Pornstar or Hooker? What is the difference?

I read something rather interesting today over at the Sponsor Chat boards, posted by the guy from over at The Adult News Channel. It’s actually a pretty interesting questions.

Escort or Pornstar?  Here’s a tricky question for you and one that I love to play with pornstars? Whats the difference between the two?

Ask any pornstar and she will immediatly get insulted and tell you she is not a hooker …she is an actress. Come back at her with this and you will see a deer stuck in the headlights look…

“So If I pay a hooker to read a scene from Goodfellas then fuck her is she now a pornstar?”

Facts are facts. I would say 80-90% of pornstars are hookers on the side. If they advertise it on Eros or work for an agency they are making cash on the side as an escort. Trust me on this. I owned an agency at one time and know every girl who works.

The funny thing is that they think somehow in that twisted mind of theirs that the word “hooker” is bad…but “escort” or “companion” is acceptable as if law enforcement is actually reading and hearing everything they say.

The definition is simple. An escort gets paid to escort someone and spend time with them. No sex is involved. A hooker gets paid to have sex. Thats the simple definition…in a simple mind.

Whats so scary about this is that 90% of the time these girls do not have any real security when meeting the guy. There is no real background checks except asking the guy his name, address and call back number. Do you really think Mitzy the receptionist is Einstein and does a full background check? Its a joke and these girls risk their lives on every call for $400+.

At least on set we have some security and a sex test is needed before performing. In real life you think these girls are asking for a test from the guys? No way Jose. They are there to get quick money and leave.

Prostitution should be legalized for one reason. There is no way anyone can stop it so why not control it. Get taxed and make it a real occupation. How nice would it be to fill out a form or what you do for a living and see “Escort” as an option? lol

Lets have Bill Clinton in charge of the Womens Satisfaction Agency. He knows what we want and who better to decide who should be hired. Although out of all the women in the world he could have got blown from he picked a chubby chick with a big mouth. Maybe hes not the best choice.

A girl who shall rename ..well nameless, puts out on her My Space page that she is visiting family in NY every time she hooks here. But yet advertises all over EROS that she is a hooker..in NY. Does she really think that her fans care? Will they look differently at her? Will they not want to bang her now or buy her movies?

You name any girl in porn and within minutes you can find out if shes able to be bought. You always here guys saying “man I would love to bang her”. I always say the same thing. “You have $500 I can make it happen”.

This is not like you are trying to fuck Tyra Banks ( and why you would want to I have no clue ). They are hookers. They are pornstars. They all fuck for money plain and simple and thats the bottom line. Spend $400 and you could fuck Tyra Banxxx all night like a rabbit. ( Yes thats a real name )

So here is the question….

Do you think there is a difference between Pornstars and Escorts?

  1. OK as I’ve said before, and I’ll say again, once you’ve excepted a paycheck to have sex, in front of or behind the camera, you are a prostitute, and that’s OK. There are all different levels and forms of prostitution, most people would be able to find a form to fit their fetish I would think.

  2. A pornstar seems to be proud and positive about their experience on film, then why would they feel negative if they are using their body to make money in other areas. Too bad the laws are so absurd in regard to sex.

  3. Ruby’s right- paycheck=hooker. I’ll also add that a lot of chicks are indirect hookers. I’ve known plenty of women willing to put out depending on how much a date spends on them.

  4. i wrote this joke a long time ago: what’s the difference between a hooker and a porn star? hookers are cheaper! (i wouldn’t pay $400 for 1 tryst with a hooker! maybe $100, but then only loni sanders or kari foxx. i’ve not priced hookers lately.)

i’d go even farther than blazingshark in saying that also most wives essentially trade sex for their income–it’s about the only one of the wifely duties that can’t be delegated or subcontracted (but frequently is).

but phooey on “security”–humans have been having sex for millennia and 99.9999999% of the time the participants survive the encounter. a hooker/pornstar doing a check on a customer is pretty ludicrous.

some men actually like chubby girls. president clinton played around with one but didn’t marry one.

  5. There’s an old joke here. A well dressed gentleman approaches a lovely young woman in a bar, sits down, and chats her up. A few drinks later, he takes out his checkbook, and says to her “I’ll give you a million dollars right now, if you’ll come to my room with me.” She blinks, catches her breath, and slowly, and deliberately says “Alright…” The gentleman says “alright, how about for fifty dollars?” Infuriated, she stammers “what do I look like, a prostitute??” The gentleman smiles and replies “we’ve already established that fact, all we’re doing now is negotiating the terms.”

The problem with the porn star verses prostitute debate, is that the majority of the time someone goes out of their way to make a point that porn stars *are* prostitutes, it’s because they have an agenda to dehumanize the actress in question, so they can justify their own misogyny and/or self-righteousness. Debating the difference between the terms prostitute, escort, and porn star is pointless semantics; a sex worker is a sex worker, but as we often seen (thank you blazingshark for illustrating it) lumping the group together as ‘just another whore’ only shows an individuals prejudices.

Many sex workers *are* ashamed of the work they do; I think this is the reason a number of women become escorts instead of porn stars; they earn a hefty check (potentially in the thousands for an evening) without having having to worry that their friends and family will learn. On the flip side, porn stars *do* have the benefit of STD tests, and a reasonable amount of leeway to refuse to work with certain actors, directors, or studios if they choose. Additionally, an escort isn’t obligated to build and sell an image of who she is for public consumption; no silly adult movie premiers, no conventions, no mandatory unpaid gosees where they’re poked and prodded. And for fifty dollars, she certainly has the opportunity to take advantage of a driver for security to boot.

Ultimately, an actress isn’t being paid for the sex; she’s being paid for her role in creating a product. An escort *also* isn’t being paid for sex; at it’s core, she’s being paid to provide a fantasy of an enthusiastic, sexual partner, to make her client feel like he’s more than just a schmuck with a few Benjiman’s to burn. I’d say it’s on par with a Fireman and a Cop; similar jobs that often cross paths, but ultimately different goals.

  6. very good points, stephan. how about the analogy of comparing painting a garage with painting a portrait? both are painters, but for different outcomes.
