Social media madness

Here’s an interesting little tidbit … Google receives over 4 million search queries every minute of every day. Which means than in any given day they get almost 6 billion search queries. (5,760,000,000) Considering the fact that the global internet population consists of only 2.4 billion people, that’s a lot of damn searches.

I looked up my history and yesterday alone I search 11 times. Had you asked me I would have said once or twice, but apparently I Google shit far more than I knew 😛

But what about other sites? Surprisingly twitter and Instagram are about neck and neck. Twitter users tweet about 277,000 every minute and Instagram users post 216,000 new photos every minute.

Vine and Pinterest are way down there on the list. Vine users only share about 8,333 videos per minute, while Pinterest users are only pinning about 3,472 images a minute.

Facebook is nowhere near the giant that Google is. It’s more around the YouTube range.

YouTube users share 72 new hours of video every single minute of every single day.  While those Facebook users are updating their statuses 2,460,000 a minute.

Porn Star Tweet

February 22, 2013 -- Las Vegas, NV -- On February 22, 2009 the social media revolution finally reached the adult entertainment business in the form of the launch of PornStarTweet.com.  Upon opening, the website followed 17 Porn Stars including Stoya, Jenna Haze, Devon Lee and a handful of others -- today the social media aggregator follows nearly 1,700 real life Porn Stars; plus operates 10 other niche sites focused on various different sectors of adult entertainment including Gay, BBW, Tranny, ALT, Cam Girls; as well as a thriving mainstream networks focused on sports, music, celebrities, politicians and entertainment.

"What started as a marketing gimmick 4 years ago has turned into a full fledged business", said Pete Housley Founder and CEO.    " I look back over the past four years, it's really humbling to recall all of the amazing support we've received from stars, sponsors, media and most of all fans around the world."

The Naughty Tweet Network, of which PornStarTweet.com is the anchor site, boasts over 400,000 followers on Social Media and tens of thousands of clicks daily to its network of websites.  Both Porn Star Tweet and the network as a whole have seen media attention from both the adult and mainstream worlds since their inception. Pete Housley has spoken on numerous adult industry and mainstream panels about Social Media; and the company owes much of its success to a strong consulting team.

For the third year in a row Porn Star Tweet will sponsor the forthcoming series of Exxxotica Expo (http://exxxoticaexpo.com) shows starting with the April show in Atlantic City, the largest event in the USA dedicated to love and sex.

"Being 'social' is more than just sending out Tweets and posting on your Facebook", said TJ Little, COO.  "What's made us different is we get out from behind the keyboard to throw epic parties, sponsor consumer expos and truly participate in the industry."

The company recently celebrated a  major milestone with their annual coverage of the 2013 AVN Awards Red Carpet. A contingent of the team lead by Ash Hollywood and sponsored by mainstream app Highlight Cam provided live social media coverage with photos and videos to more than 60 Million views around the world; a sharp increase over their 2012 coverage.

"Social Media changes every day", said Denise Kraft, Director of New Business Development.  "We are constantly looking at the next new thing and it shows in the options we can bring to the table to our consulting and advertising clients as well as our sponsors.  We've been able to work with some of the biggest companies in the adult business over the last four years and we continue to grow and extend our services portfolio."

Sponsors and advertisers are at the core of the Naughty Tweet Network who offers unique access to high percentage of mainstream users through Social Media attracting and retaining a new type of consumer who typically is unfamiliar with sources of free content like tube sites.

Google Me This … Facebook Me That

To a website owner there is nothing more valuable than that sweet ass search engine traffic.  It’s free and it is highly focused.  So if someone wants to find blue shoes with pink toe nails, they google that and find your site.  That is as specific as it gets.  If the site in question actually provides the end user with what they searched for then you can pretty much bet that traffic will convert at insane rates.

Website owners report that tube traffic converts for them at rates of 1:2500 to 1:30,000.  While search engine traffic converts to sales at rates as low as 1:25 and 1:300.  So what this means is, if a tube site sends you traffic you’ll make 1 sale for every 2500 to 30,000 people.  If a search engine sends you traffic you will make on average 1 sale for every 25 to 300 people.

So that is why so many people want that all to sexy search engine traffic.  So what is the most searched for word in the world?

According to an article posted on the site Factoidz [source], the most searched for word in the world isn’t sex related at all, like one might think.  Nope.  In fact it turns out the single most Google’d word is FACEBOOK!  2,060,000,000 a month, which works out to be about 25 billion times a year just in Google alone, people search the word Facebook.

Porn has a globally monthly search volume of 277,000,000, sex has a slightly higher search volume of 338,000,000 a month.  That means that each year on Google alone about 2.724.000.000 – that’s over 2 billion, almost 3 billion times a year someone search for the word porn and over 4 billion times a year (4,056,000,000) someone is out there searching for the word sex.

Are you social networking stupid?

Social networking sites have become an invaluable resource for adult website owners, not just because of the promotional opportunities but also because Google has decided to place a large amount of relevance on search engine results in the hands of those social networking sites.

Yet still hardly a day goes by that I don’t see some webmaster misusing the services of these social networking sites.  They seem to have no basic idea how the importance of the sites and instead just randomly spam them as if that will do them any good.  Then you see those same webmasters on industry boards bitching about how stupid sites like Twitter are.

I look at their spam accounts on these social networking sites and I can’t help but wonder if they really don’t know better or if they are just lazy.  I’m the kind of person who likes to see the best in people so I’m going to just assume they just don’t know better so I’m going to take a few moments and help them out.   I’m going to share with them invaluable information that will help some of these people take better advantage of social networking sites like Twitter.

I hate to call people out because so many people do it but look at this twitter account of a well known, award winning director.  (See Image Below)  You will notice that in 24 hours he tweeted 4 times and each of those 4 tweets are pretty much exactly the same tweet.  Can anyone say spamalicous?  He actually tweets the same message several times a day, every day and nothing else.  Does he think that somehow his previous 27 messages got deleted and his followers couldn’t see them anymore?  Or maybe he just doesn’t understand how Twitter works or that people are LOLing at him. I don’t know.  He’s actually a really nice guy so to see someone like him make this mistake makes me realize maybe helping you guys out is the right thing to do.

When you setup your twitter account the one thing you have to do is use it.

Now let me be clear, when I say “use it” I don’t mean spamming random things from time to time about your latest movies or some update on your site.

Instead what I mean is, actually get involved in the community.  Tell your followers what you did that day, what you ate for dinner, what you watched on TV.  Sure you may not have many followers today but the more you chat about random, seemingly stupid things, the more followers you will start to get.  Are you on the set today?  Take a few pics with your nifty iphone and post them.  Tell them about how you like blondes over brunettes and why that is.  Are you a website owner?  That’s great, put a link to your website in your profile but then really from that moment on your promotion of your site should stop.  From that moment on you need to focus on you the person, not you the website owner.  Talk about your favorite kind of socks and some movie you may go watch.  Go out of your way to do whatever you can to appear not to be promoting your website.  Sure you can make subtle references from time to time about how you are working on some updates for your site but for every one of those kind of tweets, you should have 20 more that are very clearly not self promotional.

Did you see some cool star in the sky?  Did some commercial you just watch annoy you?  These are all the kind of weird things you should be tweeting about.  Is your cousin’s ex boyfriend coming to visit you and you have to take them to tour NASA?  Great!  Tweet about it.

In time you’ll gain more followers, real followers, because you have become a real part of the twitter community and the more followers you get the more of an authority Google considers you.  Now every once in awhile you can tweet a picture about some hot new chick you’ve added to your website or some hot new girl you are going to shoot a scene with.  And by every once in awhile, I do mean no more than once per day.  That’s just enough to peak their interest in whatever it is your are trying to promote without rubbing people the wrong way and getting you labeled as a spammer.

So now you have this valuable social networking account.  Now every once in awhile you can tweet URLs that will help improve their search engine rankings.  You can also generate a buzz on anything new you have updated.  Congrats! 🙂

Facebook Files Suit Against FacePorn

For years and years I have been preaching to adult webmasters to be careful about doing things like using trademarked words in their names and websites such as porn stars who call themselves <something> Barbie or calling their site the Facebook of Porn or the MySpace of Porn, or sites like Booble playing off of the Google trademark.

Well much to nobody’s surprise Facebook has started a series of lawsuits for sites trying to infringe off of their trademark.

AVN.com ran a story day about Faceporn.  Read the story carefully because if you are trying to profit off of someone else’s clearly established trademark, it will eventually come back and bite you in the butt.  Not only does Facebook want this guys domain name but also any and all money he ever made from running the site.  That guy is so screwed and all because he didn’t think.

So before you go out and do anything, think carefully about each and every action you take.  Do you own that photo you are about to post?  Are you picking a name someone else may be using or have previously used?  Is a word in your name trademarked by some mega fortune 100 company?   Are you using someone else’s name, site, logo or content to promote your site in any way shape or form?  If you can answer yes to any of these then it is just a matter of time before you too will face legal troubles.

AVN STORY—So much for riding on the fortunes of face. Faceporn, an X-rated social network, has been sued by Facebook for blatantly copying “the Facebook logo, site and Wall trademark.” The site is currently offline even though the case is ongoing.

The lawsuit, Facebook v. Pederson, was filed Oct. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. According to court documents the parties are scheduled to appear Jan. 21, 2011, in a San Francisco courtroom for a case management hearing.

Facebook wants the court to order Faceporn owner Thomas Pederson to relinquish the domain and all revenue derived from it.

“We don’t believe Faceporn should be able to trade on our name and dilute and tarnish our brand while doing so,” spokesman Simon Axten told Computerworld Friday. “Where there is brand tarnishment, dilution, or confusion as there is with Faceporn and Facebook, we must enforce our rights to protect the integrity of our trademark.”

This is hardly new litigation territory for Facebook. According to the Computerworld article, “In August, the company sued a startup called TeachBook, claiming that its use of the word ‘book’ violated Facebook’s trademark. Teachbook doesn’t look much like Facebook, but it does give teachers a way to network online.”

The site may be down, but Faceporn vows to return. A message on a landing page reads, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, faceporn is down until further notice. We are doing our best to come back better than ever. We’re currently working to launch a completely new version of the site, and it will be the best porn site the world has ever seen.”

They probably shouldn’t rename it Bookporn, though.

The great porn debate

Pastor, Porn Star to Talk It Out

Don’t expect a shouting match… these guys can actually have a conversation

By: JONATHAN LLOYD NBC News

The subject of missionary positions is likely to come up in one form or another Wednesday night when adult movie star Ron Jeremy debates pastor Craig Gross.

Jeremy is one of the adult entertainment industry’s most recognizable figures with one of its most recognizable physiques. Gross is the founder of Triple X Church, Strip Church and Fireproof Ministries.

Although a porn star-pastor debate might not sound like the stuff of Lincoln-Douglas, the two have produced lively and insightful discussions in the past. Don’t expect a lot of emphatic finger wagging and podium pounding — they genuinely get along.

Here’s a post from Gross after their September 2006 debate at James Madison University.

“After the debate, Ron and I headed to,” Gross wrote.

That was after Gross picked up Jeremy in a rental car and trekked through a “ton of fog.”

“The debate lasted 2 plus hours,” Gross wrote. “Some great questions. I even spoke with a girl afterwards who said her whole view of porn was changed after hearing the debate.”

So neither participant takes himself too seriously. Watch these two reasonable men Wednesday night when they participate in “The Great Porn Debate” at Bovard Auditorium on the USC campus.

The event is free. It’s first come, first seated.

It’s also part of a ClickCast on Facebook. That means you can submit your questions about salvation, stimulation or the publicly funded healthcare option.

Let’s take a look at tonight’s debate participants:

  • Gross has 11,000 followers on Twitter. Jeremy has appeared in more than 1,000 adult films
  • Gross authored a book titled, “Jesus Loves You, This I Know.” Jeremy also wrote a book — “The Hardest (Working) Man in Showbiz.”
  • Jeremy was featured on “Bunny Ranch: Vol. 1.” Gross employs Rex the Rabbit to “help you navigate the issues of sex, porn and everything in between.”

Gross also has Pete the Porn Puppet to spread the word.

this debate is going to be on Facebook Live Broadcast right from campus at USC, check it out….http://apps.facebook.com/clickcast

Due to new FTC regulations regarding bloggers, I must disclose that at no time has Ron Jeremy, Facebook or that crazy church fucker given me any money to whatever. However that being said, the crazy church fucker should give me money just for having to look at that picture of his face. No seriously. Have you seen that hair? WTF is wrong with him? How does he expect people to take him serious with that fucking hair? GET A FUCKING COMB ALREADY!

Tweet Tweet Goes The Love Twins

The Love Twins, Lacey and Lyndsey Love have found their way over to Twitter with the rest of all the hottie porn stars doing their thing in cyberspace including Eva Angelina, Jesse Jane, Stoya and Teagan Presley.  Porn Stars on Twitter are THE hot thing right now.

Lacey Love tells us that exclusively that although they are taking a small break from filming right now they still want to keep in contact with their fans which they do from their official website, facebook page, myspace page and now through Twitter.

They’ve also recently added a Twitter app on their official website, that lets people who visit their website see their twitter updates in real time.  (view app here)

Lacey Love said that her and her sister will be doing a couple web and email interviews as well for fan sites over the next few weeks and if anyone is interested they can contact them through their official website.

love-twins-twitter

Since I had the Love Twins on the line I took a moment to catch up with them and find out what is going on their their lives.

So what have you been up to lately?

Well,  we’ve taken a small break from filming for right now.  We finished going to school and our internship and have started looking for work in mainstream.  But with the ecnomy the way that it is, it’s not so easy.  You would think in the medical field it wouldn’t be that way too but right now things are bad all over, in every field.  Even in the adult industry.  Prices for shooting scenes have plumeted and even being a porn star isn’t as profitable as it was even just a year ago.

That’s so true. I hear about girls doing scenes now for as little as $500 and that is from a girl who is really pretty decently well known, not some new no name talent! I’m floored myself at how cheap people have gotten when it comes to paying girls for work lately.

We got an invitation to work on a scene from a very well known company just yesterday from our MySpace page and the price was $200 to $300 for each of us, so that’s like $400 to $600. I couldn’t believe it. I was really nice but wrote back to the guy and was like sorry but we live in Ohio and what you are offering wouldn’t even cover our travel expenses to LA for the shoot. Thanks but no thanks.

I don’t know if I would have been as nice as you is someone would have offered me $200 to blow a guy. That’s just down right insulting.

LOL! People want the best price they can get and the only way they can get it if they ask. There is no harm in asking for a good deal. Doesn’t mean we’ll be interested but they can’t be faulted for trying.

You girls are so sweet.  You have such a good attitude about things.  I couldn’t be more impressed.

Being negative doesn’t really get you anywhere.  My sister and I know we are really lucky to have even gotten to work in one movie let alone all that we have and then things like the magazine covers are just a bonus.   We are truly honored.  And the fans we have are really the best.  We can’t say in the past few years we’ve really had any bad experiences with even one fan.

So that really is you on your website talking away to your fans?

We have a friend who helps us.  We met her through a contact through Vivid just after we ended our contract with them.  She’s most of the technical stuff for us because that’s not really our thing but every word you read is ours.  And all those messages we send out from our MySpace page, all of those are us too, 100%.  Nobody has ever logged into our myspace page ever but my and my sister.

There is a lot of talk right now about the Twistys Treat of the Year competition. What do you think about it and why in the world have you and your sister never shot for Twistys yet?

I don’t really know much about the Twistys thing but now that we do we’ll be voting today. As far as why we haven’t done anything for them yet, I guess they just haven’t ever asked us too. We would love to be in their site. We’ve seen it before. It’s very nice. We like it a lot.

Who do you think will win?

I don’t really know. I asked Lyndsey and she said she doesn’t know either. They are all really pretty. It’s hard to tell who will come out on top. I guess whoever has the most fans voting for them.

So you are taking a break from filming adult movies for how long?

It really just depends on the economy.  It doesn’t pay for us to fly to work in LA for a week if the money is not there for us to be made right now.  It just doesn’t make sense to spend more to go to work than you could make, know what I mean?  But we are not out totally.  We still do things here and there.  We are keeping up with all of our fans on our website, facebook, myspace, and through twitter now as well.

I heard you were going to try out for the Jamaica shoot for the Sungoddess XXX movie with Teagan Presley, Eva Angelina, Gianna Lynn, Bree Olson and Sasha Grey.  What happened there?  Why did you and your sister back off from that?

When we first heard about it we were both so excited.  The thought of going to Jamaica was great but at the time we were going through a transition, trying to do our internship and with all of that going on things got pushed back and well you know how all of that goes.   I guess it just wasn’t in the cards for us but maybe some time in the future my sister and I will be having sex on the sandy beaches of Jamaica.  Can you imagine?  How great would that be?

I couldn’t think of anything better to look forward to. Thank you for taking the time to talk to me. It was as always a true pleasure. I hope that you return to filming soon.

The Love Twins, Lacey and Lyndsey Love

First MySpace, now Facebook

As I reported earlier last week, MySpace kept up with their promise to stop all outgoing adult links and now anytime some porn star says something like visit my website, click here, the link is dead. Instead of going to the website you are trying to visit from Myspace you instead get sent to a warning page that says things like …

You have reached a link that is no longer in service. That means the link was very naughty, and, much like head lice, had to be eliminated before it spread.

So as Myspace is comparing porn to head lice that they must stop before it spreads, many adult porn stars were thinking of making the move to Facebook. But they can now ditch that idea as Facebook has now decided to make a similar move. In a recent article found on XBIZ we find that …

Facebook will now maintain a list of porngraphic websites and remove all links to such sites.

Interesting to say the least. For now smart porn stars and pornographers are using graphics (without actual href links) to give out their website address as they find that most porn surfers are smart enough to know how to type in things like LukeFord.com in their web browser. Although it may sound like a smart alternative, there is still the risk of having those profiles deleted for violating their high and mighty terms of service.

Is this the beginning of the end for porn and social networking?
