Inari Vachs Camming for a Cause

Streamate Shows Helping Raise Funds for Raven Alexis

Adult superstar Inari Vachs is known among friends for her big heart and she’s showing it yet again by helping raise money for Raven Alexis with her cam shows.

Raven, who entered the adult industry in 2009, was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year. Inari, a former AVN Female Performer of the Year and by far the biggest comeback star of 2011, said that she is happy to help the 24-year-old Alexis.

“It’s hard to think of a better cause,” Inari said. “It’s a really sad situation and reminds us all that this kind of thing can happen to anyone.”

A portion of the revenue generated from Inari’s Streamate cam shows, which can be found at www.inarivachs.cammodels.com, will go to Raven.

Inari also continued her co-hosting gig on the Paulie K Show this week, bringing shock and awe to the New Yorker’s hilarious show. Inari also stars in the Sweet Sinema hit 6 1/2 Weeks, which is doing well on the AVN Retail Buzz chart.

You can follow Inari Vachs on Twitter  @RealInariVachs.

XRCO Adds 3D Category

The X-Rated Critics Organization is proud to announce the addition of a new award category for the 2012 XRCO Awards Show. Beginning next year, the XRCO will add an award for the “Best 3D Release.”

Our industry is always changing,” says XRCO’s Dirty Bob. “Adding an award for the best 3D release is something we knew we needed to do. Some of the most interesting features offered by the adult film industry are coming out in 3D. Keeping up with technology and recognizing those who use it well is part of what makes the XRCO so special. I can’t wait to see the best efforts from this category.

The number of 3D adult features has increased greatly over the past two years and some of the biggest movies are now taking advantage of the new technology. Last year’s “This Ain’t Avatar XXX” from director Axel Braun and Hustler Video was just one of the impressive 3D titles that hastened the addition of the new category.

Earlier this year, the XRCO became the first adult awards show to add a “Best Parody: Comic” to recognize the quality releases based on comic book and super hero characters. XRCO now features three parodies categories covering comedy, drama and comics.

Both “Best 3D Release” and “Best Parody: Comic” will be added to the 28th Annual XRCO Awards Show in spring of next year.

XRCO thanks it’s 2011 Awards Show sponsors Adam & Eve, Deep Throat Energy Drink, Evil Angel, IAFD.com, Wicked Pictures and X Play.

Was the Sasha Grey scandal really just a publicity stunt?

I got an email today but I want to be clear, I don’t know if it is true.  So let’s consider this an unfounded rumor.

Hope you don’t believe all the bullshit you are reading about Sasha Grey. It was all a well crafted, very planned out stunt to get her in the news.

The email rambles on a bit and then goes on to say that since she quite making movies a few years ago to pursue more artistic endeavors, the mainstream world hasn’t been beating a path to her door as she had once thought they might.  This anonymous insider claims that life after porn for Sasha wasn’t quite as wonderful as she thought it was going to be.

But he also says this recent publicity stunt wasn’t her idea however she did go along with it. Someone in her camp came up with a seemingly innocent way to get her name in the news again and that was by reading to children. They knew it would be a controversy and this source even goes on to claim it was one of her inner circle that first placed a call to the school to complain and then right after to the LA Times to say parents were calling the school in outrage. When the LA Times didn’t act fast enough they turned to other media outlets like TMZ.

I don’t know if anything is anonymous source says is true but if it is, it worked. Sasha Grey reading to children is all everyone was talking about yesterday. And can you really blame her for wanting to be more famous?  It’s not like other people haven’t done similar things in the past like faked leaked sex tapes or calling in tips to the paparazzi that they’ll be at certain locations.

Really pulling a publicity stunt like this makes her more mainstream just by having done it in the first place.  So kudos to her.

Go get your famous on Sasha!  We support ya girl!

The Adult DVD Top Selling DVDs

Every month the big sites talk about the hot new releases that are topping the sales charts but truth be told, most consumers don’t shell out the big bucks for the new releases.  Most consumers wait until they’ve been out awhile.  In fact, most people don’t know this but a very large percentage of brick and mortar stores don’t even carry the new releases.

I got a list of about 7,000 retail stores in the US, including over 3,000 of which were in the state of California alone.  I made my way down the list day after day trying to convince them to carry a copy of a movie I had produced – my first ever movie actually.  The most interesting thing I found out about most of these real world adult stores (minus the big named chains), is that they don’t typically keep up with the latest releases or even remotely care about the latest and greatest new titles out.  How they typically make their purchase is by calling their distributor, asking for a 20 or maybe 30 pack of random, low cost titles.  These are a random selection of catalog feature films (those movies that have been out awhile), compilation and lower budget gonzo titles.

I am talking thousands and thousands of retailers told me this story time and time again.  Yet when you go view those AVN top charts, you never -ever- see this information reflected in the sales charts.  All you ever see are the hottest new movies, by the big studios.  Sure some retailers will buy a few of the bigger known new releases at the customers request but for the most part that isn’t how the ordering is going on.

The weeks and weeks me, my housekeeper, her husband and my sister sat down calling every adult store we could find was the most eye opening experience ever in terms of marketing.  The few who do make selected purchases, almost every time say they do so based on the look of the box cover alone.  They don’t care who is in the movie, what studio it is or even what the movie is about.  They just make the selection on how great they think the cover looks.

So again it got me thinking.  If the sales charts we’ve been reading every month aren’t really all that accurate or apparently all that honest, then what are the hot selling movies.  So I picked up the phone and call my friends over at Adult DVD and asked them.

The first thing out of the ladies mouth was oh well Katwoman XXX is doing great.  I told her she could stop right there.  I know Katwoman XXX is a great movie, I truly don’t doubt that it is selling well but I would like the truth, not the media hype.  What are the real customers, really buying.  She said Katwoman XXX really is one of their best selling new releases, but overall the best selling movies really are and always have been the older, lower priced titles.

And that is of course what I suspected all along.  So I asked her to give me a list of those titles and here is what we have … the Adult DVD hottest selling DVDs based on sales for last month.

  1. My MILF Boss 3
  2. My First Sex Teacher 18
  3. Big Wet Asses 16
  4. Superstar Freaks (4 Hours)
  5. Super Tight 2
  6. Mommy Blows Best 2
  7. Can’t Be Roots XXX
  8. Best of Young Gushers (6 hours)
  9. Adult’s Biggest Dicks (8 hours)
  10. America’s Hottest Super Sluts (4 hours)

Steve Hirsch to Receive Visionary Award at AVN Awards

Steve Hirsch to Receive First-Ever Visionary Award at the 2012 AVN Awards

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—AVN Media Network is proud to announce that Vivid Entertainment co-chairman Steve Hirsch will be the receipient of  the first-ever Visionary Award at the 2012 AVN Awards. This special award was created to recognize and honor a leader in adult entertainment that propelled innovation and took their company—and the business as a whole—to heights never achieved or even previously thought possible.

For the complete story on AVN, visit http://business.avn.com/articles/video/Steve-Hirsch-to-Receive-First-Visionary-Award-at-AVN-Awards-454298.html.

“I’m honored and excited to accept the award, not only for myself, but this is really for the entire team of people who we’ve been fortunate enough to work with for the past 27 years,” Hirsch told AVN. “So I look at this as an award for the company, more than I do for myself personally, though I’m happy to accept it.”

Hirsch founded Vivid 27 years ago with a partner, and released its first movie, Ginger, starring the studio’s first contract girl, Ginger Lynn, in 1984. Since then, not only has the studio changed the way movies were shot, but also changed the way they were marketed, packaged and sold.

Hirsch’s and Vivid’s list of “firsts” and innovative business applications for adult is long, but a few of the company’s most “ahead of the curve” accomplishments include the first wave of branded contract girl superstars; creating a new style of box covers; being featured on two reality shows on Showtime; being the first adult company have a billboard on Sunset Boulevard; becoming the first adult production company to own a hardcore cable network bringing XXX content to people’s TVs; the first to hire a mainstream publicist to court press; ushered the celebrity sex tape into the spotlight with Pam & Tommy Lee: Hardcore and Uncensored; one of the first adult companies to produce DVDs; and many more.

From the beginning it was clear that Vivid would be a company that sought to successfully apply a mainstream Hollywood marketing approach to reach consumers on a big scale.

“When I heard that AVN was creating a Visionary Award and giving it to Steve Hirsch, I thought it was a perfect idea,” AVN founder Paul Fishbein said. “Nobody in the modern era of the adult industry has been more innovative in mainstreaming their company image than Vivid. That made them one of the premiere brands in all of Hollywood, adult or otherwise. Steve and the company are truly deserving of this achievement.”

For Hirsch, the adult entertainment business was in his blood. His father, Fred, produced 8mm stag films and young Steve helped him out. But it was his sales job at Cal Vista in the early 1980s when Hirsch first saw the opportunity to create something new and bring porn out of the shadows and into the spotlight.

Hirsch is more than happy to share the credit for his company’s success with the many talented and dedicated people he’s employed, from his sister Marci, who supervises production, to Paul Thomas, who directed two movies per month for the company from 1986-2008.

“A big part of our success comes from the fact that when you find talented people it’s important not to micromanage them and allow them to be themselves,” he said. “And that’s when people are at their best—when you empower them.”

Lately, at least to the mainstream media, Hirsch has been the go-to guy for commentary on the adult business in addition to making headlines for releasing celebrity sex tapes and making offers to mainstream personalities. His media savvy and knack for generating headlines that further propels his company into the mainstream is legendary.

“Ultimately, all of that press is great, but if you don’t have the quality product to back it up it doesn’t matter,” Hirsch said. “You can’t have one without the other. You can have all the media attention you want, but if the product isn’t satisfying, then people will leave. Luckily we have incredibly talented people making great adult products so we have a loyal core audience in addition to tapping into consumers that are new to adult entertainment.”

Certainly Vivid has recognized trends in adult content early on and capitalized on them. Vivid Alt, Vivid Ed, Vivid Celeb and Vivid Superhero are all examples of giving new types of content a bigger platform and creating a larger audience for them.

For a company that prides itself on climbing to the top of the mountain first and letting others follow, Hirsch sees plenty of oppunity to expand in the adult space. The company that embraced technology early on, and plans on exploiting emerging distribution platforms for years to come.

“There’s lots of opportunity out there,” he said. “Certainly mobile is part of it, IPTV is very interesting to us, which both go along with creating unique product and that’s what we’ll continue to do. The market is there. There’s still a big TV business, still and internet business out there, a growing mobile business, an IPTV business that’s ramping up, and we’re in a great position to leverage our assets and take advantage of all of it. The brand really helps us. The way it’s respected and positioned afford us opportunities other people aren’t.

“We’ve been around now almost three decades and it’s difficult to keep reinventing yourself but I think we’ve been successful at it,” Hirsch continued. “We’re viewed as a company that continues to innovate, and I’m happy with our perception. We’ll continue to hold ourselves to a high standard.”

Hirsch will be accepting his Visionary Award in-person at the AVN Awards taking place Jan. 21, at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Happy 11.11.11 – Today is a day of enlightenment

Today is 11.11.11 and those who believe in the mystic or magical forces know that means it is a unique day indeed.  So what does the number 11 really mean?  Well I wondered that myself so I goggled it and here is what I found …………..

Number 11 is a master number. It is the number of illumination and is particularly connected with intuition (and other psychic experiences). If you’re familiar with numerology you know that you wouldn’t look at 11 as two 1s, but rather as either 11 or a 2. In this sense it is then connected closely to the number 2 which is the number of communication. 1 is about independence and self knowledge, 2 then is about communication. Once you’ve solidified your self concept then you move on to communicating that self with other selves. So, 11 being a number of enlightenment (illumination) it’s connection to 2 is more about communication between the higher self and the lower (physical self). It’s about the connection between the physical and metaphysical. 11 is about moving beyond the concerns of the ego and exploring the collective consciousness.

Number Eleven possesses the qualities of intuition, patience, honesty, sensitivity, and spirituality, and is idealistic. Others turn to people who are ‘Eleven’ for teaching and inspiration, and are usually uplifted by the experience.

In systems such as Astrology and basic Numerology, eleven is considered to be a Master Number. Eleven can also represent sin; transgression and peril. Ten being the perfect number, eleven represents the exceeding of both. It is interesting to note that eleven when broken down ( 1+1=2) comprises the Two of duality. Number eleven is a master vibration and as such should not be reduced to a single number.People with this number could be both idealistic and visionary, and they are attracted to the unknown. They can be both unusual, interesting and magnetic personalities.

Eleven bring the gift of spiritual inheritance, is gifted as the “Light-Bearer”. It is the number of the Light within all. Strengthened by the love of Peace, gentleness, sensitivity and insight. Greatest facility is the awareness of Universal relationship. Is related to the energy of Oppositions and the Balancing needed in order to achieve synthesis. Eleven is The PeaceMaker… Colours : Gold, Salmon, Prune, White and Black.

Determining Your Life-Path Number

Let us say that you were born on March 29, 1968.

March is the third month–3

the day 29, 2+9 totals 11

the year 1+9+6+8 totals 24 which reduces [2+4] to 6

Now add 3 with 11 [11 being a Master Number does not reduce]=14 +6=20

Drop the zero, and you have 2 as your Life-Path Number.

The Dumbassary Award Goes To …. Wicked!

Read a rather interesting story today on Mike South’s website today [source] about the dumbassary of some people in our industry.  Just remember Wicked, when you dance with the devil, you will get burned!  Never forget that.  ^^

The Ultimate In Hypocrisy

If You guessed Wicked Pictures, go to the head of the class.

How fucking hypocritical can you get Stevie?  You put money directly into the pockets of the people responsible for stealing your product (manwin. TPB) then have the unmitigated GALL to file a civil suit on the customers of these very same sites that run your ads?

Google TV Just got a Whole Hell of a lot Sexier

VIVID ENTERTAINMENT TO LAUNCH GOOGLE TV CHANNEL TODAY

Vivid Entertainment, the world’s leading adult film studio, said today it will launch Vivid for Google TV, the first TV app designed to make sexually explicit content available through the new Google TV set top device.  The new channel will stream content in high definition to subscriber television sets and computer screens.  Members of the official Vivid website (Vivid.com) will get access to their Google TV channel for free.

Vivid for Google TV will be available at no additional cost to subscribers to www.vivid.com, which currently offers a package of features such as streaming of Vivid’s award-winning adult movies, celebrity sex tapes, XXX parodies of popular superheroes, educational videos and other content.  Access to the site is restricted to persons over 18 years old.

“Vivid for Google TV gives our fans a new way to enjoy Vivid movies in high quality HD and with other benefits that provide a very appealing, highly enjoyable, and user friendly experience,” said Steven Hirsch, co-founder and co-chairman of Vivid. “It is a central part of our making Vivid available everywhere concept, which gives fans unified access to our content through their personal computers, mobile devices, tablets, television sets and DVD players.”

Mr. Hirsch said no other adult companies are currently deploying a true Internet system that includes 24/7 access and constantly streaming movie content. “We spent more than a year developing a code base for a robust, standalone Internet-TV channel with a friendly interface for the consumer that can be used with the current Google TV technology and other Internet protocol presentation methods now in development,” he said.

Actually Mr. Hirsch was wrong.  The rumor is another major adult studio has been developing something for Google TV for awhile now although at this time the rumored studio hasn’t released any details.

As far as Vivid’s Google TV channel goes.  Apparently news of this has gone viral and every tech blog in the world seems to have picked up the story.
