Wicked to Parody Risky Business and Harry Potter

musical The Rocki Whore Picture Show earlier this week, 2011 AVN award nominee Brad Armstrong is unleashing his creative energies on two more iconic pieces of the pop culture landscape – the hit 1980s sex comedy Risky Business and the wildly popular Harry Potter franchise.

Looking to the weeks ahead, his hardcore tribute to Risky Business will be the first to go before the cameras. “Our version will feature Kirsten Price in the role made famous by Rebecca De Mornay, while Kris Slater will be playing Joel Goodsen, the Tom Cruise part,” he reveals. “I  think Risky Business lends itself really well to the parody genre. At its core, it’s about sex and the selling of sex.”

When discussing his rendition, Armstrong is quick to point out that while it’s a parody, the new show will pick up the story where the original film ended, rather than just mimic key scenes. “We’ll be going to the next level, following Joel Goodsen as he goes to the university and a series of events lead him back into ‘the business.’ ” Production is slated for the end of January.

Later this Spring, the director will tackle an even greater pop culture challenge when he films his own take on the massively popular Harry Potter franchise amidst the castles and countryside of Europe. Like his parody of Risky Business, this rendition of the epic fantasy series will have a unique timeline. “In our version, we’ll meet Harry as an adult, years after Hogwarts. As we pick up the story, he’s a Criss Angel-style magician working in New York.” In this new tale, the appearance of evil new villains spurs Harry back to Europe – and into his familiar role as a heroic wizard.

At press time, no leading players have been announced, and Armstrong envisions holding open auditions to discover new talent, a process that yielded solid results on The Rocki Whore Picture Show. “We’ll be holding auditions because I want to discover new talent – even unknowns – to play the younger characters, including Harry, while we’ll be using established actors like Randy Spears to portray the veteran wizards and villains.”

As he looks forward to what may well be the most challenging project of his career, Armstrong sums up his ambitious goal succinctly.

“Simply put, I want to do it justice.”
