Adult Industry News and Porn Star Gossip

Most people know by now that Google is God.  They have the majority of all search engine traffic.  I think the last time someone reported it at like 66% of all search engine traffic goes through Google. That’s pretty damn impressive and say what you will be the truth of the matter is, no matter how much hype you throw at something, if a search engine doesn’t produce relevant results then people just aren’t going to keep using that search engine.

According to an article on CNN, an ex Google employee created a new search engine.  This one is called Cuil (pronounced Cool).  Long story short this person brags about how the last search engine technology they created Google purchased and used to revamp their own engine.  But this time they created something even better and it’s not for sale.  Instead they decided to launch a website to directly compete with their former bosses and how is that going?  Well there sure is a lot of media hype about it.  Hell it was even on my local news as a hot story of the night.  Surely with all that media attention this new search engine is going to give Google a run for their money, right?

Well, not so much because remember what I said early on?  RELEVANCY MATTERS and if a person can’t find what they are looking for, they will move on.  So let’s give this a little test.

First we searched for Briana Banks using Google.  The first few sites are really relevant.  The first is her official website, the second is Sexy Briana, this site says it’s the first ever Briana Banks fan site and they have been around for like 6 years.  In fact the site does offer quite a bit of unique Briana Banks content so that link is very relevant.  Briana Banks Wikipedia listing is in the top listings.  That’s also pretty relevant for the search terms.  All in all if a person was to use Google to search for Briana Banks I think they would be pretty happy with the results.

Now let’s use the new search engine to also search for Briana Banks and see what we can come up with.  First listing is for her official website.  That’s good.  Someone searching for Briana Banks should find her official website first off.  The next few listings however leave a lot to be desired.  The next listing claims to have

Briana Banks photos, photo gallery, pictures, picture …

only when you click on the link you get almost nothing to do with Briana Banks but you do get served a lot of ads including three pop ups.  The next listing takes us to a page with nothing whatsoever to do with Briana Banks.  She’s not even listed once on the page.  Ok the next link surely is going to be something to do with Briana Banks, right?  I mean after all the title of the page is

briana banks videos, briana banks downloads, briana

That’s right, not one fucking video, photo or even mention of Briana Banks when we clicked the link.  What the fuck is wrong with this search engine?  Is this brilliant person really to stupid to know that relevancy is all that matters.  Who the fuck cares if that have billions of web pages indexed if none of the search results are relevant.

GREAT JOB YOU FUCKING MORONS

All I learned from my time at the new Cuil search engine is that Google doesn’t have a god damn thing to worry about with these people.  And also with all that capital, some estimate they’ve raised more than $200 million, why the fuck couldn’t they have come up with a better domain name?  Just guessing but with the stupid site currently sitting at cool.com, I’m betting they are in the market to sell that domain name for the right price.   So why the fuck pick one like Cuil.  People will have a hard time remembering that name, I promise.   In the corse of writing this story I had to look it up 6 times just to make sure I got it right.

Cuil you suck balls, big nasty hairy ones!

It seems that the film studio Red Light District is in search of the next hot thing.   And maybe that could be you.  Many big names got their start working in movies made by Red Light Distract including Bree Olson, Eva Angelina, and Roxy Deville, just to name a few.

First and foremost, you must be over 18 (obviously) and have a copy of your ID to prove it.  They are going to want a government issued ID such as a drivers license, state issued ID card for those who don’t drive, a certified copy of our birth certificate, or a passport.  These things are important, if you don’t have it, get it.  It will be needed time and time again.

Next you will want to include at least 3 or 4 photos.  One should be a head shot, one should be a full body shot (nude of course), and the other one or two will be up to you.  You can have your friend take them, they don’t have to be professionally done.  You will email them over to models@clubredlight.com.  What is a headshot?  Well it’s simly a photo showing your pretty face.  Here is a sample of a headshot of a former porn star who was in the business for a short time named Penelope Flowers.  As you see it’s just a photo of your face and on the other end of the scale, a “body shot” is simply a photo of your full body from head to toe.

Red Light District, one of the leading adult entertainment production studios, is looking for attractive new models with sexy bodies. Opportunities range from swimsuit and lingerie shoots to classic nude and adult films. Models are never required to do anything they aren’t comfortable with. This is a rare industry where new models can sometimes earn more money than experienced models. In some cases, models have made as much as $7,000.00 for a weekend of shooting. Travel and lodging can also be arranged for you.

If you are interested in doing something sexy, fun and exciting while earning a lot of money please either email us or mail us at least 3 pictures of yourself. All models must be over 18 years old. It is recommended that you send at least one face shot and at least 2 full body shots (one frontal and one from behind) to receive best consideration. Please also include your name, contact info., and birthdate.

Now before doing this I want you to think of this as a BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY.  Sure the girls have fun being porn stars but in the end it is a business and you should approach it as one.  Realistically, the smart girls make $30,000 a month easy.  So I want you to start off doing this right.  I want you to go into this with your name in mind.

Think of a name you like … a FIRST AND LAST NAME.   Pick something that is easy to spell.   Mandee is confusing.  Go with the normal, standard spellings of names like Mandy.  This is very important for marketing purposes.  You want a name that is easy to spell more than anything.

Now go to the IAFD and see if there is a porn star with that name already.  If somebody already is using that name pick another name.  Now go over to GoDaddy and see if the name you have chosen is available as a domain name.  YourFirstNameAndYourLastName.com.  If the name you have selected isn’t available as a .com then pick another name.  You want your chosen name as a domain name, TRUST ME.  Even if you don’t plan on doing anything right now with a website, secure your name up front, it will only cost you $10!

Now when you send in your photos and a copy of your ID to Red Light District you can include a short note telling them that you would like to use the stage name of <YOUR CHOSEN FIRST AND LAST NAME>.    This will show you have already given this a lot of thought and will no doubt make them think twice about you as you have taken it more serious than some of the other girls who will no doubt be applying.

The XM Merger is Now Complete

Google is reporting that the XM Satellite and Sirius merger is now complete.  Welcome in the all new Sirius XM Radio.

NEW YORK (AP) — XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio say they have completed their merger. The new company plans to change its name to Sirius XM Radio Inc. The combined company’s stock will continue to be traded on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol SIRI. The company says it now has more than 18.5 million subscribers. It expects cost savings from the deal of about $400 million in 2009.

This has been a long time coming.  The original merger was approved last Friday by the FCC but this deal has been in the making for more than a year.  The companies first applied for permission to combine in March 2007. The Justice Department approved the deal in March of this year without conditions, saying the companies don’t really compete because customers must buy equipment that is exclusive to either XM or Sirius, and subscribers rarely switch providers.

Those who are worried about the merge and the usability of their current equipment, don’t.  We are told that subscribers will not have to buy new radios to receive a mix of programming from both services, according to the companies. But if they want to pursue a special pay-per-channel a la carte option, they will need new sets. Sirius and XM also have promised to include a limited “a la carte” offering that would be available within three months of the close of the deal and allow listeners to pay only for the channels they want to receive.

What’s in a name?

I don’t normally watch TV during the day simply because there usually isn’t anything on and it’s proven to be more of a distraction but today I turned it on and with it on I was flipping the channel and heard someone say they named their daughter Shaneekwa.  This of course caught my attention.   Turns out the show on the Tyra Banks show today was about names and how people who give their kids stupid fucking names like Tyneka, Moneeka, Rayshalona or Diededra.

This was interesting that I would happen to see a show about names when this very subject would arrive in my email box today.  The other day I asked why Teagan Presley was no longer using her full name.  It annoyed me but not as much as people like August Night doing it.  Marketing wise, it just doesn’t make sense to do something like that as it’s much easier to market someone with a first and last name.  Teagan Presley however may be the rare exception to that simply because her first name is so extremely unique as it is.  She told me in her email that she a) owns her own name, full Teagan Presley and not anyone else.  She is on very good terms with Digital Playground and that she is the one who chose to rename herself based on how many other stars are now using the same last name.  She was trying to avoid any confusion.

It’s sort of like Beyonce.  Sure you know she has a last name but if you just say her first name you know who people are talking about just the same.  That isn’t really the case with most other first name actresses like Peaches or Princess.

Porn Stars tend to pick similar names for some reason.  For example there is Carly Parker, Charlie Parker and a Casey Parker. There is a Lacey Love of the Love Twins and a Lacey Luv.  Why the fuck would you do this?  This makes bad marketing sense.  If there is already a girl named Casey Parker, why name yourself Carly Parker?  And even worse if there is already a Devon, why the fuck would you name yourself Devon?  Here is a great example of this very issue.  There is Devon who is a former Vivid Girl and Penthouse Pet and star of movies like Club Devon, Commercial World or Devon Sent, who’s a hot little blonde who’s been in the business some 10 years now.   And then there is some new chick.  Well not “new”, as by the looks of her she’s about a full decade older than the real Devon and a brunette.  She’s in the movie Her First Lesbian Sex 13 and also Housewife Bangers 8 which includes a photo of her on the box cover and you can at least see that the Devon in this movie isn’t THE Devon.  However that is not the case in the other movies she is in and those fans of the real Devon looking to buy a new movie with their favorite porn star will get their hands on this and go WTF?  Where the fuck is Devon?  They might be a little pissed and then return it to where they bought it and then the vendor who sold it will be a little pissed that they have used product they can’t resell but had to fucking take it back because the box said one person starred in it but that person wasn’t in it.  In reality it was some nobody, brunette chick and not the famous porn star Devon.  So now they return it to their wholesaler who is really fucking not happy about this shit and it goes on and on. Now people are more and more hesitate to book girls with similar names because the people buying the movies are saying we won’t stock movies with <insert fake namer here> in it because it costs us to much money in restocks.  So now the girls are getting less and less work because of the issue of their name.  Sure some companies may book them but eventually it will become more of a problem.

So again, who’s really benefiting from this name issue?  The girls who may get less work?  Their managers or booking agents who now get less money because they can’t book them on as many jobs?  How to fix this? USE FUCKING LAST NAMES ALREADY.  JESUS FUCKING CHRIST HOW COMPLICATED IS THIS?

So back to Teagan.  You may remember from earlier she said she stopped using the name Teagan on her own because to many other pornstars were using it.   So how many porn stars really use the name Presley?  Well as it turns out, quite a few.  There is Dragana Presley, Francine Presley, Heather Presley, Jenna Presley (who besides Teagan seems to be most active), Mia Presley, Presley Maddox, Susan Presley, Teagan Presley, Texas Presley, Bob presley, Daisy Presley, Dale Presley, Franklin Presley, Presley Snait and Seth Presley,  That’s just insane.

I think it’s just crazy how many girls don’t stop and think when it comes to picking a name and even more insane that porno companies, booking agents, managers or PR reps don’t take the time out to teach these new girls what it takes to be a porn star and by that I mean the business side of things.  They should teach them about how to pick a good name, why it’s important to have a unique name, how to secure your name as a domain name before others do.

Sin City’s Porno Museum

Did you know that one of the oldest surviving adult films dates back to 1915?  It’s true!!  It’s called “A Free Ride” … well, at least according to an article I was reading today in the Las Vegas Review Journal.  This story says there is a soon to be a new museum in town and it will offer exhibits, films, sculptures, photos and erotic comic book collections, that all celebrate human sexuality.

In this museum of erotica then there are the 48 TV monitors on which are continuously broadcast selections from seven decades’ worth of adult films.

The museum is housed in a 24,000-square-foot building at Industrial and Desert Inn Road, next door to the Deja Vu Showgirls strip club. It includes a fine art gallery and museum store that sells posters, T-shirts, clocks and other memorabilia on which is imprinted erotic art.

The museum’s full name is Harry Mohney’s Erotic Heritage Museum.

Mohney, developer of the Deja Vu topless chain, donated the building and is listed as the museum’s “grand patron.”

The endeavor was the brainchild of Mohney and friend Ted McIlvenna, president of the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, and has been in the works for several years.

“It will be the finest erotic art museum in the world,” McIlvenna said. “It’s a melding of the best of our erotic heritage from the standpoint of art, from the standpoint of what was contributed through the adult industry.”

The museum is dedicated to “the belief that sexual pleasure and fun are natural aspects of the human experience, that such pleasure must be made available to all, and that our individual sexuality belongs to each of us,” according to its Web site, eroticheritagemuseum.com.

In that spirit, opening exhibits include quirky erotic drawings by Canadian artist Francois Dubeau, “performative videos” by Keith Murray, which are collectively titled “Trannylicious Dishez,” and photographs by Michael Grecco.

Grecco garnered attention recently for his coffee-table book, “Naked Ambition,” which featured photographs of adult film stars in mainly PG-rated shots.

Henkel also showed off a display of sculptures including distorted female forms by Oregon artist Todji Kurtzman.

The curator especially loves Kurtzman’s “hoop girl,” a sculpture of a woman in a large hoop skirt and not much else.

“I love that you can see up her skirt,” she said.

The museum includes life-sized replicas of an adult-movie set and a peepshow booth, both staffed by mannequins in various states of undress.

The majority of exhibits will rotate each six months.

“Sometimes, they’ll be tame,” Henkel said. “Other times, they’ll be too much. Some people will say, ‘I love that.’ Others will say, ‘It’s just disgusting.’ There will be things that will be very provoking but reflect who we are and were.”

Henkel has traveled far, including taking trips to Italy, England and China, searching for fun and interesting items for the museum.

She also has traveled near, to some of the institutes 25 warehouses full of collections donated by erotic art and memorabilia collectors.

It’s important to preserve such collections, said Jerry Zientara, a librarian for the institute who also teaches “erotology” — the study of the depiction of the acts of love and sex — because they’re part of our history.

“Erotic history is the same as any kind of history,” he said. “It’s just like art history, but the subject matter goes further. Because it’s sexual, a lot of people aren’t interested in preserving it. How often does someone’s uncle die and when the Playboys are found, they go to the Dumpster?”

Zientara is putting together the museum’s library, which is stocked with books such as “Forms of Passion,” the “International Who’s Who in Sexology” and a 1901 edition of “Studies of the Psychology of Sex.”

Plush red chairs are arranged around the room to encourage sitting and reading and looking.

Erotic art has always been around, Henkel said, and people have always enjoyed it.

“It’s a part of how we express ourselves, of who we are, whether we want to admit it or not.”

The museum is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. daily. Admission is $15 and only for those 18 or older. Locals will receive a 50 percent discount off admission with ID.
