Spain develops one of the “most powerful” prototypes for an AIDS vaccine

The Spanish vaccine “MVA-B” against the AIDS virus, patented by the Higher Council for scientific research (CSIC), has achieved an immune response of 90% in a phase I clinical trial, one of the best responses of the immune system of the registered to date.

Those responsible for the project said Wednesday in Madrid, 90% of the volunteers undergoing the compound has developed an immune response to the virus, and 85% of them had it for at least one year. Its safety and efficacy are described in separate articles in the magazines “Vaccine” and “Journal of Virology”.

In 2008, the “MVA-B” showed a high efficiency in mice and macaques, and protection against the Simian immunodeficiency virus. This finding led to the implementation of the clinical trial in 30 healthy volunteers, led by the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and the Gregorio Marañón in Madrid.

The success of the treatment is based on the immune system can be trained to respond to the virus particles and cells infected on a lasting basis.

The researcher at the national centre of biotechnology of the CSIC Mariano Esteban, responsible for the development of the compound, ensures that the “‘MVA-B’ has proved to be as powerful or better than vaccines currently in Studio”.

Said the head of the team of Hospital Gregorio Marañón, doctor Juan Carlos Lopez Bernaldo of Quirós, side effects have been produced are “which is expected in any kind of vaccination”, mainly of local type in the area of injection. “The safety of the vaccine is optimal, there has not been any adverse effect that has compromised the health of the volunteers,” reiterated this expert.

However, the doctor responsible for the research team of the Clínic, Felipe García, advised to “take caution” outcomes, that the treatment has been tested only in 30 volunteers, and “Although it stimulates a response powerful in most cases, is soon to predict whether induced defenses prevent infection”.

Researchers have provided treatment with “MVA-B” 24 volunteers, while six others received a placebo. The vaccine was administered in three doses intramuscular at weeks 0, 4-16, since the beginning, and their effects were assessed in peripheral blood until week 48, when it concluded the trial.

NEXT STEPS

Thanks to its high immunological response in humans, the team will begin in October with the network of AIDS research another clinical phase I trial with 30 volunteers infected with HIV, to check its effectiveness as a therapeutic vaccine.

“We want to test whether the vaccine also induces defenses in infected people.” AIDS drugs are taken in by life, and this is something intolerable in Africa. “We must find alternatives to antiretroviral therapy,” added Garcia.

To be able to be marketed, this “genetic cocktail” must overcome even all future clinical trials in phase II and III tests. In this regard, the team says “be very close” to close an agreement with the Hivacat project and Esteve laboratories for the launch of the phase II study.

SPAIN, IN THE “FIRST DIVISION”

The only trial in phase III carried out so far is being held in Thailand, with 16,000 volunteers. This research has achieved an efficiency of 31%. “We have now is much more powerful than the Thailand.” “We are in the first Division,” added Stephen.

The research team of Esteban began working in development and preclinical “MVA-B”, which gets its name from its composition from the modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) virus in 1999. According to the CSIC, is an attenuated virus used to eradicate smallpox, and serves as a model in the research of multiple vaccines. The “B” is derived from the subtype of HIV which fights, the most prevalent in Europe.

The development of the “MVA-B” is based on the introduction of four genes of HIV in the genetic sequence of vaccinia. A healthy immune system reacts against the MVA, and HIV genes inserted into their DNA are not able to infect humans, which guarantees the safety of the trial.

Cindi has a great story today on porn star Shyla Stylez who apparently is having some major problems [source].

I’ve had fans asking for months “Where is Shyla Styles? Did she retire?”  I did find a story online saying that she got married and retired. But then I heard from male porn talent that he had shot a scene with her not too long ago. Shyla was on and off twitter sporadically, but never really talking to anyone. Just announcing things.

Like in February she got her boobs  and redone and she was out of commission until March 24th when she did a scene for Brazzers. ( I heard on Twitter so it’s just a rumor that Brazzers asked her to leave that day)

In August she says she will be featuring at the Rhode Island Cadillac Lounge. At the end of August she says she is at LA exotica with her friend Tia Cyrus. No more tweets since then.

Earlier this month, I wrote and tweeted Shyla. No answer. A couple days ago, I tweeted Tia. No answer. I emailed Shy Love just now, she’ll probably respond and I”ll let you know what she says.  A couple weeks ago i asked Shyla’s webmaster if she he had retired, he said he didn’t know and to let him know what I find out. Like I said, I can’t say enough good about the girls I’ve had on. But Shyla Stylez is an ugly blight on their reputation. Bree Olson has a rep for being a train wreck, but not on my watch. She’s never been anything but sweet and professional. Can’t say enough good about her. Can’t say enough bad about Shyla.

One more thing: I was at Shyla’s first show Thursday, and it was a mess. She was stumbling around, etc. But I just talked to somebody who saw her second show, and she started CRYING in the middle of it. She’s clearly got issues.

Shyla has been screwing things up and missing things for the last six months, which would make it since March.  March is when she supposedly had a boob job. I’m wondering if she got on pain meds and still is….. We wish you the best Shyla. Your fans miss you. Let us know what is going on and if we can help…

When I get emails from fake lawyers who give me more information than i had in the first place, (i mean did i say anything about needle marks or heroin? ) they would have been better off just SHUTTING THE FUCK UP! …

Little Lupe’s Ex Headed to Columbia to face Child Porn Charges

Pablo Lapiedra is the ex-husband of Lupe Fuentes and he’s been held up in Spain, fighting extradition to Colombia to fight charges on child porn.  Spain how now approved the extradition and he is on his way back to Colombia. [source]

Spain approves extradition of ‘child porn’ director to Colombia

Spanish judges on Wednesday approved the extradition of a porn director wanted in Colombia for making films with children.

The judges said Pablo Lapiedra’s attempt to flee Spain constituted a “de facto removal of breach of Colombian jurisdiction” as they ruled that his case met the requirements of the extradition treaty between the two countries.

However, the final decision on Lapiedra’s extradition will be made by the Spanish government.

The Spanish native is wanted in Colombia for allegedly using underage teenage girls in porn films he made in Medellin.

Police arrested the director in March and he remained in prison until he posted a bail of $135,000 in September.

At an extradition hearing earlier this month, Lapiedra claimed the girls showed him fake ID to prove their age. He also claimed exemption from the terms of the extradition treaty because he is a Spanish citizen.

In August, Interpol issued an arrest warrant for Lapiedra’s Colombian wife Lupe Fuentes on charges of child pornography and forgery in connection with the case.

The down and dirty truth about the dot xxx scam

Take all the PR hype out of the mix and just read this one story and you’ll see exactly why so many people hate those .xxx people and how they are willing to MAYBE auction of YOUR trademarked name at a future date for a premium price.  We’ve said all along it’s a scam and now here is just one more bit of proof.  [source]
Before I start my rant feel free to tell me I should never have bothered with .xxx – I know now that is just what I should have done…Having been completely taken in by the registry’s sales pitch and in the hope of securing ‘my’ domains, I went ahead and followed their procedures… FOOL!

I am aware how the majority of you feel about this process and so won’t expect any sympathy, I just want to document this in case anyone else is even considering buying (or trying to buy) theirs.

I ‘pre-reserved’ – now this is being called ‘expressed an interest in’- ‘my’.xxx domain. I joined the ‘sponsored adult community’ – yes I know… MUG!

I have owned and operated janeyweb.com since 2000. I also own a large suite of top level domains (.coms and .co.uks as we are UK based) most of which contain janeyweb or janey in them.

My company trades as Janey Web Productions Ltd. My stage name is Janey Web.

Our registrar secured one .xxx domain with no problem – www.janeysweb.xxx – this in fact is a name we did not oringinally ‘express an interest’ in, we just decided to get it as we use the .com as a pay site.

We were then told by the registrar that janeyweb.xxx AND the second domain we were ‘interested in’ were blocked so they couldn’t buy them for us.

ICM confirmed that these domains were on their “Premium List”.

This means that they are not available in Sunrise A even though I own the top level domains. They MAY be up for auction in November (but they MAY NOT), or we can wait for Landrush in December if someone else didn’t already get them or if the registry actually decide to release them at all!

I asked the registrar to refund the domain we have secured as I do not want to do business with ICM any longer – in fact they have stopped corresponding with me despite never once answering all of my questions, including whether someone else had ‘expressed an interest’ in the domains – this I understood would be the only reason I wouldn’t get them straight away under sunrise A.

The registrar says they cannot refund the registration fee according to their T&Cs, but as we are a long term customer they’ll part refund it as a goodwill gesture…

So I am out of pocket, left with a domain we don’t want and without the ones that I did want – sorry ‘expressed an interest in’ – YEP, SUCKER!

Anybody else been screwed…?

Tera Patrick surprised all of her twitter followers today with a picture of a now 5 months pregnant stomach.
