. For years the popular myth was that you’d have to be just short of an Olympic athlete and trained contortionist to perform the sex positions captured in your favorite scenes.

While there are plenty of titles with professional level acrobatics and pyrotechnics you wouldn’t want to try at home in today’s commercial pornography, the vast majority of sex scenes feature the garden variety positions you’ve come to know and love. Worst case scenario, you might learn some new stuff to try out in the bedroom later.

Other complaints that fall into this general category are that the girls are all young, which the growing popularity of the MILF genre undermines (as XBIZ MILF of the Year Brandi Love can attest) and that they are all shaved, which Barely Legal star Avi Love and her big, beautiful bush assure us just isn’t so.

Myth #3 – Porn Guys Are Ugly

Back in the Golden Age of Porn, guys like John Holmes, Ron Jeremy, Harry Reems, and Buck Adams got down and dirty with hot stars like Marilyn Chambers, Nina Hartley, and Vanessa Del Rio.

They were manly men doing a dirty job that really needed doing. Getting into the business was difficult. Jobs were scarce, and sometimes questionably legal. The payoff was becoming a real star, if only on the blue screen.

With the rise of gonzo titles in the 90’s, storylines and acting took a backseat to explicit sex. The rapid escalation of production meant the need for more studs. Overnight male performers went from being celebrated studs to feeling like props. Female consumers noticed the change, and the myth that porn guys are all ugly began to take root. Only problem is, it just isn’t true.

If anything, the caliber of male star has gone WAY up since the Golden Age, with more demands than ever on the stars. Big name male talent dominating the adult industry landscape today look more like male models than former pizza delivery guys, with legions of horny fans hanging on their every word on social media and eating up their scenes.

Mick Blue, Jessy Jones, Derrick Pierce, Ricky Johnson, Jean Val Jean, Charles Dera, Bill Bailey, Ryan Driller, Seth Gamble, Keiran Lee, Shane Diesel, Xander Corvus, Johnny Sins, Isiah Maxwell, Johnny Castle, and literally dozens more, serve as proof that this porno myth just doesn’t add up!

Myth #4 – Porn Performers Are Victims Being Exploited, Especially Women

For some people the idea that women might enjoy sex enough to actively seek a career in it just doesn’t add up. To them, the only reason anyone gets involved in the adult entertainment industry is because they need to feed a habit or are being manipulated by an abusive partner making them perform. That’s just not the norm. Far from it.

It’s important to make the distinction between women being forced into prostitution and sex trafficking and adult entertainment. Adult performers actively seek out employment, of their own volition. They decide who they work with and what they will, and more importantly won’t, do with their bodies. They are free to get up and walk off set.

Performers today have more options than ever to take control of their brand and rake in the profits. Women earn more than their male counterparts, a rare feat in most industries. They run their own companies, like Female Performer of the Year Anikka Albrite, who owns BAM Visions along with her husband Mick Blue and their partner Claudio.

They use their brand to launch their dreams of becoming an author, like sexy XXX Puerto Rican Princess Shay Evans, who just released her erotic fantasies in a new bestselling series on Amazon, Shay’s Sexy Stories.

Most talent are now using their social media to earn money by giving fans exclusive access to their most private videos and photos via subscription. Popular redhead Lauren Phillips also uses hers to raise awareness about cyberbullying, donating part of her camming proceeds to organizations working to end it.

They plan out feature dancing tours across the country, like timeless beauty Jennifer White, create content for their websites and clips to sell in their online stores like inked angel Anna Bell Peaks, and plan vacations around jobs in other countries.

For those with the look, the sex drive, and the motivation, being a performer paves the way to a lifestyle beyond anything they could ever have dreamed.

Myth #5 – Porn is Free

Nope. Totally false. Just because you can see it on a tube site or download it on torrent, doesn’t make it free. Real people work hard, spending time, energy, and millions of dollars each year to create the stuff you love to watch – and not just performers. Production teams, set designers, warehouse employees, accountants, caterers, and literally hundreds of other skilled professionals make their living creating adult content.

They deserve to be compensated for their hard work, as well as the risks they take personally and professionally to create adult content.

If we do not support the people we love they will not be able to continue creating the movies, scenes, and content we consume. That’s why it is important to pay for your porn. Think it’s too expensive? Wrong again!

In Chicago there will be some changes in the structure of the meet up, but don’t worry, the dessert bar will always be there! We love our allies, but this event is open only to active and former Sex Workers – please RSVP.”

Emm Report releases 3,500 photos form the XRCO Awards

EMMREPORT and EMMNETWORK Present 3500 Photo Essay of the 2014 XRCO Awards! Outlets join forces to provide extensive coverage of star studded event.

EMMREPORT.com and EMMNETWORK.net have joined forces to present a special six part 3500 photo essay on the 30th Annual X-Rated Critics Organization awards show. Held April 16th at the OHM club in the heart of Hollywood, the XRCO awards were packed with the biggest names in the industry. From rising starlets to established legends, porn’s celebrities were in attendance to celebrate the winners and the XRCO’s 30th anniversary. EMM was on hand to capture all of the nights events; the winners, the presenters, the backstage antics and the sexy stars who showed off their hottest assets. The 3500 photo expose includes “safe for work” (SFW) and “not safe for work” (NSFW) photos.

“We wanted to do something special on this very special event,” Says Sherman.“The XRCO awards is one of the most anticipated events every year, and this year was no exception.”

Each part of this essay has a different aspect and perspective on the show. With over raw 10,000 photos to choose from, the selection process proved to be quite difficult. “Originally, this was going to be a BIG set of 100 photos,” explains Sherman. “Then it just kept growing and growing and growing. We actually left some very intense stuff out. It just didn’t fit the angle of the essay.

How accurate were my AVN awards predictions?

Previously I made some AVN predictions (see them here), so how well did I do? Let’s find out!

Best Actress

  • I predicted Jessica Drake, would win it.
  • But I thought Brooklyn Lee should have won it.

So didn’t get this one right. Virtual newcomer Remy LaCroix took this one.  She is actually pretty good. Glad to hear she won it!

Female Performer of the Year

  • I predicted Bonnie Rotten would win it and she did.

Mainstream Star of the Year

  • I predicted James Deen would win it and he did.

Male Performer of the Year

  • I predicted Xander Corvus would win it because of his friendships with the right people and I’m happy to say that wasn’t the case..
  • I think James Deen should win it, not only because of his body of work but also because so many female performers name is as the guy they most enjoy working with. Apparently he’s just one really nice guy and really treats the ladies with the utmost respect. He however did not.

Manuel Ferrara won it.

So in the end, my prediction success was only 50%. Goes to show you how much I know. LOL

Keep in mind this was all in good fun – nothing personal for or against anyone. It’s like watching the Miss America contest on TV – we all have our favorites for the show but in the end I truly am happy for all the winners. I really am.

My 2014 AVN Award Predictions

The 2014 AVN Awards show is coming up and here are some of my predictions.

Best Actress

  • I predict Jessica Drake, for her work in Sexpionage: The Drake Chronicles, Wicked Pictures will win it.
  • But I think Brooklyn Lee, for her work in The New Behind the Green Door, should win it.

Female Performer of the Year

  • I predict Bonnie Rotten will win it.
  • But I think Dani Daniels should win it.

Mainstream Star of the Year

  • Without a doubt Sunny Leone should win it. There is no porn star in our entire industry who has had the mainstream success that she has had over in Bollywood. Her million dollar 3 movie deal aside there is also a mobile phone contract. What porn star can say that?
  • I predict James Deen will probably win it. Being in a C rated movie with Lindsay Lohan and a sex tape with Teen Mom doesn’t compare to what Sunny Leone has accomplished.

Male Performer of the Year

  • I predict Xander Corvus will win it because of his friendships with the right people.
  • I think James Deen should win it, not only because of his body of work but also because so many female performers name is as the guy they most enjoy working with. Apparently he’s just one really nice guy and really treats the ladies with the utmost respect.

What’s a little felony fraud between friends, eh?

Have you ever looked up the word “authority”?  I did recently and it said …

“The word authority can be used to mean power given by the state (in the form of Members of Parliament, Judges, Police Officers, etc.) or by academic knowledge of an area (someone can be an authority on a subject).

In October of last year I pointed out that Wicked Pictures contract performer Jessica Drake have been attempting to pass herself off as a “sexual wellness expert” which in most states is a felony.

But clearly that didn’t drive the point home because just today I seen that Jessica Drake is not only still calling herself a sexual wellness authority but she has taken it a step further and plans to lead 3 sex education seminars in Arizona.

It is a felony for anyone to pretend to be a medical expert when they are not.  You can’t just going around saying you are a doctor when you aren’t or in this particular case without actually saying “doctor” they are instead implying expert or authoritative knowledge in this specific area of study which is usually attributed to those with a degree in psychology or related area of study.  So telling people you are an authority when you aren’t really can be a very big deal … perhaps even fraud and a felony.

I mean committing fraud by calling yourself that is one thing but to actually go forth with sex education seminars is a whole now can of worms.  What the fuck is Wicked Pictures thinking about participating in this fraud and sending out press release to promote it.  This makes them a part of the felony.  And yes I do mean actual felony as most states have laws against this very thing and it falls under felony fraud.

At the time I wrote the first story last October I looked into it before making this post just to make sure I’m not mistaken but as I suspected, it turns out Jessica Drake, who has been promoting herself as a “sexual wellness authority” doesn’t have a degree in that area of study or actually any degree at all from what I can find.

Some may ask, what does it matter if she is trying to pretend like she is something she isn’t?  Who does it really hurt?

Well it hurts those who are actually qualified to be an authority on sexual wellness.  For example Dr. Victoria Zdrok who actually has a PhD in Clinical Psychology who also happens to be a former Playboy Playmate and Penthouse Pet of the Year.  She also did a few adult movies as well.  But again she has a PhD and that makes her an actual AUTHORITY on sexual wellness.

There are porn stars who go on to do things like that with their lives.  But Jessica Drake didn’t.  She just gave herself that label.  She feels she is an authority so she decided to call herself that.

Apparently just having sex with a lot of men makes this porn star and Wicked Pictures and their related PR team feel entitled to call her an “Emerging Sexual Wellness Authority” and that is a huge problem.

We have enough issues in our industry right now … do we really need to add to it by letting the mainstream media or politicians know that a porn star who no degree in this area of study and has spent years in a damaging relationship with a married man, is claiming to be an “authority on sexual wellness”?

She isn’t a doctor.  She has no degree of study in this field.   Sucking a lot of cock doesn’t make you an authority on sexual wellness.  Nor does sleeping with a married man make you an expert of relationships.  It actually kinda makes you just the opposite but that’s another story for another day.

SO QUIT PROMOTING HER AS AN AUTHORITY IN THIS FIELD!  SHE’S A PORN STAR NOT A CERTIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL  Believe it or not there is a major difference between the two.

But for those of you who don’t have a degree in clinical psychology or a related field, just being a porn star doesn’t make you an authority on all matters.  You make be able to suck a hell of a cock but that’s a far cry from an authority on sexual wellness.

So to make this clear so there is no confusion … while there are porn stars with advanced degrees, Jessica Drake does not seem to have one, at least not one that I found after reading numerous published biographies and interviews about her.  She most especially does not have a degree in psychology or any related medical field that make make her an expert or authority on sexual wellness.  She’s a porn star.  Making porn is her area of expertise.  Sexual wellness is not and continuing to say you are is fraudulent and quite possibly criminal.

And calling me a bitch doesn’t make this fact any less true.  Fraud is fraud and liking me or not liking me doesn’t really change that.

Enough already Wicked Pictures with your Fake “Sex Expert”

I hate to be a bitch and I’ve quite honestly fought really hard with the other posters and owners of this site to clean up the kind of articles that get released lately at LukeFord.com.  I want the site to be an informative news source about the adult industry and not a pile of bullshit posts with rumors, slander and pissing matches that this site really used to be.  I’m really happy to say that over the last year things have really cleaned up the site.  But that doesn’t mean from time to time we have to speak out and point out some negative issues that go on in our industry and today is a perfect example of that.

It’s an election year and that means porn is always in the spotlight and anything any of us do can be a huge problem because the media or some jack ass politician looking for an easy target can make it out to be a bigger issue than it really is.
I’ve been seeing a lot of press releases lately from Wicked Pictures promoting one of their contract stars as a sex expert.  Today I seen a blog post calling her an “Emerging Sexual Wellness Authority”.  That bothers me.

Turns out it is a felony for anyone to pretend to be a medical expert when they are not.

So today when I seen this porn star promoting them self as an “Emerging Sexual Wellness Authority” it really bugged me a lot.  This bothers me greatly because in the end the actions of those in the spotlight in our industry has great influence over all of our lives and careers.

If someone goes around pretending they are an expert or promotes themselves as a doctor or some kind of actual medical expert and they aren’t, then it can have a negative impact on all of us.  Because much like the condom issue, we have all seen how quickly an issue can get out of hand.  All it takes is the right fuck up in the wrong hands and things can get ugly really quick.

I have 52 different press releases from Wicked Pictures that in some way shape or form refer to Jessica Drake as a “sexual wellness authority”.  Not 1, not 2, not 10 but FIFTY TWO!!!!!!!

I looked into it before making this post just to make sure I’m not mistaken but as I suspected, it turns out Jessica Dake, who has been promoting themselves as a “sexual wellness authority” doesn’t have a degree in that area of study or actually any degree at all from what I can find.

Despite some people in our industry like say Dr.

Sucking a lot of cock doesn’t make you an authority on sexual wellness.  Nor does sleeping with a married man make you an expert of relationships.  It actually kinda makes you just the opposite but that’s another story for another day.

I have no problem with porn stars.  Love them.    In fact, I’ve worked very hard to help many of them improve their lives for years now.  Think what they do is great but trying to saying a porn star is an expert on sexual wellness is just asking for trouble and more government regulation or other related troubles for our industry.

There are a lot of porn stars out there who are highly educated with advanced degrees.  And to those girls I say good for them!   I truly hope that one day you can use those advanced degrees like Victoria Zdrok has done and combine what she has learned in the porn industry with her degrees to write books and even get hired as a legal expert and she regularity speaks on the talk show circuit and I think writes article son sexual wellness for Penthouse too – well at least she did for awhile.

But for those of you who don’t have a degree in clinical psychology or a related field, just being a porn star doesn’t make you an authority on all matters.  You make be able to suck a hell of a cock but that’s a far cry from an authority on sexual wellness.

How many people Google’d You Today?

Companies pay search engines like Google money to advertise every time people like me and you search for specific keywords.  The more people per month search a specific keyword or keyword phrase, the more money Google and other search engines can charge that company for that ad.

The interesting part of that whole dynamic is that is also gives us a unique insight into the popularity of your favorite porn stars.   Sites like Fame Registry use this data to help determine the overall popularity of your favorite stars.

So I decided to take a closer look today at the number of searches for some of your favorite stars.  Just curious really how many people really do Google them.  I grabbed some porn stars names which are some of the better known porn stars.   These are all stars we kn ow and love but which of them gets Googled the most?

  • Sunny Leone  – 5,000,000
  • Jesse Jane – 1,220,000
  • Jenna Jameson – 1,220,000
  • Bree Olson – 1,000,000
  • Jenna Haze – 673,000
  • Nikki Benz – 673,000
  • Riley Steele – 450,000
  • Gemma Massey – 246,000
  • Jessica Drake – 201,000

Sunny Leone has been heating up the search engines lately with all of her new found fame over in India.  Between her appearance on the reality show Big Brother, her being cast in I think 2 or maybe 3 mainstream movies over in Bollywood and not one but two different endorsement deals, including one for a cell company over there, you can see why she has so many fans searching their hearts out to find everything they can about her.

Much to my surprise Jesse Jane gets Google’d just as much as Jenna Jameson did … well at least last month.  I’m sure after the whole Jenna Jameson DUI thing her numbers next month will be much higher but at least for now she’s about on part with Jesse Jane.

Next we have the Goddess herself, Bree Olson.  Despite having been out of the media circus for awhile now, she still gets an impressive number of searches each day.

Jenna Haze who has recently dropped in the rankings over at Fame Registry but still ranks very high in overall popularity and is on par in searches with Nikki Benz who was last year’s Penthouse Pet of the Year.

Riley Steele comes in below them with an impressive 450,000 searches a month and below that is British porn sensation Gemma Massey.  Both of them are really the newest performers on the list.  While all the others have years of experience on them, these two young starlets are holding their own with the best of them.

And below all of them is Wicked Contract girl Jessica Drake.  Considering how long she has been with them I’ve very surprised at how low her numbers are.  She’s below Madelyn Marie (who has 301,000 searches last month) who hasn’t been in a single movie or adult promotional event in what … like two years now?  It’s nothing personal … just seems a little off to me.  I just don’t know why her numbers are so low.

So now you know how the top stars rank each month, at least in terms of how many times each day someone goes out there and Google’s them.  Jesse Jane coming in line with Jenna Jameson is a very impressive feat.  A huge congrats to her and all the other stars on the list!  They’ve all done an amazing job at keeping their fans busy wanting more and more of them, which is what gets them Google’d in the first place.

The You Suck Award Goes to JessicaDrake.com

A movie review today was posted on Adult FYI reviewing Jessica Drake’s official website.  Apparently it didn’t get such a good review.  In fact, I think it got one of their lowest reviews to date.  [source]

Sean from AdultFYI and Adult Cyber Mart writes: Jessica Drake is a multi-award winning superstar and member of several industry related halls of fame. She also has an exclusive contract with Wicked Pictures and she is a hot looking blonde which in my book supersedes all of her other accomplishments. That being said, her official website, JessicaDrake.com, doesn’t come close to equaling her industry status.

The site is designed well and is easy to navigate. It also meets the industry standard by offering movie clips and pictures.

Taking the site tour I was a little confused with the description of the videos. It’s advertised that the site has scenes from all her latest Wicked movies. Great, but then further down the page I see a ‘View Movie Now!’ icon. So what is it, do members see the whole movie or just her scenes? Your guess is as good as mine.

Her biography and list of industry awards appear to have not been updated since 2008. The last award mentioned was a Best All-Girl Sex Scene won in 2007. I went to Wikipedia and discovered that since then she has won the following awards: 2009 AVN Award – Best Actress, 2009 AVN Award – Best Double Penetration Sex Scene, 2009 XRCO Award – Single Performance, Actress, 2010 AVN Hall of Fame inductee, 2010 AVN Award – Best Group Sex Scene, 2011 XRCO Hall of Fame inductee.

Her site also has a blog and appearance page as well. Both haven’t been updated since April 10, 2011.

This site, somebody’s attitude, or both, need a complete overhaul. A site cannot survive on name recognition alone. Her name may get fans to visit the site, but fresh content and updates keeps the fans coming back. Even the best restaurants change up their menu occasionally.

Membership to her site is $29.95.

Alexa rank for JessicaDrake.com as of January 16, 2012: 249,029 [US]

Sean’s Grade for www.JessicaDrake.com : D+

On a side note, the site seems to be run by the now defunct Adult Star Profits that from what I heard they took off with all the money owed to the girls and let them hanging.  But my question is, if that is true, then why keep the site up at all?  Clearly someone is running things.  NATs cost at the very least $150 a month.  So somebody is paying that bill, not to mention the monthly web hosting fees and the domain name registration fees.   So if you are allowing new joins and not updating the site then perhaps this  D+ was well deserved.  Her fans deserve better, especially if she is going to milk them for $30 a month.

Wicked Girls AEE Apperance Schedule

Whoever wrote this press release sure the fuck loves the bold key.  They bolded like every few words for no apparent reason.  I think their intent was to highlight a few key words but when you bold one to 5 words per sentence it sort of loses the effect.  For fuck sakes people think before you press the fucking send button.  I deleted all that shit and for the fucking love of God, why do these idiot still keeping putting Jessica Drake’s name in lower case?  Oh because she likes it?  Who the fuck cares.  It makes her look like a fucking idiot for not knowing that names begin with a capital letter.  There is absolutely no marketing value whatsoever for having her name in all lower case.   I am told “it is her personal preference”.  And? Who the fuck cares.  It looks fucking stupid. God people are already annoying the fuck out of me and it’s only the 2nd day in the new year.
