Award-winning adult star Tommy Gunn sat down on The Stoner Jesus Podcast with hosts Joe Kline and SithKitten for a candid conversation about redemption, survival, and sobriety in the latest episode of the popular podcast. Beyond discussing his personal journey, Gunn also provided exciting updates on his literary and documentary projects, including his new book and his latest collaborations with filmmaker Joel Van der Molen.
During the interview, Gunn opens up about his early life, detailing his time as a dancer in the 1990s, and takes a serious turn as he discusses his prior drug use as a young man. He reveals how substance abuse nearly cost him his life and recounts the turning point that led him to sobriety. Gunn credits a renewed interest in bodybuilding and healthy living, combined with his entrance into the adult industry at age 36, as the catalyst for his recovery. “The adult industry saved my life,” Gunn asserts, explaining that he realized he could not perform or act at his best if he continued to abuse substances.
In addition to his personal history, Gunn highlighted his recent creative output. He discussed his compelling new book, Tommy Gunn: Unloaded, and teased the imminent release of the audiobook version, bringing his written stories to life for listeners. Gunn also touched on his documentary work with director Joel Van der Molen, specifically Fans Only: The Human Side of Porn and the follow-up, Fans Only 2: Dreams Fame Desire. During the conversation, Gunn dropped a hint about a third, yet-to-be-titled installment of the Fans Only series, suggesting there is more to come from the franchise.
The episode also featured Gunn recounting a hilarious behind-the-scenes story from the set of the blockbuster adult film Pirates. While filming a sword-fighting scene with co-star Evan Stone, the director wanted to extract a more intense performance from Gunn. Unbeknownst to Gunn, the director instructed Stone to provoke him intentionally during the take. The ploy worked perfectly, resulting in a genuine rise out of Gunn and a reaction so authentic that the very next take was the one used in the final movie.
Despite the heavy topics, the episode maintains the show’s signature laid-back and humorous atmosphere. A standout moment occurs when co-host SithKitten enthusiastically identified Gunn and his fame, drawing a genuine laugh from the guest and the hosts alike. Gunn also regaled the hosts with stories from his younger days, including the invention of an electric-powered bong made from an old hair dryer that he and his friends dubbed the “Tur-Bowl.” He recalls a chaotic memory of powering the contraption inside a friend’s car, which resulted in the vehicle being completely filled with smoke.
While the “Sesh” is a staple of the show, Gunn takes a unique approach to consumption. He mentioned preferring older “O.G.” style strains but noted that he doesn’t use cannabis much anymore these days. Instead, he opts for an occasional smoke to chill out or sleep, but more often than not, prefers small amounts of mushrooms if he chooses to indulge at all.

Reflecting on his appearance, Tommy Gunn commented: “I had a great time talking with the gang on The Stoner Jesus Podcast, and I would encourage everyone to give this, and other episodes, a listen. The show is about all sorts of fun … and serious issues, and I was very happy with the appearance.”
When reached for comment, Joe Kline said, “Tommy is an absolute legend in the entertainment world, and Sith and I have been fans for a long time – for some of the same reasons and for some different reasons in Sith’s case! It was an honor having Tommy on the show and hearing some great stories as well as learning more about the Fans Only documentary series and the things that Tommy is passionate about!”
