Big salary jobs in PORN with no degree required
CNN recently ran a story about jobs you could get that pay more than $50,000 a year that didn’t need a degree. Well I think they left off a few and I am going to list them off for you! Keep in mind these are all very specific jobs in porn, that although you don’t need a degree for, you may need some skills.
Porn Star (female): On the low end you can make about $500 to $700 a scene and that can go up to $5,000 the more attractive and well known you are.   A well known female porn star can easily book 4 or 5 scenes a month and that translates into more than $200,000 a year, not including money she may earn for other projects such as appearances and photo shoots.  On the low end, the girls tend to work more but are paid less as they are less known. However they still make a decent living, some girls doing as many as 20 scenes a month, some even more. The low end girls who are hard workers can pull in more than $100,000 a year, if they are willing to hustle and take any job that comes their way.
Talented Stunt Dick (male) :  These are the lesser known stars of the business. A reliable male stunt dick, I mean porn star who can perform on call can easily make $70,000 a year. Now if they are willing to go both ways, they can make significantly more.
Experienced Affiliate manager : When affiliate managers start out, they like most professionals have to pay their dues working for shit for pay. These guys make almost nothing often times work exclusively for commission. However on the high end, those who have some experience can earn $100,000 a year base pay plus bonuses and often time those bonuses are trips around the world and even sports cars.  It may sound crazy to pay these guys this kind of money but a good affiliate manager can make a business untold fortunes but to keep them, you have to be willing to kiss their ass. There are a lot of dumb asses out there that will blow any kind of smoke up your ass but there are also those guys out there who do have the experience they say and can perform the miracles they promise. When a company finds out, they will do anything to keep them.
Porn Star Publicist : To make it in this business a porn star learns they often have to be their own PR machine and that includes sending out tons of press releases, managing a website, myspace page, twitter account, facebook page and son on and son on.  And let us not forget the roll of booking agent and well all of that is on top of actually working for a living doing what a porn star does. So smart girls are hiring help and those are the people who do PR for them, including sending out press releases and running their MySpace and Facebook pages.  To just send out press releases you can expect to earn about $500 a month per girl, however you throw in managing their myspace, twitter and facebook accounts and you can increase that another $500 a month per girl. Get a few girls you do this for and you are quickly making upwards of $60,000 a year with very little effort. The hard part is getting porn star clients. Typically it’s a word of mouth gig so get 1 client, do right by them and they will tell their friends about all you do for them.
SEO Expert : Search engine optimization is really one of the biggest scams going around simply because it’s an industry that far to many people know far to little about so when they go to hire an SEO expert they don’t know what they really want or need or how to verify the claims these so called experts are making and get taken for a ride. But that being said let me be the first to tell you that a real SEO expert who can back up his shit can make upwards of $250,000 a year plus performance bonuses.  But finding this guru isn’t easy because everyone and their mother claim to be an exeprt at SEO.
Here is a true SEO story. I have a friend who ranks in the top 3 in Google for like 10 very popular porn star names. She’s held these spots for years.  More than 80% of all of the traffic to her websites comes from search engines, which as a result is very high quality traffic. Her work is easily verifiable. So one day she offered to help a guy out as a friend but would need him to cover the cost of her assistant for $2,500 a month.   He agreed to the deal so she took one of his websites, a domain he just registered a few months prior to that, turned it from a PR0 to PR4 website with more than 23,000 back links, without buying so much as 1 link or doing anything illegal or shady, within a few months. So the person has a proven track record of SEO skill, now takes one of his own domains and proves her skill with one of hers and now the time comes where the guy is going to invest a lot of money into SEOing one of his other domains. He’s dedicated a good chunk of money for this project. Does he hire this person? Nope, he lets some other guy talk him into spending nearly $60,000 plus the cost of “buying links”, which is an illegal SEO practice that could get his website banned from Google.
How did something like this happen? Is this guy we are talking about a total dumb ass? Well in reality he’s not. He’s actually normally a very savvy business man but even the best get taken in by snake oil salesman and more often than not, that is what you find in the SEO business so if you pursue a career in this area and are able to do it right, the amount of money you could make is nearly limitless. A smart company will snap you up in a heartbeat and pay you what they can to keep you.
Board Whore : Smart companies have caught on to the fact that message board signatures are great means of promotion especially when the person posting takes the time out of their day to make meaningful posts. So what does this translate to?  Well for about $500 to $1,000 a month a person will pay you to put their banner and link in your signature on one message board. There are 5 decently sized message boards in our industry, many more smaller ones, so just imagine the money you can make per board.  If you are really skilled and actually take the time out to make well thought out and informed replies on message boards, you can get up to $1,000 a month for the larger boards. That works out to be $5,000 a month or $60,000 a year. That’s not bad money considering it only takes about 1 hour a day to make a few well thought out posts on each of the 5 major industry message boards. If you aren’t that great of a poster or creative writing isn’t in your background, you could make the lower end $400 – $500 a month for the big boards and throw in some $50 a month on the smaller boards to make up the difference.
