Memorial Day Memories and Problems

There are days like today that I am reminded how stupid some people really are. They were interviewing a lady on the news who said she loved the city she lives in but the one thing she doesn’t like is how many new restaurants the city is building when there are all these homeless people around.  Instead of creating all of those new jobs with those new businesses she thinks it was a better idea to just give all that money to the poor people like her so they could pay it forward more easily.

I seriously sometimes just smack my head to my forehead on that one.

But it brings up a good point … and that point is, sometimes people really get caught up focusing on the wrong thing. This person like many others feel entitled and that rich people should just give them money because clearly they have it, I mean if those people can afford to build a new restaurant, why not just give it to her instead? The lady and others like her don’t get that this simple new business will create countless new jobs but beyond those people who will be hired as waitresses, cooks, cleaners, security, etc., they will also be doing business with other people like the guy who supplies them with the meats and fish. Then there is the guy who they buy that laundry service from to wash all of their linens each day.

This of course helps all of those companies as well, who also have their own employees and it’s a never ending cycle that helps to improve the economy as a whole.

So back to my point, which as you might have guessed has nothing to do with that dumb ass lady on the news, but about porn itself.  Sometimes we all get so caught up in our own ideas, hates, annoyances, that we don’t stand back and really see the big picture or as my grandmother likes to say, we can’t see the forest for the trees.

No things in our industry aren’t perfect right now.

I don’t know if the rumor is true that Steve Hirsch from Vivid really tried to hire Mr. Marcus _AFTER_ he faked his syphilis test, but if that rumor is true, well that’s just fucked up.

I don’t know if the rumor is true that one studio owner who is HIV positive is really have sexual contact with female performers on the set (even if it is just finger fucking her) without those young girls knowing he is HIV positive, well if that rumor is true, that’s just really fucked up too.

But in the end, despite these kind of problems, we are all so caught up in hating on each other we are forgetting to see the big picture – and that is, if we don’t shut the fuck up sometimes and at least try and work together for the big issues, then we are going to have more problems than we have right now.

So on this Memorial day I ask that you first and foremost honor those who deserve it most, our troops. Then sit back and really think about the big picture. Don’t think about how much you hate this person or that person … just think for a moment about something you can do to help our industry and who you might be able to do it with, even if it is a person you don’t like.

I think Fabian from Manwin is a jackass. I have made my feelings about him to him very clear on more than one occasion, but if he came to me tomorrow and told me he would give me the money to help someone in our industry – some sort of performer friendly project, I would consider working with him.  I may not like him, but sometimes you have to put your feelings aside and look at the big picture. I probably wouldn’t trust him enough to actually do anything with him for real, but I would be mature enough to at least consider it. And that’s what I am asking each of you to do as well on this day.

Let’s put our hate aside for this one day and think about others for once. Think about what we can do to really solve some of our industry problems.

A huge Kanye West RUMOR about Vivid and Kim Kardashian

It’s an Exclusive Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Rumor Alert!

Fact : Kim Kardashian had sex on film which was sold in a commercial venture.  This makes her no different than any other porn star … no matter what she may say.

Rumor:  Now I want to be clear here and say that I heard this RUMOR but it came from a really really good source that is in the know on these kind of things.  Kayne West has fallen big time for Kim Kardashian and he wants to get control of her sex tape for her as a gift but ran into a stone wall when attempting to negotiate such a deal with Vivid.

So the rumor is he allowed not one but two sex tapes to be leaked into the hands of potential buyers, a specific group of people known to be involved in the buying of celebrity sex tapes.   That is, all the potential sex tape buyers _ expect _ for Vivid Entertainment.  Which was apparently done on purpose, because we always want what we can’t have, right?

So his people are out making a big ta do about how the sex tapes are fucking hot and trying to generate as much interest as he can in them.  Why?  Because he wants to try and use the release of his sex tape to get back control of Kim Kardashian’s tape with Vivid.  As in like hey I’ll go ahead and release my tape with you but only if you give Kim Kardashian back her sex tape and take it off the market.

At least this is what the rumor is.

What do you think?

If it’s true I gotta give him credit for how brilliant he was in coming up with such a plan and for his huge romantic gesture.  I mean you have to admit, not many men would go this far for the woman they claim to love.

Steve Hirsch Takes on Rick Santorum

VIVID ENTERTAINMENT HEAD STEVEN HIRSCH SAYS RICK SANTORUM AND ACTIVIST MALIKA SAADA SAAR ARE BOTH OUT OF TOUCH ON PORN ISSUE

Hirsch Argues Women Are In Control Of Adult Movie Production and Female Viewership has Doubled

Steven Hirsch, founder and co-chairman of leading adult movie studio Vivid Entertainment, says both presidential hopeful Rick Santorum and blogger/activist Malika Saada Saar are wrong in their anti-porn stands.

“I have always found it interesting that some people feel compelled to control the lives of others,” says Mr. Hirsch in an article written for The Huffington Post. “These self-appointed morality police believe they are better suited than you to decide what you can watch and what you should think. They want laws passed that take away our First Amendment freedoms; we should all hope that they do not succeed.”

He rejected a call by Mr. Santorum for a ban on pornographic movies and websites, allegedly because “obscenity” causes brain damage, ruins marriages, leads to prostitution and sex trafficking, and “contributes to misogyny and violence against women.” He also disputed an argument by Ms. Saar, writing in her Huffington Post blog, that “mainstream porn is now hard-core and celebrates the debasement of the female body.” Saar said she is “disappointed by the left’s summary dismissal of Santorum’s proposed idea to ban porn.”

“Speaking for myself and my company, Vivid Entertainment, I believe that Ms. Saar and Mr. Santorum are out of touch. Their arguments don’t hold up to scrutiny. Let’s look at the facts: The FBINational Crime Victimization SurveyCenters for Disease Control and Prevention, and other credible organizations actually report a drop in rapes, teen pregnancies and sex crimes since 1991, when porn first became widely available on the Internet,” Hirsch writes.

“Allegations of misogyny are also untrue. Women increasingly control the adult business. There are many women who own adult companies. Women decide which movies they want to perform in, what scenes they are comfortable with and who their partners will be. No woman is forced to act in an adult film; they do so of their own free will,” he added, noting that two of Vivid’s most popular directors “are women who have won multiple awards for their work — Kimberly Kane and Tristan Taormino.”

“Even in the medical community prominent couples therapists frequently recommend that their patients watch adult films to help strengthen their relationships. Would this make sense if women were being degraded? Would doctors dare even consider such treatments if this were the case?” Hirsch asked. “In summary, this is 2012, and many women like to watch porn, and therefore companies like ours celebrate women and their power in our movies. We are hardly ‘waging a war on women’ as Ms. Saar suggests. To the contrary, women speak to us loud and clear from the marketplace, with female viewership of our programming more than doubling in the last ten years.”

About Steven Hirsch: Steven Hirsch is the founder and co-chairman of leading adult film studio Vivid Entertainment. Vivid: Founded in 1984, Vivid has always placed heavy emphasis on high quality erotic film entertainment and has created wide brand-name awareness through its films and the www.vivid.com website, an innovative marketing and a licensing program that extends to advertising, apparel, book publishing and a range of other products. Mr. Hirsch was honored in 2012 with the first AVN Visionary Award as a leader who “has propelled innovation and taken his company and the business as a whole to new heights.” In addition to its Vivid-Celeb imprint famous for celebrity sex tapes, the company is known for its Vivid Super XXX Heroes parodies and award-winning feature films. Vivid has the industry’s largest archive of adult films.

Steve Hirsch Blasts Rick Santorum

VIVID’S STEVEN HIRSCH BLASTS SANTORUM PORN STAND AS “RIDICULOUS AND JUST PLAIN WRONG”

Top Adult Industry Executive Says in America “Juries Respect Free Speech and Freedom of Expression”

Steven Hirsch, founder and co-chairman of leading adult film studio Vivid Entertainment, says an anti-pornography argument by Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum is “ridiculous” and based on false data.

Santorum has called for vigorous enforcement of current anti-obscenity laws, arguing it causes brain damage, ruins marriages, leads to prostitution and sex trafficking, and “contributes to misogyny and violence against women.”

“This is ridiculous and just plain wrong,” says Mr. Hirsch. “None of his arguments holds up to scrutiny. For example the FBI, National Crime Victimization Survey, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other highly credible organizations have all reported a dramatic drop in rapes, teen pregnancies and sex crimes since 1991, when porn first became widely available on the Internet. The National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) reported that between 1991 and 2009 the occurrence of rape in the U.S. dropped 86 percent, just one of many surveys that indicate sexual violence is declining rather than increasing as Mr. Santorum argues.”

“I find it ironic that Mr. Santorum and some of the other Republican candidates claim to favor less government…except when it comes to issues like pornography, where they want Government to dictate what people can and cannot watch. Trying to ban an entertainment form that the U.S. Supreme Court has deemed to be protected is a hopeless task since no one can honestly make blanket judgments on what is obscene.”

“People today are more comfortable than ever with adult content,” Mr. Hirsch added. “If they choose to watch adult movies, it’s their personal decision. We vehemently oppose laws regarding sexual conduct between consenting adults.”

“Thankfully we live in America and have a rational justice system. If by some chance Mr. Santorum were elected president and chose to increase prosecutions, we are confident that our industry would prevail. We believe that juries respect both free speech and freedom of expression. It’s easy for a political candidate to attack our industry, but as everyone knows, pandering and policy are very different matters altogether.”

Manwin Buys DP for rumored $50 Million

Everything you are reading here should be considered a rumor – as in an unproven fact.  These rumors may or may not be true, in part or in whole.  You should never consider a rumor as a fact.  What you read here may be in part true, or in whole completely false.  That’s the thing about rumors, you never really know.  I am only sharing with you water cooler stories I have been hearing.  They may or may not be true.  THEY ARE RUMORS.

Last June we reported that Manwin was in talks to buy Digital Playground.  Truth be told, by the time we had posted that story they had been in talks for awhile and had already started to take over the day to day operations of the DP family of websites.

It would take another two months however before the buyout would take place.  It took so long because according to rumors DP was over valuing their catalog.  Well, at least in the eyes of the buyers.

It was during this time Jesse Jane had decided not to renew her contract with Digital Playground and made a very public to do about it.   Jesse Jane’s people went into talks with several other companies including taking a meeting with Brazzers.  Just days later she announced she had resigned with Digital Playground.  Insiders are now saying it was actually a deal with Manwin that Jesse Jane did her new deal with because at that time they had already secretly bought out the company.  So the insinuation that the contract girls would be cast aside after AEE in Vegas, is ridiculous.

Mike South and Adult FYI are reporting buyout sum was $50 million but I have a source that says that number is very wrong.  It includes a large up front cash payment that is nearly double that and over the next five years additional payments will be made.  He doesn’t know an exact amount but estimates it to be around $150 million over a period of 5 years.

The rumor is now that Manwin is in talks with Vivid.  My sources are saying these talks have been going on for a few months now and are all but a done deal.  One Vivid insider says that Hirsch made his money off of some big Playboy deal a few years ago and since then he just doesn’t give a fuck. He’s been looking for an excuse to leave porn since then anyway.

Another insider is saying that the Vivid deal will not include a continuation of the Axel Braun contract.  According to a few different people he is to hard to work with.  “Not worth the bullshit that comes with working with him”.    “His ego an antics make him to much of a liability“.

So who does that leave us with?  If Manwin buys Vivid that means they control all the major studios except Bluebird Films.  Think about it …… there is Wicked Pictures, Vivid Entertainment, Digital Playground and Bluebird Films.  They are the big 4 in the jizz biz, making the big budget features.

Will Bluebird Films cave and join the other major studios?  My sources say “not in a million fucking years”.  Owner Paul Chaplin was once quoted as saying he was never in the porn business to make money, he makes the movies he wants to watch.  Perhaps that will be the one thing that keeps Manwin at bay.  We shall see.

In the mean time we have a few other Manwin rumors to address.  Not to long ago there were reports that Zero Tolerance were in “financial dire straights” that the only thing making them any sort of money was their toy line but with their venture with the now bankrupt Store Program ended, things took a turn for the worse, even in that division of the company.  This made them prime for takeover by Manwin.  While to date Manwin hasn’t really made any move on the lower tier “gonzo type studios” like Zero Tolerance, Red Light District, Elegant Angel, etc. because Zero Tolerance is considered to be the best in that category there was always the chance that Manwin would consider it but my sources are saying to date that is not the case.  They would rather just freeze out the smaller guys and let them go out of business than waste their money and resources on trying to acquire them.

One Brazzers insider said that Manwin might have considered Zero Tolerance a little more seriously if their collection of websites weren’t run so piss poorly.  I don’t know how much if any of that is true, but that is what I am hearing.

Next I heard a rumor about Manwin in talks to buy out a network company like Webquest.  I talked to my source who said “Webquest? LOL  Why would Manwin buy them?  They have no real value.  They are only worth the value of their biggest contract which they could lose at any time.  Then what would they be worth?”

So if they aren’t going to go after traffic networks, I wonder what they will focus on buying next?  AVN?  Maybe XBIZ?
