Adult industry attorney Corey D. Silverstein led the most recent event in Silverstein Legal’s Legal Impact series last week – and if you missed it, you’re in luck! The recording is currently available on
YouTube.
“Age Verification Legislation: What the &^$% is Going On?!” was live-streamed on March 20, 2023. In addition to Silverstein, the event featured special guests attorney Lawrence Walters, performer and producer Charlie Forde, and Grooby CEO Steven Grooby, was sponsored by YourPaysitePartner, and was hosted by sociologist Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals.

"I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to put together this panel of industry superstars,” Silverstein said. “The discussion of age verification in the adult industry needs to be proactive versus reactive, and the fact that so many states are racing to pass new age verification laws proves that very fact."
Dr. Tibbals echoed Silverstein’s sentiment.
“All too often, we find ourselves ‘surprised by’ and reacting to mainstream initiatives levied in opposition of our community – even those that come under the guise of protecting fragile, vulnerable populations,” Dr. Tibbals said. “The notion that we need to take action as a community, in spite of differences we may have amongst ourselves, is vital to the sustained wellness and success of the adult entertainment industry.”
Dr. Tibbals continued, stating, "The idea that the mainstream world can and will continue to be manipulated by lawmakers’ and politicians’ misrepresentative tactics is an indicator that we cannot wait for reasonable people to stand up for free speech. We have to do it ourselves, together.”
“If you weren't able to attend this panel live, you have the opportunity to still be part of this educational session,” Silverstein said. “Making sure you are aware of the current state of age-verification legislation in the US is the first step to taking collective action.”
What do California, Utah, Tennessee, Kansas, and Florida all currently have in common? They, along with several other US states, all currently have pending age verification legislation on the books… in 2023! Although this issue was presumably handled with the Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union decision back in 1997, age verification is back – what the &^$% is going on?! Have a listen to the event recording to find out.
