The Charles Barkley-Hosted Episode Aired January 7 with a Sketch on “The Oscars of Porn!”

January 9, 2012 — CHATSWORTH, Calif. — With the 29th annual AVN Awards Show only two weeks away, this weekend’s Charles Barkley-hosted episode of the NBC sketch show Saturday Night Live included a timely segment featuring the “Oscars of porn.”

In the sketch, the AVN Awards were presented as the 17th annual “Adult Video Awards” as broadcast on the Spike network (the real awards air on an alternate cable station)—but they did choose as their comedic target a very legitimate portion of the AVN Awards: the memorial reel.

In the amusing sketch, SNL regular Bobby Moynihan, donning the signature mop-mane and mustache of Ron Jeremy, and newer cast member Abby Elliott, as fictional “Starlet of the Year Crystal Butt,” take the podium to introduce a tribute to such fallen industry notables as “Ricky Stroker, Actor,” “Tony Dingle, Pizza Guy” and “Dong Corleone, ‘The Dongfather.’”

This isn’t the first time SNL satirized the AVNs. He’s been directing lower budget gonzo movies for a particular studio for about 6 years now.  While it is true he has over 200 directorial credits to his name, this is porn and that isn’t really saying much.    They are all for the same low budget type movies such as Fuck My Big Gaping Ass Hole volume 316.  Beyond that he hasn’t really contributed that much to the betterment of the industry.   Yet he felt slighted for not being inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame this year.  I can see if maybe he had directed some big budget features or did something, anything that contributed to the betterment of the industry but he hadn’t.  So yes, it annoyed me a lot about this guy and how some people have such a feeling of entitlement in this business.

Later that day my attention was drawn to a tweet by another person with the scent of bitterness.  She was complaining how her “fans” wouldn’t get the joy of seeing her at the AVN show this year in Vegas because nobody had bothered to hire her for the entire year last year.  She would ramble on a bit about how she is sorry to for her fans that wouldn’t get to see her at the awards show this year but maybe next year.  I’m sorry but if you can’t get a single booking in an entire year, you might perhaps want to seriously consider a career change.  Obviously this business isn’t for you.

Then today we had the post by Mike South who felt slighted for his lack of award nominations or to be blunt, because AVN didn’t see fit to induct him into the AVN Hall of Fame.  While it is true Mike South’s efforts in getting PWL taken down were an important contribution to the betterment of the industry ….. is that ONE effort, really worth a Hall of Fame entry?

I mean come on.  What else have you done?  IAFD shows he has less than 30 directorial credits to his name.  That’s not exactly ground breaking.  I think the little fuck who used to get me coffee has more than that now with his first month in the business.

So he’s been around a long time.  This is true.  About 17 years.  But in that time what has he specifically done for the betterment of the industry or that was so ground breaking?  He posts on a blog and often refers to other blogs as “lessor” despite the fact that the 4 he calls that have 2 and 3 times more traffic than his own.

He doesn’t live in porn valley or ever attend any porn related events.  At least not that I’ve heard of.  I read his blog quite often and over the years have yet to see any actual talk of him doing anything for the industry other than his rants on a blog.  While that’s all well and good, how does that actually entitle him to an induction in the AVN Hall of Fame?

He can lay claim to managing Kayden Kross.  That is something but then again about 900 suitcase pimps that are currently active in the business use that same argument to justify their own existence.

So not to be a dick, but really what the fuck makes you people think you are so God damn special that YOU deserve to be in the hall of fame?

Not just Mike South, who out of the three people I spoke about at least can say he picked a fight with Donny Long and got the fucking stupid site taken down.  But seriously people, why do you think so fucking highly of yourself?  GET OVER IT.   YOU AREN’T THAT FUCKING SPECIAL.

You made a few low budget fuck flicks.  That doesn’t make you worthy of a hall of fame induction.  It just means you did the exact same thing 4,000 other guys did.  You aren’t special for it.

Criteria for consideration is simple: female talent should tweet their sexiest photos to the official AVN Awards Twitter account, @AVNAwards, and include the hashtag #AVNTrophyGirls.

In order to be eligible, the candidates must have entered the industry in 2011.

The ceremonial trophy girls serve as a highly visible and prestigious assignment for rising stars within the industry. The duo is on stage for the duration of the awards show and featured prominently on the show’s cable broadcast.

The AVN Awards, the showpiece of the adult entertainment industry, is set to rock The Joint on Jan. 21. The Joint is a sleek and upscale 4,000-seat showroom that has the reputation as one of the most sophisticated and authentic venues in Las Vegas.

Both mega-stars were overjoyed when they got the call.

“Hosting the AVN Awards is something that every girl in the industry wishes they could do,” Leone told AVN. “It’s the biggest event of the year for every performer, the most high profile. I’m definitely up for the challenge. I’ll be in front of my peers, friends and people I’ve known for close to ten years now. I think that will make it easier for me. I’m honored and truly beyond excited.”

Olson, who became a media sensation this year after her stint as one of actor Charlie Sheen’s live-in goddesses, told AVN that her experience on tour with Sheen during his Violent Torpedo of Truth series of live performances prepared her for this hosting gig.

“This whole year has been unexpected for me; it’s been quite a year,” Olson said. “The AVN Awards is the biggest night for the industry and, really, everyone, even those who don’t watch porn, know about the AVN Awards. This is just awesome.”

Olson, the 2008 AVN Best New Starlet, entered the business in 2006 and immediately began her meteoric rise as the “go to” box cover girl known for her intense sexual performances. The blond from Fort Wayne, Ind. was a contract girl for Adam & Eve from 2007-2010.

Post Adam & Eve, Olson returned to her freelance gonzo roots to star in numerous videos for Bang Productions, Brazzers, Jules Jordan Video, X-Play and Twistys. Currently Olson films exclusive hardcore content for her official site, BreeOlson.com and is relocating to Los Angeles to pursue a career in mainstream entertainment. She’s appeared in countless men’s magazines and recently was featured on the covers of both Penthouse and Playboy.

While Olson is now pursuing mainstream opportunities, she’s formerly appeared on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Insomniac with Dave Attell, Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards,  Tosh.0, a Flo Rida music video and on Opie and Anthony and The Howard Stern Show.

“I’ve been in the industry for so long and this is something every single year I go and watch. This will be my tenth AVN Awards,” Leone said. “I was so excited when I was asked to present, but to actually be on stage hosting is just unreal—surreal—I just can’t wait. It’s not real yet. I can’t stop thinking about what I’m going to wear.”

While the pair has never worked together in front of the camera, both are completely enthused to get more intimately acquainted.

“To know that I’m hosting with Bree is incredible,” Leone said. “She’s so beautiful and nice. I think we’ll be a great pair together.”

Olson said that she met Leone during an industry event in Florida and believes the two will make a perfect pair.

“I’m so excited to work with Sunny,” Olson said. “She’s just gorgeous and the sweetest little thing. She’s totally my type; I love brunettes. She’s just stunning, drop dead gorgeous. I can’t say enough about her. Oh boy, I’m already getting excited!”

The dates for the Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE), Adult Novelty Expo (ANE) and the AVN Awards will remain January 18-21, 2012, but the venue is changing to the hip and happening Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

“I took on directing when I discovered the creative process of making a movie mentally stimulating and much more satisfying for me personally,” said Long. “I enjoyed performing but I wanted to challenge myself and I found taking something that I saw in my mind and making it a reality, which other people could enjoy watching, was very rewarding.”

Long began his career performing in dozens of movies that showcased his natural talent and knack for being in front of the camera. In 2006, decided to step behind the camera as a cinematographer, photographer, producer, and director. He’s been an exclusive director for Third Degree Films and Zero Tolerance Entertainment for the past three years, and in 2009 he won his first AVN Award for Best MILF Release for the best-selling movie “The Cougar Club.” He later won an AVN Award for Best All-Sex Series for “Addicted.”

Long has also made a point to branch out into TV, Film, Periodicals and Men’s magazines. He is the industry’s only Steadycam owner/operator and has shot a wide variety of subject matter including: SWAT team competitions, Mixed Martial Arts events, music videos, motorcycle stunts and television shows. In addition, he has had layouts and photos grace the pages of numerous magazines including: MAXIM, AVN, Club, Club International, Hawk, High Society, Hustler, Cheri, MILFs in Heat and Spicy Latinas demonstrating that his abilities aren’t limited to just filming adult films.
