What’s TV without a little porn on the side?

This summer Google announced their newest product which seamlessly combines TV and the Internet. Google TV is being touted as a “complete entertainment device” and is expected to be released later this fall.

Today it was announced that the website www.AdultCommunity.com has begun development exclusively for Google TV. This is one of the first sites to announce their intention to develop a website exclusively for the new Google TV.

Google TV is already backed by major players like Sony, Logitech, Intel, Dish Network, Netflix and Best Buy, and it is rumored that at launch they will be working with 3 of the 4 major TV networks; Fox, NBC and CBS.

The Adult Community site is the first XXX rated website to officially announce its plans to be exclusive to the Google TV platform.

Upon release the site will offer Google TV users a catalog of adult films featuring the biggest stars including Briana Banks, Eva Angelina, Tory Lane, Hillary Scott, Katsuni, Morgan Dayne, The Love Twins, McKenzee Miles, and Audrey Hollander. Besides photos and videos, the site also has plans to feature custom created content uniquely designed for the Google TV platform.

Surfers Feel The Need … for Speed

How fast does a page load when you visit any particular website?  Research and years of experience has shown us that the faster a page loads, the happier the surfer is.  If your page takes to long to load the surfer is more likely to leave the page all together.

How fast is “fast”?  Well, marketing experts typically follow the 2 second rule – which simply means, anything over 2 seconds is 2 seconds to long.   Yes, that was meant to be a joke. 🙂  In common speak, your goal should be to get your web page to load in 2 seconds.

The pages on my Madelyn Marie website, on average take 2.7 seconds to load.  This is faster than 60% of sites.   This is good, because happy surfers are more likely to click on your banner ads.  But I could still improve my site performance by .7 to be at the ideal load time.  But overall you can see my site performs at above average.

So how do you know what your site is performing at?  That’s simple.  By now I’m sure you know of the many benefits of using Google Analytics.  Besides the obvious SEO perks, another benefit to using it is the site performance charts.

Log into your Google Analytics accounts, click LABS and then SITE PERFORMANCE to run your own site’s page load tests.

Good luck!

Bing it or Google it? Who really is the champ?

Last night I was watching Vampire Diaries and during the show one of the characters told another that they “Binged it” and then showed her on her computer using the Bing search engine.  So it got me thinking …. with all of the marketing hype, a webmaster can’t help but wonder what the real truth is when it comes to search engines – which is better, Bing or Google or Yahoo?  Is Yahoo still even a contender at all?

So as luck would have it, with the recent Jesse James controversy, my Janine Lindemulder site is getting pounded with traffic.  I happen to be lucky enough to be in the top three on both Google and Bing for the keyword phrase Janine Lindemulder.  I am also in the top 5 for Yahoo for that same keyword phrase.  So of the 3 big shots, who is really pumping out the traffic?

Well push all the poo aside that everyone’s marketing and PR people are feeding us and this is the real results.   In the last few days Google has sent me the most traffic by far.  By the way these are just straight Google web results, not including anything I got from Google images.

This report is in no way meant to be all scientific or anything like that.  I just wanted to show you, from a real webmaster to other real webmaster, what kind of results search engines are actually producing.

Although things change all the time, at the time I did this report I was #2 on Google, #3 on Bing and #4 on Yahoo for Janine Lindemulder.

  • Google 82,163
  • Yahoo 4,562
  • Bing 3,270

So as you can see by the chart below, Bing may be growing in popularity and getting more media attention but they still have a long, long ways to go.

The future of the web revealed

What will websites of the future look like?  Turns out it will look a lot like MMOG’s like Everquest 2 and World of Warcraft.  Crazy shit is my friend told me this 5 years ago. I just didn’t listen to her. Guess she now gets to say I told you so.

It seems web pages will be replaced with 3d visuals.  Instead of seeing pictures of trees you actually see 3d rendered trees.  This will be a massive boost for back end companies who for years have provided 3rd party objects and programs for gaming companies.  There is actually a company who does nothing but sales 3D trees of every kind for games.  In the not so distant future they will be able to expand their market to include all those website designers out there.

These fancy new websites won’t require you to download a client like a separate program, like what you need to Play WoW.  No these new fancy websites will all be built into future versions of web browers.  Here is a sample video of Google’s version of this new and coming plug in, which you can learn more about here. There is also a story about it at XBIZ.

Big salary jobs in PORN with no degree required

CNN recently ran a story about jobs you could get that pay more than $50,000 a year that didn’t need a degree.  Well I think they left off a few and I am going to list them off for you!  Keep in mind these are all very specific jobs in porn, that although you don’t need a degree for, you may need some skills.

Porn Star (female):  On the low end you can make about $500 to $700 a scene and that can go up to $5,000 the more attractive and well known you are.    A well known female porn star can easily book 4 or 5 scenes a month and that translates into more than $200,000 a year, not including money she may earn for other projects such as appearances and photo shoots.   On the low end, the girls tend to work more but are paid less as they are less known.  However they still make a decent living, some girls doing as many as 20 scenes a month, some even more.  The low end girls who are hard workers can pull in more than $100,000 a year, if they are willing to hustle and take any job that comes their way.

Talented Stunt Dick (male) :   These are the lesser known stars of the business.  A reliable male stunt dick, I mean porn star who can perform on call can easily make $70,000 a year.  Now if they are willing to go both ways, they can make significantly more.

Experienced Affiliate manager :  When affiliate managers start out, they like most professionals have to pay their dues working for shit for pay.  These guys make almost nothing often times work exclusively for commission.  However on the high end, those who have some experience can earn $100,000 a year base pay plus bonuses and often time those bonuses are trips around the world and even sports cars.   It may sound crazy to pay these guys this kind of money but a good affiliate manager can make a business untold fortunes but to keep them, you have to be willing to kiss their ass.  There are a lot of dumb asses out there that will blow any kind of smoke up your ass but there are also those guys out there who do have the experience they say and can perform the miracles they promise.  When a company finds out, they will do anything to keep them.

Porn Star Publicist : To make it in this business a porn star learns they often have to be their own PR machine and that includes sending out tons of press releases, managing a website, myspace page, twitter account, facebook page and son on and son on.   And let us not forget the roll of booking agent and well all of that is on top of actually working for a living doing what a porn star does.  So smart girls are hiring help and those are the people who do PR for them, including sending out press releases and running their MySpace and Facebook pages.   To just send out press releases you can expect to earn about $500 a month per girl, however you throw in managing their myspace, twitter and facebook accounts and you can increase that another $500 a month per girl.  Get a few girls you do this for and you are quickly making upwards of $60,000 a year with very little effort.  The hard part is getting porn star clients.  Typically it’s a word of mouth gig so get 1 client, do right by them and they will tell their friends about all you do for them.

SEO Expert : Search engine optimization is really one of the biggest scams going around simply because it’s an industry that far to many people know far to little about so when they go to hire an SEO expert they don’t know what they really want or need or how to verify the claims these so called experts are making and get taken for a ride.  But that being said let me be the first to tell you that a real SEO expert who can back up his shit can make upwards of $250,000 a year plus performance bonuses.   But finding this guru isn’t easy because everyone and their mother claim to be an exeprt at SEO.

Here is a true SEO story.  I have a friend who ranks in the top 3 in Google for like 10 very popular porn star names.  She’s held these spots for years.   More than 80% of all of the traffic to her websites comes from search engines, which as a result is very high quality traffic.  Her work is easily verifiable.  So one day she offered to help a guy out as a friend but would need him to cover the cost of her assistant for $2,500 a month.    He agreed to the deal so she took one of his websites, a domain he just registered a few months prior to that, turned it from a PR0 to PR4 website with more than 23,000 back links, without buying so much as 1 link or doing anything illegal or shady, within a few months.  So the person has a proven track record of SEO skill, now takes one of his own domains and proves her skill with one of hers and now the time comes where the guy is going to invest a lot of money into SEOing one of his other domains.  He’s dedicated a good chunk of money for this project.  Does he hire this person?  Nope, he lets some other guy talk him into spending nearly $60,000 plus the cost of “buying links”, which is an illegal SEO practice that could get his website banned from Google.

How did something like this happen?  Is this guy we are talking about a total dumb ass?  Well in reality he’s not.  He’s actually normally a very savvy business man but even the best get taken in by snake oil salesman and more often than not, that is what you find in the SEO business so if you pursue a career in this area and are able to do it right, the amount of money you could make is nearly limitless.  A smart company will snap you up in a heartbeat and pay you what they can to keep you.

Board Whore :  Smart companies have caught on to the fact that message board signatures are great means of promotion especially when the person posting takes the time out of their day to make meaningful posts.  So what does this translate to?   Well for about $500 to $1,000 a month a person will pay you to put their banner and link in your signature on one message board.  There are 5 decently sized message boards in our industry, many more smaller ones, so just imagine the money you can make per board.   If you are really skilled and actually take the time out to make well thought out and informed replies on message boards, you can get up to $1,000 a month for the larger boards.  That works out to be $5,000 a month or $60,000 a year.  That’s not bad money considering it only takes about 1 hour a day to make a few well thought out posts on each of the 5 major industry message boards.  If you aren’t that great of a poster or creative writing isn’t in your background, you could make the lower end $400 – $500 a month for the big boards and throw in some $50 a month on the smaller boards to make up the difference.

Small Change with Google Analytics

For those folks who run their own websites, they might want to log into their Google Analytics accounts today because when they do they will find some nice changes to the way the data is presented to them. First and foremost there is the account preview screen that at a glance will let you know if your overall traffic (for all your websites) are up or down for the last 30 days. Then when you enter your account, you get a very well thought out glance per website, that without even having to view the full report will let you know if your traffic is up or down.

Google in trouble? I don’t think so. How Cuil is that?

Most people know by now that Google is God.  They have the majority of all search engine traffic.  I think the last time someone reported it at like 66% of all search engine traffic goes through Google. That’s pretty damn impressive and say what you will be the truth of the matter is, no matter how much hype you throw at something, if a search engine doesn’t produce relevant results then people just aren’t going to keep using that search engine.

According to an article on CNN, an ex Google employee created a new search engine.  This one is called Cuil (pronounced Cool).  Long story short this person brags about how the last search engine technology they created Google purchased and used to revamp their own engine.  But this time they created something even better and it’s not for sale.  Instead they decided to launch a website to directly compete with their former bosses and how is that going?  Well there sure is a lot of media hype about it.  Hell it was even on my local news as a hot story of the night.  Surely with all that media attention this new search engine is going to give Google a run for their money, right?

Well, not so much because remember what I said early on?  RELEVANCY MATTERS and if a person can’t find what they are looking for, they will move on.  So let’s give this a little test.

First we searched for Briana Banks using Google.  The first few sites are really relevant.  The first is her official website, the second is Sexy Briana, this site says it’s the first ever Briana Banks fan site and they have been around for like 6 years.  In fact the site does offer quite a bit of unique Briana Banks content so that link is very relevant.  Briana Banks Wikipedia listing is in the top listings.  That’s also pretty relevant for the search terms.  All in all if a person was to use Google to search for Briana Banks I think they would be pretty happy with the results.

Now let’s use the new search engine to also search for Briana Banks and see what we can come up with.  First listing is for her official website.  That’s good.  Someone searching for Briana Banks should find her official website first off.  The next few listings however leave a lot to be desired.  The next listing claims to have

Briana Banks photos, photo gallery, pictures, picture …

only when you click on the link you get almost nothing to do with Briana Banks but you do get served a lot of ads including three pop ups.  The next listing takes us to a page with nothing whatsoever to do with Briana Banks.  She’s not even listed once on the page.  Ok the next link surely is going to be something to do with Briana Banks, right?  I mean after all the title of the page is

briana banks videos, briana banks downloads, briana

That’s right, not one fucking video, photo or even mention of Briana Banks when we clicked the link.  What the fuck is wrong with this search engine?  Is this brilliant person really to stupid to know that relevancy is all that matters.  Who the fuck cares if that have billions of web pages indexed if none of the search results are relevant.

GREAT JOB YOU FUCKING MORONS

All I learned from my time at the new Cuil search engine is that Google doesn’t have a god damn thing to worry about with these people.  And also with all that capital, some estimate they’ve raised more than $200 million, why the fuck couldn’t they have come up with a better domain name?  Just guessing but with the stupid site currently sitting at cool.com, I’m betting they are in the market to sell that domain name for the right price.   So why the fuck pick one like Cuil.  People will have a hard time remembering that name, I promise.   In the corse of writing this story I had to look it up 6 times just to make sure I got it right.

Cuil you suck balls, big nasty hairy ones!

GOOGLE MAKES DEAL WITH DOJ

A Federal judge says he will likely grant part of a Bush administration request for data from search giant.

from RedHerring.com

Google shares rose Tuesday after a U.S. federal judge said he would likely order the search engine to comply with at least part of a scaled-back Bush administration request for search queries and web addresses stored on Google’s servers.

While the U.S. Department of Justice originally asked Google in August for two months’ worth of search queries, government and Google lawyers recently agreed to a diminished request in private negotiations after Google fought the first DoJ subpoena, according to Bloomberg. A Google spokeswoman told CNBC that the company is “very pleased” by the curtailed DoJ request, which seeks the information to bolster a bid to revive an Internet pornography law.

Judge James Ware in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California in San Jose ended Tuesday’s courtroom showdown by saying that he would issue a written ruling very shortly.
Google stock gained $14.10 to $351.16 on the Nasdaq. Reuters reported that government lawyer Joel L. McElvie told Judge Ware that the government can make its case without the data from Google, but that the government study would be “substantially improved,” if Google provided what the DoJ wanted.
Judge Ware’s decision could have broad ramifications beyond DoJ research. A decision in favor of Google has law enforcement worried that it will be harder to obtain search records to solve future crimes. But privacy advocates fear that a ruling on the side of the Bush administration would weaken laws protecting personal information.
Google has said that the requested information would be far more useful to competitors in the form of trade secrets and proprietary systems than it would be to government lawyers. The feds have been seeking the information to bolster a legal theory arguing that banning Internet porn does a better job of protecting minors than technology filters.
In late February, the DoJ sought to assuage the worries of privacy advocates and said in a brief filed Friday, “The government seeks this information only to perform a study, in the aggregate, of trends in the Internet. No individual user of Google, or of any other search engine, need fear that his or her personal identifying information will be disclosed.”

Google’s rivals, Yahoo, MSN, and AOL, all apparently agreed with the DoJ, and complied with similar requests for information. The Bush administration is seeking to revive the 1998 Child Online Protection Act, which the Supreme Court struck down two years ago as a violation of free speech.

Meantime, Google continued with its stealthy acquisition of small companies. The Google blog Tuesday had a post from Jeff Martin, the product marketing manager for SketchUp, a small, six-year-old Boulder, Colorado company that makes 3D design software, announcing that Google bought the company. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
