Actor Gets 3-1/2 Years for Child Pornography
Edwin Jupp Jr., an actor who has appeared in several episodes of Law & Order and had a bit part in the movie A Beautiful Mind, was sentenced to 44 months in prison last Thursday for possession of child pornography, according to the office of Michael J. Garcia, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
From sometime in 2002 until the spring of 2005, Jupp had amassed more than 500 images of child pornography, a video slide show containing at least 100 more still images, and more than 40 videos, according to a statement from Garcia’s office. The majority of the images found on Jupp’s computers were of pre-pubescent girls, the statement said.
Jupp, 51, was born in Youngstown, Ohio, according to a brief biography on the Internet Movie Database. He was born with cerebral palsy, the biography stated, and he found the performing arts “to be a place for him to work and learn about himself and the world he lives in.”
As someone who uses a wheelchair, Jupp has been an advocate for actors with disabilities and is part of a multi-union committee that deals with the issue, said Sharon Jensen, the executive director of the Non-Traditional Casting Project in New York.
Jupp’s attorney, Jennifer L. Brown, would not comment on the case.
