Happy 11.11.11 – Today is a day of enlightenment

Today is 11.11.11 and those who believe in the mystic or magical forces know that means it is a unique day indeed.  So what does the number 11 really mean?  Well I wondered that myself so I goggled it and here is what I found …………..

Number 11 is a master number. It is the number of illumination and is particularly connected with intuition (and other psychic experiences). If you’re familiar with numerology you know that you wouldn’t look at 11 as two 1s, but rather as either 11 or a 2. In this sense it is then connected closely to the number 2 which is the number of communication. 1 is about independence and self knowledge, 2 then is about communication. Once you’ve solidified your self concept then you move on to communicating that self with other selves. So, 11 being a number of enlightenment (illumination) it’s connection to 2 is more about communication between the higher self and the lower (physical self). It’s about the connection between the physical and metaphysical. 11 is about moving beyond the concerns of the ego and exploring the collective consciousness.

Number Eleven possesses the qualities of intuition, patience, honesty, sensitivity, and spirituality, and is idealistic. Others turn to people who are ‘Eleven’ for teaching and inspiration, and are usually uplifted by the experience.

In systems such as Astrology and basic Numerology, eleven is considered to be a Master Number. Eleven can also represent sin; transgression and peril. Ten being the perfect number, eleven represents the exceeding of both. It is interesting to note that eleven when broken down ( 1+1=2) comprises the Two of duality. Number eleven is a master vibration and as such should not be reduced to a single number.People with this number could be both idealistic and visionary, and they are attracted to the unknown. They can be both unusual, interesting and magnetic personalities.

Eleven bring the gift of spiritual inheritance, is gifted as the “Light-Bearer”. It is the number of the Light within all. Strengthened by the love of Peace, gentleness, sensitivity and insight. Greatest facility is the awareness of Universal relationship. Is related to the energy of Oppositions and the Balancing needed in order to achieve synthesis. Eleven is The PeaceMaker… Colours : Gold, Salmon, Prune, White and Black.

Determining Your Life-Path Number

Let us say that you were born on March 29, 1968.

March is the third month–3

the day 29, 2+9 totals 11

the year 1+9+6+8 totals 24 which reduces [2+4] to 6

Now add 3 with 11 [11 being a Master Number does not reduce]=14 +6=20

Drop the zero, and you have 2 as your Life-Path Number.

7 Billion People on our planet. What # are you?

Seen a cute little story today on BBC News and thought you might like to check it out as well.  Click here to see your number.

The world’s population is expected to hit seven billion in the next few weeks. After growing very slowly for most of human history, the number of people on Earth has more than doubled in the last 50 years. Where do you fit into this story of human life? Fill in your date of birth below to find out.

When I was born, I was the 3,856,212,364th person alive on Earth and the 78,092,684,087th person to have lived since history began

How did they calculate that?

Both numbers have been calculated using UN Population Division figures. The first is an estimate of how many people were alive on your date of birth. It is one possible value based on global population figures and estimates of growth rates over time. Data before 1950 is less accurate than figures after that date. The second number includes calculations based on the methodology of scholar Carl Haub, who estimated how many people had been alive since 50,000 B.C. His calculation has been amended by the UN to include additional points in time.

Are we getting to inked up for our own good?

Look at this picture and be honest …. do you see the pretty girl or are you distracted by the ink?

When does a cute little tat here and there go to far?

I know I’ve heard of more and more producers not wanting to work with girls who are all tatted up.  When I first heard about it, I quite honestly didn’t give it much thought.  I had always considered those kind of girls more ALT porn than mainstream but anymore it seems like everyone even big stars are getting large portions of their bodies covered in ink.  Do you think these girls will ever truly be accepted in what we have come to call mainstream (aka bigger budget) porno, or are they forcing themselves to be pigeon holed into the niche market of gonzo or ALT porn with their tats?

I would have said those kind of girls are ALT porn girls only, but then again just today my 72 year old aunt said “who doesn’t have a tat or two anymore?”  And you know what?  She’s right.  20 years ago a Playboy Playmate with a tattoo was unheard of, but today Hef’s main squeeze Holly Madison had one.  So, what do you really think?   What are the limits?  What level is to much for mainstream porn?  Are there even any limits anymore?

Sucks to be the PR Guy Sometimes

Sometimes you just gotta feel bad for the poor guy (or girl) who has to send our press releases for certain people.  Recently one company sent out a press release and it actually got posted on several major sites including AVN, with tons of flat out false information.  It wasn’t really the PR person’s fault because in the end all that person can do is make the press release with the information given to her by the client.  But because she sent it out like that, she lost credibility.  Now when I see press releases by this person I have to stop and think before posting it and wonder, should I really post this?  Is this information real or legit?

Today another such thing came through my mail.  It was the PR guy for Wicked Pictures.  Each week he has to send out emails about some new movie or what not, each time spelling Jessica Drake’s name “jessica drake”.  While to the rest of the world it looks really stupid and it makes the guy sending out the release look like a dumb ass for not knowing that you capitalize the first letter in someone’s name.  In reality he’s not a dumb ass. he just has to spell it that way because she’s the talent and for whatever reason she feels like she wants her name out there like that.  Of course it’s the PR guy who is sending out the press releases that loses credibility over it because he looks like he’s sending press releases with major typos in it every week.  Most people don’t know it’s the performer in question who is making such idiotic demands.

Wicked Pictures is pleased to introduce jessica drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Basic Positions, the latest breakthrough educational release from Wicked Pictures.

I know I personally go out of my way to try and not post press releases when specifically about Jessica Drake just because the whole name thing annoys me to no end.  I just can’t get how she doesn’t get that spelling her name like that is only embarrassing to her.  How does she not get it makes her look stupid?

Why is it we do this with talent / clients?  Why can’t we just go to the person and say listen you look like a dumb ass for spelling your name in all lower case, people are making fun of you behind your back all the time over it …  You focus on doing what you do best, making movies and let the marketing experts do what they do best???

I know she’s the talent and we have to pat her on her little head, put on a fake smile and do what she tells us to do but things in life would sure be a hell of a lot easier if we could just be totally honest all the time.

LOL

Okay /rant off

XBIZ Pimps Out More XXX Loving

A few people have asked if I have any recent news about .XXX and really I don’t have anything new for you other than the fact that XBIZ continues to push them and further hurt their credibility and further insuring that no matter what major changes may come at AVN, their award show will always be the superior one, just quite simply because XBIZ continues to publicly associate itself with enemies of the industry.  Hey … anything for a quick buck, right? ^^

I think really Sara Jay says it best when she tweeted today ….

SaraJayXXX : Just sat thru an .xxx seminar today @xbiz eu ..was a pathetic attempt 2 sell us some unnecessary bs & segregate us from the rest of internet

Some Crazy Job Perks

Read an interesting story today on CNBC about Outrageous Workplace Perks and I thought I would share with you. [source]

If a company hopes to impress potential employees and retain the ones already on board, it’s no longer enough to offer the token fitness room and free coffee in the break room.

Some employers are super-sizing their benefits and perks, and hopefully this trend is here to stay. Internet startups and tech companies have been at the vanguard of the covet-worthy corporate culture since the days of the dot-com boom. The best of these sound like day camp for (semi-) grownups.

As for some of the popular new benefits, they fall into a few categories. For the elbow-benders, Miller-Coors has a pub for employees, but so does Yelp (which is rated 5 stars on Yelp.com). Company meals are another big treat—Etsy offers the locally sourced weekly meal with requisite cutesy name “Eatsy.”

A major trend in workplace benefits are include health and fitness initiatives, as well as and team spirit and morale- building traditions like Friday parties and rewards for outstanding performance. Less common but still trending are pet insurance/ pet sitting, flexible hours, and working from home options.

Of course, people who work in publishing get loads of free books, airline employees get flight benefits, and so on, but we uncovered some of the less expected perks from 11 generous employers. Another tendency among these companies offering great benefits is they claim to offer great pay as well. Imagine that! Now click on ahead and prepare for some perk envy.

Netflix

A lot of the companies in this slideshow are generous with the vacation days, but the movie rental and streaming service Netflix doesn’t bother to set a limit. It also doesn’t require a 9-5 work day, which is all part of the Los Gatos, Calif., company’s “freedom and responsibility culture.”

“There is also no clothing policy at Netflix, but no one comes in naked,” the company website’s careers page reports. “Lesson: You don’t need policies for everything.” Its five-word policy for expensing, entertainment, gifts, and travel is: “Act in Netflix’s best interest.” All employees are allowed $10,000 per year for health benefits, and whatever they don’t use, they get to keep, so it literally pays to be healthy.

Akraya

Akraya is a staffing company in Sunnyvale, Calif., that places employees in information technology, engineering, marketing, and creative positions.

Inc. reported that the company allows employees to work from home during rush hours to avoid the aggravation of traffic, but even better, it sends professional cleaners to tidy up employees’ homes twice a month.

“Dropbox is a pretty sweet place to work,” it doesn’t mind saying itself on the company’s  careers page.

Among the benefits offered to employees at the downtown San Francisco data-storage startup’s office: The option to build or buy your dream computer, a music studio outfitted with everything including drums, P.A., and amps, not to mention other treats, such as whiskey Fridays, Laser Tag, and a Dance Dance Revolution arcade machine.

Azavea

The Philadelphia geospacial-technologies software company Azvea allows employees to use 10 percent of their workday for personal research projects or training, and offers paid maternity and paternity leave. (What is this, Denmark?) Other perks include public transit and biking reimbursements to lessen the number of cars on the road, as well as domestic partner benefits.

NuStar Energy

Texas-based NuStar Energy produces fuels and is one of the nation’s top suppliers of asphalt. According to the company’s employee handbook, their benefits, including retirement plans, are valued at 47 percent of the average employee’s compensation.

That’s great and all, but NuStar has one massive perk that’s garnered media attention: employee use of its corporate jet. This doesn’t mean Joe Sixpack NuStar Employee can jet off to Dubai on a whim. A representative described a few of the jet’s uses: “We sent the plane to pick up one of our employees who was working temporarily at our facility in St. Eustatius in the Caribbean and was facing a health issue. Within 24 hours, the corporate jet picked him up in St. Eustatius and got him back home so he could get the medical attention he needed. And last year, one of our corporate employees lost a family member in a tragic accident, so we dispatched a group of employees to Louisiana to attend the service and provide support to the family. The good news is that we haven’t needed to send the plane on many occasions, but it is available if needed.”

LoadSpring Solutions

LoadSpring Solutions, a Lawrence, Mass.-based company of about 23 employees, creates project-management software. Employees who have been with the company more than two years are granted $5,000, plus an extra week of vacation time to travel abroad, according to Inc.com.

Chesapeake Energy

The nation’s second-largest producer of natural gas, the Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy, is also a producer of unusual workplace perks. The corporate campus features a 72,000-square-foot fitness facility, tanning beds and spray tanning, free scuba certification, an employee garden the size of a city block, and one perk that ensures employees will be smiling with artificially rigid foreheads: A health and dental center with dermatology treatments, including Botox.

Genentech

Genentech is a founder of the biotech industry and one of the world’s top biotech companies. The South San Francisco company’s corporate culture is described on its website as “casual intensity.”

“Most days you’ll find our executives wearing jeans and sneakers, and it’s not unusual to walk into research labs and hear rock ‘n’ roll blaring,” the company declares.

Benefits include free counseling, legal advice, tuition assistance, a childcare center, haircuts, weekly car washes, dog sitting, nursing rooms, seasonal produce stands, and two libraries. Here’s the big one: After every six years with the company, employees may take a six-week paid sabbatical.

Reitmeier Mechanical

Reitmeier is a medium-sized company in Tulatin, Ore., providing services to construction sites, such as HVAC design/build, sheet-metal fabrication and installation. Oregon Business described the company’s benefits in an article about the 100 best companies to work for in the state.

Reitmeier workers have free use of an on-site mechanic, and, to no one’s surprise, the CEO David Rich indicated in the article that they make frequent use of the perk. In addition, the company pays for gas for some employees, and tuition for those pursuing higher education.

Qwiki

Qwiki is a startup located in the South Market district of San Francisco that aims to change the way online information is presented, delivering it in a new audio and visual format.

The small company is expanding their staff and it helps that they promise to buy employees a bike, or they can expense their train fare. The company will also reimburse for membership at any gym, and they provide catered meals all day.

Integrated Archive Systems (IAS)

Other large corporations offer subsidies for employees who purchase a hybrid vehicle, but it’s normally in the range of $2,000 to $5,000. At Integrated Archive Systems, an IT infrastructure integrator in Palo Alto, Calif., workers are offered a $10,000 subsidy to purchase a hybrid, as part of its Eco-Responsibility program. Founder and CEO Amy Rao is an environmentalist and a Honda Civic hybrid driver herself. According to HybridCars.com, more than half of the employees have taken advantage of the program since its inception in 2004.

Playboy Magazine Facts

You hear lots of talk about the decline of print media including newspaper and magazines.   I was talking to a friend who was involved in the launch of an adult print mag internationally, so it got me thinking about our own adult magazines and what kind of numbers they are actually doing.

After doing a little digging I was really surprised to learn that even with declining figures, Playboy magazine still has a worldwide circulation of 2.6 million a month.  In comparison Penthouse has an rumored worldwide circulation of 350,000 and Hustler Magazine has a rumored circulation of below 500,000.

I really have no point with this story, I just thought you might be interested as I was about the actual facts and figures.  I found the information fascinating and I thought you might as well.
