Woman Faces Charges Of Sex With Girl, 16
RIVERVIEW – A mother’s six-month struggle to deal with her daughter’s emotional turmoil uncovered a lesbian affair between the teen and her adult boss, who was arrested Saturday for having sex with a minor.
The 16-year-old Hillsborough County girl started her first job last summer at the McDonald’s restaurant at 985 E. Bloomingdale Ave., where she met Jennifer Bijaczyk, then 33. They became close and the teen looked up to Bijaczyk, who occasionally was a supervisor.
The Tampa Tribune has a policy of not identifying the victims of sex crimes.
They began an affair in July, the girl, now 17, said in an interview Sunday. When school started in August, the girl sometimes skipped classes to be with Bijaczyk.
"It was about five months that we were together," the teen said. "She knew what she was doing was wrong."
By October, Bijaczyk was no longer working at McDonald’s. On Oct. 13, she was arrested by a Hillsborough sheriff’s deputy on a domestic violence charge at 10328 Boyette Creek Blvd., a home she owns with her husband, according to property records. A judge agreed in January to let her enter a pretrial diversion program to avoid prosecution.
Meanwhile, the teen’s home and school lives were in turmoil.
Her mother moved the family to Polk County in November in hopes of finding a fresh start, the teen said. The teen ended her relationship with Bijaczyk but kept the details secret from her family. Her mother got suspicious when Bijaczyk began calling the house, the teen said. The teen’s mother said Sunday the telephone was disconnected recently to stop the calls.
"I agreed to go into counseling, and that’s when it all came out," the teen said.
The teen eventually confided the details of the affair to her mother, who called the sheriff’s office.
On Saturday, Bijaczyk was arrested on charges of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
She is accused of engaging in sex with the teen 20 to 25 times between July 1 and Nov. 30 at her home, at locations on Adamo Drive and Falkenburg Road and in a car, according to an arrest report. Although the sex was consensual, the teen was too young to legally consent.
Bijaczyk was in the Orient Road Jail on Sunday with bail set at $8,000.
