A mother of five told Harvey police she was upset about the "rough sex" she had endured from her landlord and shot him in retaliation, authorities said.

Debraca A. Harris, 27, of 15726 Myrtle Ave. in Harvey, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the Monday morning shooting death of Tracy L. Jones.

A witness saw Harris walking away from an alley near 155th Street and Park Avenue in Harvey just before Jones was discovered shot in the head inside his 1995 Lincoln Town Car, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harris was accused of fatally shooting Tracy L. Jones, 36. Jones was found inside his 1995 Lincoln Town Car at about 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, in an alley near Park Avenue and 155th Street in Harvey, authorities said.

Harris confessed to shooting Jones, 36, of the 1000 block of East 101st Street — telling police about the affair between her and Jones, police spokeswoman Sandra Alvarado said.

Jones was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy determined Jones died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide, according to a report from the medical examiner’s office.

A source familiar with the case said investigators suspect the shooting was related to a dispute between Jones, a landlord, and one of his tenants. Jones, of the 1000 block of East 101st Street, owned residential property in Harvey, the source said. A Harvey police source said Jones had come to the police station earlier Monday to get eviction paperwork.

Harris lived in a Myrtle Avenue house owned by Jones with her boyfriend and five young children, Alvarado said. When asked why she killed Jones, Harris told detectives that she could think of no other way to resolve the situation, Alvarado said. "It was a love affair gone south," she said.
