Each January, hundreds of adult entertainers come to Las Vegas for the Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) and Adult Video Network (AVN) Awards Show. This is an exciting and busy time for the community, but the demanding schedule can also leave entertainers tired and stressed.
The Cupcake Girls, a Las Vegas based resource and support organization for adult entertainers, partners each year with AVN to host an entertainers only Relaxation Suite at the AEE and AVN Awards Show. The Relaxation Suite provides a secure and relaxing environment where entertainers can receive complimentary hair styling and makeup from professional stylists, massages, a smoothie bar, a wellness room, a phone charging station, chef prepared food and drinks, swag bags, and raffles.
In 2016 The Cupcake Girls hosted over 400 entertainers at this event! The AVN Relaxation Suite is the largest and most expensive single event they produce each year, so why do they put it on? Because it is a unique opportunity to build awareness in the adult industry of who they are and the services and resources they provide. Most adult entertainers are independent contractors and don’t receive employee benefits, consistent wages, or workers compensation in the event of a workplace injury. The Cupcake Girls provide a network of free or low cost resources such as healthcare, financial counseling, drug and alcohol recovery programs, dental work, therapy, and legal advice.
