He’s been directing lower budget gonzo movies for a particular studio for about 6 years now.  While it is true he has over 200 directorial credits to his name, this is porn and that isn’t really saying much.    They are all for the same low budget type movies such as Fuck My Big Gaping Ass Hole volume 316.  Beyond that he hasn’t really contributed that much to the betterment of the industry.   Yet he felt slighted for not being inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame this year.  I can see if maybe he had directed some big budget features or did something, anything that contributed to the betterment of the industry but he hadn’t.  So yes, it annoyed me a lot about this guy and how some people have such a feeling of entitlement in this business.

Later that day my attention was drawn to a tweet by another person with the scent of bitterness.  She was complaining how her “fans” wouldn’t get the joy of seeing her at the AVN show this year in Vegas because nobody had bothered to hire her for the entire year last year.  She would ramble on a bit about how she is sorry to for her fans that wouldn’t get to see her at the awards show this year but maybe next year.  I’m sorry but if you can’t get a single booking in an entire year, you might perhaps want to seriously consider a career change.  Obviously this business isn’t for you.

Then today we had the post by Mike South who felt slighted for his lack of award nominations or to be blunt, because AVN didn’t see fit to induct him into the AVN Hall of Fame.  While it is true Mike South’s efforts in getting PWL taken down were an important contribution to the betterment of the industry ….. is that ONE effort, really worth a Hall of Fame entry?

I mean come on.  What else have you done?  IAFD shows he has less than 30 directorial credits to his name.  That’s not exactly ground breaking.  I think the little fuck who used to get me coffee has more than that now with his first month in the business.

So he’s been around a long time.  This is true.  About 17 years.  But in that time what has he specifically done for the betterment of the industry or that was so ground breaking?  He posts on a blog and often refers to other blogs as “lessor” despite the fact that the 4 he calls that have 2 and 3 times more traffic than his own.

He doesn’t live in porn valley or ever attend any porn related events.  At least not that I’ve heard of.  I read his blog quite often and over the years have yet to see any actual talk of him doing anything for the industry other than his rants on a blog.  While that’s all well and good, how does that actually entitle him to an induction in the AVN Hall of Fame?

He can lay claim to managing Kayden Kross.  That is something but then again about 900 suitcase pimps that are currently active in the business use that same argument to justify their own existence.

So not to be a dick, but really what the fuck makes you people think you are so God damn special that YOU deserve to be in the hall of fame?

Not just Mike South, who out of the three people I spoke about at least can say he picked a fight with Donny Long and got the fucking stupid site taken down.  But seriously people, why do you think so fucking highly of yourself?  GET OVER IT.   YOU AREN’T THAT FUCKING SPECIAL.

You made a few low budget fuck flicks.  That doesn’t make you worthy of a hall of fame induction.  It just means you did the exact same thing 4,000 other guys did.  You aren’t special for it.

Porn Valley – I talked to Jack Vegas Thursday night.  In the Mike South pick-a-Wiki sweepstakes, Vegas is now being fingered by some “impeccable source” as the latest culprit behind Porn WikiLeaks.  But, just to make sure he’s got his bases covered, South’s also tagging Keith O’Connor as another co-brains behind Donny Long’s operation.  South’s also been of the opinion that Joe Brandi’s another mastermind behind Porn WikiLeaks. The fact that Brandi has categorically denied such accusations doesn’t prevent South from using the blind man with a Remington 870 Pump Shotgun approach. I.E., you’re bound to hit a target if you keep coming up with names.

Fact remains, South’s yet to offer proof of any of the allegations.

Vegas says he’s had issues with a certain male talent who’s apparently South’s “impeccable source”.  “He thinks I fucked him over a couple of days ago. It’s been real petty bullshit. This guy is planning on leaving Los Angeles, and he’s been putting out all kinds of crazy rhetoric,” says Vegas.

Vegas gives me the probable source’s name, and I’ll keep it out of this article for the time being.  “He’s [the source] real bitter and he’s been putting the story out there,” says Vegas noting that his girlfriend has been the subject of Wiki-scrutiny as well as good friends Dick Chibbles and Tommy Gunn.

“All of a sudden this story about Wiki leaks shows up,” says Vegas.  “Now there’s people on Twitter looking for my head on a stick as a result of the Mike South story.”

Vegas says he’s contacted the guy he suspects as being South’s informant.  “He won’t answer the phone.” Vegas makes a very good point. In the six years that he’s been involved in the business he’s never had a negative thing written about him. Which re-emphasizes my point. The person or persons involved in WikiLeaks harbors a grudge against the business.  Vegas has always struck me as a stand-up guy and has always worked at getting along.

I also go back many years with Keith O’Connor. True, O’Connor’s very capable of masterminding an operation like PornWikiLeaks and he’s taken his lumps in some of the porn forums like www.xxxporntalk.com on other issues.  O’Connor’s a true computer savant and knows how to make a ton of money creating websites and using that knowledge. O’Connor was my webmaster when I had TheRealGeneRoss.com, but I know him from way before that.

Keith’s very knowledgeable about the industry and ran Defiance Films and was also a key man over at Metro for a time. Keith married Taylor Rain and had a kid with her. I assume they’re still together though I haven’t talked to him in awhile.  But Keith’s always been very supportive of my efforts and was a long time advertiser on AdultFYI.  Yes, Keith also loves to gossip it up about the business and stir the pot, but not in a harmful way as to damage people.

Regarding Vegas, none of South’s conjecture makes sense. And Vegas is telling me because of South’s article he’s already lost employment.  “One of the directors goes, ‘what the hell is this story with Jack Vegas leaking on WikiLeaks? Don’t book him no more.’”  Vegas says the story has damaged his reputation with a few other people as well and he’s contacted a lawyer.

I was going to leave the story there but then something interesting happened to me this morning.  I was on the phone with my grandmother, and we were joking around about something and she said “thou does protest to much” and it hit me.  Why didn’t we see this before?

There is a person out there who despite claiming to have found God and retired from porn, still actively visits and posts on any porn related website that she can find.  This same person invokes the name of God and then says in his name people should go to hell.  Who does that?

But what is most interesting is this person knowingly and admittedly participated in the porn wiki leaks website.  This same person also has publicly released the real life name, address, phone number, driver’s license number and other related information about someone in our industry.  Actually most recently she has been giving out more than few names and personal information on people in our industry.

During the past who weeks, anyone who has actually attempted to help in regards to the PWL website, she has attacked and verbally abused and in one case even making real life threats to them.

And that’s when it hit me — she proclaims so much, so loudly that she isn’t associated with the PWL website, but it’s like she does it to much.  So much that it seems as if she actually is the one with something to hide.

Could it be that Monica Foster really is the mastermind behind the porn wiki leaks website?  Or if not the master mind then perhaps a willing and active partner in crime?

I think there is more than enough evidence to support the possibility.

I’ll however let you draw your own conclusions.  There is enough people right now in the RED SCARE, I don’t want to add to it.

Many people reported that she was traumatized by the whole thing and ran away from the industry, never to be heard from again.

There was a lot of concern because she didn’t get tested as everyone else did during this trying ordeal.  Having had repeated unprotected sexual contact with an HIV positive person, as she was his girlfriend, they were all very concerned she might have been exposed as well.  I mean think about it, she had unprotected sex all the time with her boyfriend at the time, who was found to be HIV positive.  So it only makes sense that she could have contracted HIV as well.

It Ain’t About Piracy, It’s About The Money

Back in August of 2007 a California Judge awarded 5.4 million dollars to Jules Jordan in a copyright infringement case against a company called Kaytel. The amount was substantially reduced on appeal on the grounds that Jordan had no standing to file the suit. Yesterday the ninth circuit court of appeals re-instated the original judgement. At first glance one looks at Jules and thinks good for you man. But anyone who knows the facts knows this isn’t about fighting piracy, after all Jules Jordan distributes for Brazzers, whose owners own 5 of the 5 largest tube sites in the world. Tube sites that infringe the copyrights of every single company in this business. Brazzers, in the name of Mansef Inc. is currently under federal indictment on money laundering and other charges. Additionally Brazzers is facing a civil suit from Pink Visuals in the amount of 6.75 Million dollars for…you guessed it…. copyright infringement. So when this sanctimonious little douche bag starts wrapping himself in the “I’m fighting piracy” flag, remember he is doing way more to enable it than he is to fight it. Actions speak WAY loader than words.

The real stars like Sunny Leone, Savanna Samson, and Hanna Hilton have long ago moved on.  So really what Vivid did today doesn’t much surprise any industry insiders.  I mean what did they really lose? AJ Bailey and Lia 37?  Big whooop.  They weren’t STARS like real Vivid girls and they had no potential to ever really be big stars like so many of the Vivid girls in the past did.  Here is Fame Registry’s list of top ranked Vivid girls.  This list was last updated just the other day and look how low AJ Bailey is. She’s been a Vivid girl for well over a year now. She should have at least risen some in terms of popularity.

Here is the rumor I heard.  Steve Hirsch made his money on some big Playboy TV deal.  He personally bank a shit load of cash and since then just hasn’t really had any interest in continuing to work.  To quote an insider …. “He doesn’t really give two shits about Vivid or anything work related anymore“.   This seems to be true because they haven’t even tried to get REAL contract stars for a long time.  I mean how in the fuck do you let someone like Madelyn Marie slip through your fingers?

But just as rumors started to swirl that Vivid will close their doors all together Vivid started making ungodly amounts of money on their celeb line.  By this time they already ditched Vivid ALT all together.  They ditched Paul Thomas and then just started doing gonzo shit with B. Skow.  Then the celeb sex business really picked up for them so they kept going with that.  Then Batman XXX came out and they did extremely well with that.  AGAIN THESE ARE ALL JUST RUMORS. So the RUMOR is that they just decided to go with what is making them money hand over fist which is a celebrity line of sex tapes like the Kendra movie, a series of big budget parodies, and a few random gonzo movies here and there featuring girls they book like any other studio.  No more “contract stars” like they did in the past.

Why is no one writing about the fact that Alec Helmy let Stewart Lawley join xbiz.net and use the “Industry-Only Network” in order to promote .xxx? Lawley is “answering questions” (See “The Man Who Would be the .xxx King) on an XBiz Industry-only network even though, several years ago, he went to an XBiz show and proudly proclaimed that he is not part of the industry.

I can tell you why. It is simply because in reality Alec Helmy supports .xxx. He supported it early on and he still does, no matter what he might say to the contrary his actions speak much louder than his words.

One of the things I have always admired about Digital Playground is that the companies owner, Joone, is not afraid to leverage technology. Say what you want but when everyone else was crowing that they were shooting in HD (2 mega pixels) Digital Playground was shooting with the Red 1 cameras at 16 megapixels.

A few weeks ago Digital Playground announced that it was going to be launching it’s own cable TV channel.

Joone was kind enough to answer some questions for me about this.

The channel will be a Pay per view outlet, not a subscription based service and it will be available on pretty much all of the cable TV outlets like Comcast, Versizon Fios, AT&T Uverse, COX and Time Warner. When I asked if it would also be on satellite I was told that hasn’t been announced yet.

The service will begin offering only Digital Playground titles but in the future, the plans are to license other titles, as long as they comply with Digital Playgrounds strict quality and content standards.

There will be different versions for different carriers as well so if hardcore isn’t acceptable in your area, softer versions will be available. Joone emphasizes that the carrier will choose how hard the version they will offer is, they will also choose whether they carry the standard definition version or the high definition version..

When asked if direct delivery was likely to supplant the old go to the video store model Joone replied, ” I think in this day and age its not about a single format its about giving the consumer options. Some want DVD, some want Blu-ray some want online and some want VOD to their bedroom tv.”

The content will be exclusive, no other VOD (Video On Demand) Branded system will offer it. The release schedule will follow the Hollywood style of window releasing. Our theatrical has been DVD and Blu-ray and after that window we go into VOD. We want to maximize each window release.

I asked Joone what was the most difficult aspect of bringing this to fruition. “Making blockbuster movies that make money and creating a high end library. At the end of the day the deal was an easy one because we had the right content” was his answer.

Finally I inquired as to what is next for Digital Playground.

“We have our own toy line that we have been working on for the past year lunching in Jan. We did a sneak peek at the Berlin show to a very select group of big distributors and they where blown away by what we have. Whats exciting for me is that these toy buyers see hundreds of toys each week and they really love what we have coming out.

You know what is interesting is for years the Berlin show was about DVDs. This last show I went to it was all about Toys, and Toys you can not download so there is going to be a need for distributors and stores.”

For awhile now Mike South has been saying they have issues over there but fuck, who knew that meant they down right smoked fucking crack and took bribes.  Well that has to be the case because it would be the only thing that could possibly explain what I seen today.

In this month’s issue of XBIZ World we find out that the FSC named Video Secrets their Top Internet Business of the Year.  Not get this part of the award ……  they give the award out based on the efforts of the company  to provide consumers, merchants and affiliates and the public at large with an ethical product.  I never thought I would hear the word “ethical” associated with Video Secrets unless it was something like name something they aren’t.   No but seriously, how much fucking crack do the people over at the FTC really smoke?  Video Secrets?  Seriously?

So what we’ve learned today, you don’t have to actually be ethical to get awards for good business practices …. just know the right people.  Damn good to know that the company who claims to be working for our best interest has no problem promoting a company that has had such a shady past.

Video Secrets has been around a long time.  About 13 years I suppose.   If nothing else, you can at least give them that.  Throughout the years they have weathered problems with ownership, employees and rumors of shady dealings and things like very bad conversion ratios, double billing and shaving sales or stealing traffic through leaks.  The rumor of shaving sales has actually come up a lot over the years for Video Secrets.  I don’t know if anyone has ever proven they are screwing people but the rumor has been around long enough and comes up often enough to really make you wonder.

On the popular Playboy owned “GFY” or Go Fuck Yourself adult forums, a webmaster asked ” Which programs AREN’T worth signing up to?  I wanna know which cash programs that have screwed people over and haven’t paid them. Or shave from your sales.“

The very first post in response included Video Secrets.  But the thread didn’t just stop there.  Other webmasters would eventually chime in and say things like ….

“Amen brother, I would soon 404 all my sites and send the traffic to Google than send a single click to Video Secrets.“  That’s pretty harsh for a program who just won a awards based on the ethics of their business practices don’t you think?

And yet another webmaster said “Ain’t that the truth …. these guys are scum“.

These guys are scum?  Do you think that the people over at the Free Speech Coalition bothered to check into the years and years of accusations of wrongdoings by countless affiliates and consumers?  I don’t personally know if any one claim of fraud or unethical behavior has ever been proven to be true, including the one time rumor that Video Secrets back end affiliate software was created with the ability to manually manipulate affiliates accounts giving them the ability to shave sales, meaning we would just have to trust them not to do it …. but what I do know for a fact is that after so many years of hearing the same rumors and problems, even if they aren’t provable, I would think twice before associating myself with these people.   There have just been far to many complaints for there not to be a problem somewhere.

But hey, maybe I’m wrong.  Maybe after all of these years and all of these different complaints by countless affiliates and consumers, they – the consumers and affiliates are the wrong wrong and maybe Video Secrets really isn’t guilty of all those things people say about them.  I mean, seriously … what the hell do I know?

I know these fuckers never did send me my $1200, after my payment supposedly got lost in the mail not once, not twice but an amazing three times … but whatever.  Good luck FSC with your ethical company of the year.  It only goes to show, that Mike South apparently was on to something about you guys.

Mike South besides his own blog, also happens to run a TGP. Basically a TGP site is sort of a picture post site, where other people submit a gallery of photos on his site and in return he shares in the advertising on that page of photos. In other words, every submitted photo gallery much include a link back to Mike South’s TGP site and the owner of the TGP (in this case Mike South) must approve any gallery page submitted.

So anyway the whole point I’m trying to make is that Mike South and his friends were quick to condemn Eric, GFY and Playboy for benefiting from a company who owns an illegal tube site when he himself is doing the exact same thing.

Now before Mike South tries the expected response of he didn’t know, keep in mind that every single post submitted on his TGP has to be approved by him. As you can see from the screenshot above, the ad for Brazzers is very clear and right under his own name. You can’t quite miss that not once but MULTIPLE times.

So who cares if Mike South is pimping out Brazzers? Well remember earlier this week he called out Playboy / GFY for it.

Brazzers has been shown to be the owners of TrafficJunky (see link here on GfY), who works directly with illegal tube sites. TrafficJunky is the exact same site Mike South is up in arms about for them paying GFY for an ad. So he is in fact guilty of EXACTLY the same thing he is bitching about.

Well Playboy also happens to own a website called GFY, for years it was a popular message board for adult webmasters to hang out and talk shit.  Recently they got a new paid advertiser, which just so happened to be a company who also owns an illegal tube site.   This is one of the posted messages in response from the webmasters who frequent the board.

It has come to my attention that one of playboys assets has been advertising sites that steal its own product and then gives it away. I find it hard to believe supporting sites that give your product away will make you money. Playboy shares have dropped steadily since gfy started advertising sites that directly profit from the theft of playboy content.

Do you think playboy should take a stronger stance when it comes to who it advertises for ? Do you think playboy should stop supporting these sites ? or do you think supporting these sites that give away your product will improve sales ?

As you can imagine there was a huge uproar over GFY taking money from a site that not only owned an illegal tube site with tons of stolen content but that also included stolen owned by Playboy and Playboy owned properties. So here is Mike South and his friend’s response.

Truth is DirtyWhiteBoy and Nate deserve all of the credit, they worked all night to make the board look and feel familiar to GFY users, even to the point that we can restore your post count.

We want all of GFY’s participants to come join us and make this the industry’s best resource board, after all it is he posters that make a board like this successful and we welcome you all.”

Indeed gofuckgfy.com has barely been up twenty four hours and has already attracted such luminaries as Dean Capture and Gonzo and is already over 100 posts and growing by the minute.

Reading the rules on the board kind of sums up the atmosphere. The rules are “Use common sense”.

I’ll give Christian that. I’ll also agree that Kayden Kross probably didn’t make the best choice in advisors when the man on your payroll is going around making threats saying you bow down to him because without his okay he isn’t signing off on dick.

So basically if you are his enemy or he doesn’t like you for any number of personal reasons Kayden Kross can’t perform with you despite it possibly being good for her career. That’s not good business sense. That’s someone with some serious personality issues.

But then we come to the part of his story where he continues to try and discredit Mike South. There are many ways to do this without having t0 flat out lie. Because when you lie and people catch you in that lie it makes you look like a dumb ass.   What I’m getting to is the part about Christian talking about Mike South’s blog. In this rant he claims to have 15,000 visitors a day and talked about how his blog gets more traffic than Mike South’s blog.  Or maybe he really just doesn’t know better.  Maybe in his mind he really has 15,000 people view his blog a day even though really it’s probably more like 1,500.  Oh, or maybe it was a typo and he really mean 1,500.

AdultFYI – Lets review. Kayden Kross hires Mike South to “advise” her. Kayden knows my blog is read by 15,000 people daily. Kayden has had some negative press lately. Mike South then PURPOSELY ANTAGONIZES ME ON THIS VERY BLOG, when he knows I am going to respond. So the dude she hired to advise her and garner her positive publicity just purposely garnered her NEGATIVE publicity. Does that make any sense at all to anyone? Holy hell that was dumb.

This got me thinking. Man how the fuck does Christian’s blog get 15,000 people a day? That’s damn impressive. I’m not going ot lie – that’s damn impressive, especially considering the fact that there are some decently known porn stars whose websites don’t get that much traffic a day.

Taking what the man said at face value, I went to do some digging to see what kind of traffic Mike South gets in comparison.

I know how much traffic LukeFord.com gets each day because I can see my server logs. So using that as a base comparison I thought I would do a three way Alexa report on the three websites – LukeFord.com, MikeSouth.com and christiansingstheblues.com.

What I found is that the three were very close on the chart – so much so that you could barely tell the three sites apart across the bar line.

So I ran a report over at Compete.com. They actually have a very nice site analystics tool that some say is more accurate than Alexa. I don’t know if this is true or not but what I do know is that, at least according to them LukeFord.com gets the most traffic, MikeSouth.com gets about half of what LukeFord.com gets and christiansingstheblues.com gets slightly less than that. And even more interseting is that they are reporting Mike South’s traffic is up 23% this month, well for the month of November while christiansingstheblues.com seems to be down by 56%.

So our lesson today is this ……. if you are going to call soemone out for being a dumb ass and saying their blog sucks and yours rocks, make sure their blog isn’t more successful than your own.

Imagine how high production costs would go when companies had to have clean sets, new, unopened dildos in their original packages, eatable food, better costumes and makeup artists and pay the girls AND GUYS more money?  They would also eventually start demanding other things like health insurance, paid AIM tests, and so on.  Or does he simply mean organize porn companies and fuck the workers so that he now has a say in how you run your porno business and if he and his buddies don’t like you they can fuck you up and get you out of the industry.   Think of it as organized crime porn.  Don Derek? 2 Cents worth?

Now that we are fast approaching 2009, the adult entertainment industry is starting to show possible signs of faultier. We already know that the industry in general is shrinking and consumers are tightening the purse strings around their little money bags. Reports that various agencies have been slow maybe some what over exaggerated. Yes it is slower but no slower that it normally is this time of year.

The problem the industry is facing is a decline in production. Costs have gone up forcing many newer companies to shoot less. Of course many other factors are involved with the ever increasing number of girls into the business and other issues such as cancellations (which incidentally cost production companies money) or fees increasing to above $1000.

But the truth is, has the golden age of porn ended? Since the departure of Jenna Jamerson, many do not realize that she kept the industry in the lime light. But now with her back to the industry and the negativity felt towards the business in general, the public simply are not longer interested. You may sit and think that how can one person impact the industry and what has it got to do with anything? Well, look back at when she became the biggest thing in porn 2-3 years ago when every company was booming away.

The key now to success largely draws down to quality. No longer can random Joe and or Joesphine (have to be PC) just build a porno site and expect millions. We now have to work for our money. As history shows in any genre, the weak perish will the strong survive. Evident only in today’s stock market alone.

We need to start getting picky with what we are doing and who we are trying to impress. Remember, it’s not raving reviews or a popularity contest in the porn biz that makes you money. It’s the public’s perception that chooses what works and what doesn’t work. Just cause someone says it is the greatest movie ever made does not make it the best selling.

The adult industry needs to pull together to survive this. The industry, at its current point, is too disorganized and separated into too many pieces with everyone fighting for the same piece of pie. Mainstream films have never done so well this year celebrating some of the biggest box office takings world wide. Are they affected by the shrinkage or the economical down turn? The box office would certainly disagree. A lesson to some extent to be learnt here is that movie business is unified in some way. Could their ever be a Porn Union of some description one day? It’s not impossible.

So as we move into 2009, don’t just sit there are wait for the next big thing and ride off that wave. It may never come unless WE do something.

Only thing is, this was speculated about up to 4 days prior and actually revealed the day before.  So how great can your contacts me if you reveal something already known to the public?  I’m not trying to be a dick.  I”m just saying I wouldn’t go around bragging about contacts I had that gave me information that everyone already knows.  Here you have an image posted on a fan message board from the previous day showing the information was so common knowledge it was even on the stars MySpace page already. 

To quote him he says “I’ve worked in and around porn for about 8 years now, and I have good contacts.“  That may or may not be true but what we do know is that if you have good information and don’t reveal it until after everyone already knows, then really what is the point?
