Digital Playground increases Affiliate ePass fees

Speaking of affiliate troubles … those of you using the Digital Playground affiliate program may find your next check $20 lighter.  I was reading a post at Porn Star Kings and found that effective immediately Digital Playground, will be charing a $20 processing fees for customers wishing to be paid via ePass.  Most affiliates assumed the $20 they were seeing was a mistake because most people charge only $2.  But turns out it is not a mistake at all and a VP over at Digital Playground clarifies …………………

We did just change our policy to a $20 fee for epass. due to excessive bank fees that we’ve been incurring.  The site will reflect the same in the sign up form shortly.  A number of affiliates have switched to pay by check for this reason.

Did you hear the latest about Digital Playground contract girl Janie Summers?  Well, truth is I hadn’t either.  There has been so little fan fair about her, it really makes you wonder if something else is going on.

Anyway, there is an interesting story about her over at Darrah Ford’s site.

I emailed a few people tonight after first reading the press release and I was told yes it’s true.

The press release out there today states that Heather Starlet will be appearing on a live cam show this week for Private Camz and Immoral Productions. Heather Starlet was Digital Playground’s new contract girl Janie Summers. No where in the press release does it mention Digital Playground or the name Janie Summers. But Dan Leal did say Heather Starlet has just gotten out of her contract and will be making her first live appearance with them this week.

Digital Playground had just signed Heather to a contract six months ago. They had also renamed her Janie Summers. Soon after it was revealed that this was Janie’s return to the industry. After the AEE convention that same year (January 2009), her family staged an intervention and Janie soon found God. Eight months later she signed an exclusive contract with Digital Playground.

The reason why it wouldn’t have worked for anyone in the same situation is because Janie already had issues with porn and religion. She’s already left once and might leave again. If she doesn’t leave and stays, she might begin to hate porn and herself even more and blame everyone around her in the industry for all her problems.

Now six months later, she’s mysteriously left Digital Playground. She was nominated for AVN’s Best New Starlet award just last month. The same month, her debut Digital Playground movie “Private Lessons” was released. But I just looked through all the press releases and I never got one promoting her new movie.

She was at the AEE convention & AVN Awards promoting her movie and representing Digital Playground. She was also the official Trophy Girl at the award show. So why after only one movie and an AVN award nomination is she gone? Did the movie not sell well? I can’t imagine they got rid of her so quickly after only one movie and after all the press she was getting after her nomination. Did something horrible happen while at Digital Playground? Or did she leave on her own thinking it was a lot of pressure dealing with the company?

Now after being a short lived contract girl for Digital Playground and being nominated for an AVN award, I would think Janie could have her pick of any company and quickly get another contract. So why ruin any chance of a future in this industry by getting involved with Porno Dan of all people? Does she not know who he is and what kind of a person he is? Has she not heard the stories that are out there about him from others in the industry that know first hand what kind of a person he is?

He’s a predator who preys on the new 18 to 20-year-olds who don’t realize yet the danger they’re getting into by being around him. And if they actually want a career in this industry, the last person to be associated with is Dan. His actions and bad reputation rub off on these women and no one will take them seriously anymore which will cost them work. So I don’t understand how Janie could have made such a major downgrade from Digital Playground to Immoral Productions or why no one around her or at Digital Playground warned her about Dan and who to stay away from while in this industry.

So here she is back as Heather Starlet. A religious girl who already had issues with her profession and her faith. Now she’s worse off than when she first began digging herself into a deeper emotional black hole.

I was reading on Mike South’s website about the new Digital Playground cable channel coming out soon.  The long and short of it is ….

The channel will be a Pay per view outlet, not a subscription based service and it will be available on pretty much all of the cable TV outlets like Comcast, Versizon Fios, AT&T Uverse, COX  and Time Warner. When I asked if it would also be on satellite I was told that hasn’t been announced yet.

The service will begin offering only Digital Playground titles but in the future, the plans are to license other titles, as long as they comply with Digital Playgrounds strict quality and content standards.

One of the things I have always admired about Digital Playground is that the companies owner, Joone, is not afraid to leverage technology. Say what you want but when everyone else was crowing that they were shooting in HD (2 mega pixels) Digital Playground was shooting with the Red 1 cameras at 16 megapixels.

A few weeks ago Digital Playground announced that it was going to be launching it’s own cable TV channel.

Joone was kind enough to answer some questions for me about this.

The channel will be a Pay per view outlet, not a subscription based service and it will be available on pretty much all of the cable TV outlets like Comcast, Versizon Fios, AT&T Uverse, COX and Time Warner. When I asked if it would also be on satellite I was told that hasn’t been announced yet.

The service will begin offering only Digital Playground titles but in the future, the plans are to license other titles, as long as they comply with Digital Playgrounds strict quality and content standards.

There will be different versions for different carriers as well so if hardcore isn’t acceptable in your area, softer versions will be available. Joone emphasizes that the carrier will choose how hard the version they will offer is, they will also choose whether they carry the standard definition version or the high definition version..

When asked if direct delivery was likely to supplant the old go to the video store model Joone replied, ” I think in this day and age its not about a single format its about giving the consumer options. Some want DVD, some want Blu-ray some want online and some want VOD to their bedroom tv.”

The content will be exclusive, no other VOD (Video On Demand) Branded system will offer it. The release schedule will follow the Hollywood style of window releasing. Our theatrical has been DVD and Blu-ray and after that window we go into VOD. We want to maximize each window release.

I asked Joone what was the most difficult aspect of bringing this to fruition. “Making blockbuster movies that make money and creating a high end library. At the end of the day the deal was an easy one because we had the right content” was his answer.

Finally I inquired as to what is next for Digital Playground.

“We have our own toy line that we have been working on for the past year lunching in Jan. We did a sneak peek at the Berlin show to a very select group of big distributors and they where blown away by what we have. Whats exciting for me is that these toy buyers see hundreds of toys each week and they really love what we have coming out.

You know what is interesting is for years the Berlin show was about DVDs. This last show I went to it was all about Toys, and Toys you can not download so there is going to be a need for distributors and stores.”

DP Takes Rio Valentine Out of the Picture

Talk about a huge slap in the face for Morgan Dayne aka Rio Valentine, who turns out really is pregnant and well apparently Digital Playground isn’t really standing all that by her.  Not to long ago we reported that Digital Playground was not even listing her as a top friend on their MySpace page and within a few days of our report they corrected that.  It was then I just assumed that the story of them standing by her was true that them not listing her was a true oversight.  Now however I have photo proof I was wrong.  They have pretty much written her off and how do I know such a thing?  Well they signed Kayden Kross on January 1, 2010 and she is already in their new lineup of girls.  But you know who’s not shown in the latest Digital Playground ad?  That’s right – Rio Valentine.

We know those are individually taken photos of Katsuni, Janie Summers, Raven Alexis, Kayden Kross, Riley Steele and Jesse Jane because this ad was sent to print back in December of ’09 and that would have meant Kayden Kross was working with Digital Playground prior to her Adam and Eve contract expiring and surely they wouldn’t risk a lawsuit like that.  Right?  I mean despite all the rumors to the contrary.

Now back to the Rio Valentine part of the story.  As you can see Rio Valentine has been written off by Digital Playground, as they have not really included her in any special promotions throughout the entire year, even before she was showing and now they don’t even bother to list her in their print ads.

Heck they don’t even list her as a Digital Playground girl on their own website, DigitalPlayground.com and fuck they list Devon, Janine and Tera Patrick – girls who haven’t been under contract with them for years and years and years.

The good news for Rio Valentine is her show on Playboy TV (Sex Lives) is hot and that alone should get her some fame and quite a few new fans.

Kayden Kross Ditches Adam and Eve for DP

Kayden Kross began her career as a Vivid girl.  She didn’t stay with them for long, maybe a year and then when leaving she did one movie for Digital Playground (Deeper 9) and then signed with Adam and Eve.  It was about this time that Kayden began blogging for Mike South.

It was during one of her first posts we got to learn about how great Adam and Eve was and how glad she was she signed with them because the only other two companies she worked for were horrible (Vivid and Digital Playground).  Here is a tiny bit of what she was saying about being on the set with the other two companies she had worked for up until now.

Fourth/Fifth movie: with no script, no make up artist, and catered with McDonald’s, we managed a movie. Or two. I learned i had signed with the wrong company.

Sixth movie: i learned that porn stars need assistants (for…?). I finally walked through the perpetual enema juice on the bathroom floor without slipping, wincing, or gagging. This was a milestone.

Seventh movie: a girl got me off. This was unchartered territory. I learned that certain dildo materials cause reactions similar to those of pepper spray when applied to the back of the throat.

Eighth movie: i got peed on. It should be known that this was not in the script (and the fact that i have to specify that should tell you something as well).

Clearly she wasn’t happy about working with either company. Movies 1-7 were about Vivid while her 8th movie was made with Digital Playground. So was with Vivid for a year, Adam and Eve for two years and
