EW’s First Look at Amanda Seyfried as sex starlet

This is Linda Boreman and her husband Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard) in happier times, before she would become known to the world as sex starlet Linda Lovelace through one of the earliest mainstream X-rated films, 1972′s Deep Throat. Later in life, Boreman (who died in 2002 at age 53) renounced her porn career and said she was pushed into it by Traynor, who beat and threatened her. While the world saw her as a fun-loving, sex-starved nymphomaniac, the reality of her off-screen ordeal is far darker and sadder than the fantasy she embodied.

The upcoming biopic LOVELACE will undoubtedly have a lot of sex and nudity, but it’s the soul of the X-rated star of 1972’s “Deep Throat” that Amanda Seyfried hopes to bear. Linda Lovelace (aka Linda Boreman) was a symbol of unfettered passion when porn became mainstream, but her back story is far darker.

 

In this exclusive EW photo, “Chuck has just gotten out of jail and told me that we are broke. We have nothing,” Seyfried says. “She’s worried about what measures he’ll take, what he’s capable of doing in this situation.” A life in the onscreen sex trade will follow-and Seyfried says she’s ready for what that will require of her. “The film will be both brazen and risque. It is very bold,” the 26-year-old says. “In order to fully share her story, I’ve never been more ready and willing to explore these dark and emotional circumstances.”

The movie is currently in production and doesn’t have a release date. Demi Moore, Adam Brody, and Eric Roberts recently joined the cast, alongside Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Robert Patrick, Bobby Cannavale, and Chris Noth. Lovelace is being directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, best known for another counter-culture movie, the Allen Ginsberg film Howl. Meanwhile, another film about Lovelace, Inferno, is currently in production starring Malin Ackerman.

The AVN Awards Spoofed on NBC’s‘Saturday Night Live’

The Charles Barkley-Hosted Episode Aired January 7 with a Sketch on “The Oscars of Porn!”

 

January 9, 2012 — CHATSWORTH, Calif. — With the 29th annual AVN Awards Show only two weeks away, this weekend’s Charles Barkley-hosted episode of the NBC sketch show Saturday Night Live included a timely segment featuring the “Oscars of porn.”

In the sketch, the AVN Awards were presented as the 17th annual “Adult Video Awards” as broadcast on the Spike network (the real awards air on an alternate cable station)—but they did choose as their comedic target a very legitimate portion of the AVN Awards: the memorial reel.

In the amusing sketch, SNL regular Bobby Moynihan, donning the signature mop-mane and mustache of Ron Jeremy, and newer cast member Abby Elliott, as fictional “Starlet of the Year Crystal Butt,” take the podium to introduce a tribute to such fallen industry notables as “Ricky Stroker, Actor,” “Tony Dingle, Pizza Guy” and “Dong Corleone, ‘The Dongfather.'”

This isn’t the first time SNL satirized the AVNs. In a 2007 sketch (http://business.avn.com/articles/video/AVN-Awards-Featured-in-Saturday-Night-Live-Skit-27039.html) with then cast member Darrell Hammond playing Al Gore, a genuine AVN trophy was featured as one of Gore’s myriad awards. Hillsborough, NC — The latest sex survey results from Adam & Eve reveal most adults take matters into their own hands once or twice a week. But while 27% admit to masturbating once or twice a week, the next highest percentage of respondents (19%) say they never do it. This is followed by18%, who admit they masturbate once or twice a month, 11% who masturbate once every few months, 9% who say they masturbate every day, 8% who say they rarely masturbate, and 3% who say they masturbate more than once a day.

Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sex expert, says, “Masturbation is a fundamental building block in human sexuality. It’s surprising that so many adults still look to their partners to please them, when they don’t even know how to please themselves. While encouraging, I do believe the numbers are actually higher. There’s still a social stigma associated with masturbation and previous research has indicated individuals tend to under report.”
