A MAN has been accused of tricking a woman into having sex with him by posing as a policeman and claiming it was necessary as part of an investigation.
Harvinder Singh Jheeta pleaded not guilty at Warwick Crown Court to two charges of procuring a woman in her 20s to have intercourse with him by false pretences.
It is alleged that in late 2002 or the following year Jheeta purported to be a police officer and instructed the young woman to have intercourse with him by claiming it was necessary as part of a police investigation.
Jheeta, aged 23, of Ferndale Road, Hall Green, also pleaded not guilty to four charges of raping the woman on various dates prior to March this year. And he denied a further charge of blackmailing her by making an unwarranted demand for payment for ‘security services’.
Michael Duck, defending, said the issue in the case would be whether the intercourse was consensual.
