Manwin Bans ALL .XXX Associations

Manwin, who I think we all will agree now owns a controlling share of the actual internet, or at least the adult portion has made a very interesting decision today.  Effective immediately they will not only refuse to do any sort of business themselves in terms of buying .xxx domain names, they will also not do any business with anyone who does.  This includes buying ad space, selling ad space, buying content, selling content, affiliates and so on.

So anyone who owns a .xxx will flat out find themselves not able to do any sort of business at all with any Manwin owned or run websites which includes Wicked, Twistys, Brazzers and well quite honestly far more than I could ever count.  So before you rush to buy your own .xxx you might want to keep that in mind.

Something tells me that Manwin won’t be the only company making this decision, especially when it comes to their affiliate program.

LUXEMBOURG—Manwin issued a statement Friday announcing that in addition to the antitrust lawsuit it filed Nov. 16 against ICM Registry and ICANN over the approval of the .xxx TLD, it also “has determined to cease any and all internet liaisons with the .xxx Top Level Domain.”

In addition, the announcement states that as of today, Friday, Dec. 2, Manwin has banned all activities between its brands and internet sites registered with a .xxx TLD.

“We oppose the .xxx domain and all it stands for,” said Fabian Thylmann, Managing Partner of Manwin. “It is my opinion that the .xxx domain is an anti-competitive business practice that works a disservice to all companies that do business on the internet.

“The lawsuit was just the beginning,” added Thylmann. “Through this ban, we hope to make a strong statement against the .XXX domain.”

Manwin said it will no longer permit content from or advertising for .xxx websites on its tube sites. In addition, it will not permit its content to be used or advertised on .xxx websites. This will prevent ICM or .xxx from exploiting the 60 million daily visitors to Manwin’s network sites, it said.

By permanently blocking the .XXX domain, Manwin also said it hopes to send a clear message that it does not support ICM or .XXX.

  2. While I applaud the concept I really think Manwin is just doing this to grandstand in an attempt to look good politically, 2 try & gain favor with all the people they pissed off over the years by stealing their content. But in the end we all know they r still the same thieving pieces of shit they were before they took up the fight against .xxx

  3. It is funny how many people turn a blind eye to the content theft and continue to do business with them. I agree we should blacklist any fuckers stupid enough to do any sort of .xxx business, but let’s take it a step further and say blacklist any pornstar who shoots for any manwin owned site including brazzers and mofos. I mean they are responsible for massive amounts of content theft so why the fuck not? fuck em let’s blacklist both dot xxx and manwin.

  4. That is a good idea. I’ve always wondered why people like wicked and digital playground keep doing business with manwin knowing how much content the sites they own have stolen from them.

  5. I’m not so against the girls who take work with Brazzers, as I am the business people who cut deals with them and then turn around and complaint about piracy and content theft.

  6. I don’t know how true this is but I heard that three big studios have already banned any association with xxx as well, like Manwin has only they haven’t gone public with it like they have. We can guess 2 of them would probably be wicked and dp but not sure who the 3rd one is.

  7. They seem to be spending a shit ton of cash, speed boats, porn stars, tv commercials and recently they paid to be the #1 trending tweet on twitter.

  8. Ya they have a few commercials out now. In all I think I’ve seen 3 different commercials so far. And yes I agree, they are spending a crazy amount of money. Guess it isn’t so hard to do when sites like clips4sale cough up $700k for domain names.

  10. Here is a great post I found on GFY about .XXX –
beaner from GFY says — The reason why “Premium” domains already registered during the Sunshine era is because the only way dotXXX passed was by selling the “illusion” of cleaning up the industry. They just fucking registered whatever they wanted to!!! The names they knew were big names.

I figured that out when I asked the yahoo on this board…. dotxxx…. how can I get a domain name?

That name was pantyhose.xxx I wanted to create a fetish site. His response was to email and also give an in depth description of how I wanted to develop it. “We are interested in what your plans are”

Well, let me start by saying…

    Fuck you

I would never tell what I am doing as that would make me feel like big brother is on my shoulder. (all the other obvious reasons here )

    Are you big brother?

So ICANN has allowed the dotXXX and you guys (ICM registry) are walloping in the signups that have occurred.

Did you really clean up this industry or just scrape it?

How does it feel to want to know what everybody is doing? How does it feel when all this is taken away from you?

tags: extortion, stuart lawley laughs and chuckles with 10’s of 1’000s of registrations, foxbusiness and stuart lawley confirm no cybersquatting by reserving dotXXX

ICM Registry are, by precise definition, extorting trademark owners and rights holders by reserving trademarks as premium domains.

They may have checked against US trademarks but I can tell you for an absolute fact that they haven’t against Australian trademarks. They have also forgotten about a very important aspect of trademark law in the UK and Australia, presumably some other Commonwealth countries, that being the “common law” trademark.

We own a trademark, ICM Registry has reserved it and I will have great pleasure in taking ICM Registry to task once they issue the domain matching this mark to a third party.
