Well sort of. Don’t get me wrong, Twitter still has major problems when it comes to keeping their servers up, but what they do now have is a way to make money to pay for more servers! Those who use the web interface of Twitter might have noticed a change in the Trending topics today and that is a little PROMOTED icon next to one of the entries. You click on it and you get the normal trending topics for that word phrase but at the very top you get a listing that is paid and in this case, paid for by Disney. Yes it works very much like paid keywords in search engines ala Google Adwords.
What’s important here is that for the first time Twitter had made a move to being a financially viable entity and that ensures the long term viability of the service.
