I have recently learned that for the last 4 months the owners of 2Girlsand1Cup.com has been trying to sell their widely popular website without much real success. They call it a “pop culture phenomenon”. I call it stinky shit but either way 400,000 people a day go looking for it so it has to be worth something.
2 Girls 1 Cup is the trailer for Hungry Bitches, a pornographic fetish film produced by MFX-Media that has sense been banned in the United States. The video features two women defecating and vomiting into a cup, taking turns consuming the excrement, and vomiting into each other’s mouths. This one-minute trailer is an Internet virval video senstation.
According to Alexa 2Girls1Cup seems to have reached its peak in popularity in December of 2007 and since then has been on a steady decline. At present the owners claim the site still gets about 400,000 uniques a day but industry insiders are quick to question the quality of the traffic.
The owners say that 2Girls1Cup get 66% of the traffic from type ins while 12% come from the various search engines such as Google and Yahoo. Even more interesting is that not one single penny was ever spent to advertise this website. The entire lot of those 400,000 unique visitors per day (however some sources say it is half that), come on their own through the massive word of mouth. Say what you will, that in itself is damn impressive.
So how much is a site like this really worth? The person helping to sell the website claims they have already gotten multiple offers “way above and beyond” $5,000,000.
Most industry insiders question the quality of the traffic and the demographics as well as the short term potential of the site as we all know fame is fleeting and the hype for the site is long gone. One webmaster said it best when he said “Traffic is dropping like a $2 whore“. This is especially the case since it has been revealed to be a fake. Will the site sell? Perhaps. For how much? Who knows. But they say there is a sucker born every minute so no doubt some dumb ass with more money than brains will pick it up for a pretty penny.
