Tipster: 8th-graders did sex acts in class

Police were notified Thursday after the anonymous caller told school officials that inappropriate acts had taken place the previous Monday at the school at 3221 Pecos St., according to a police report.

The report involves three boys and one girl who may have inappropriately touched one another and performed oral sex, Lt. Dean Sullivan, a police spokesman, said.

The acts appear to have been consensual, and the sub was not aware of the conduct, Sullivan said.

"It appears that the suspects involved arranged their desks in such a fashion as to attempt to conceal their activity from the view of the majority of the students and the teacher present in the room," Sullivan said.

Sullivan stressed that the information gathered by police is preliminary and said the evidence and statements will be forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor at the Tarrant County district attorney’s office for review.

The Fort Worth school district is also investigating, spokeswoman Barbara Griffith said.

"All appropriate steps have been taken," she said. "The district has been in communication with the parents of the students under investigation, as well as any students who may have been aware of the alleged incident."

The substitute teacher is cooperating, but further teaching assignments are on hold, Griffith said.
