BARTOW – A former Lakeland man who is accused of operating a Web site with sexually explicit images along with gruesome photographs of the Iraq war was jailed Friday when a judge determined he was continuing to run the site after his October arrest.

Chris Wilson, 27, who had moved to Orange County, faces 301 obscenity charges in connection with the operation of his Web site.

Prosecutors contended that the continued use of the site violated the conditions of Wilson’s release and filed a motion to revoke his $151,000 bail, said Chip Thullbery, spokesman for the state attorney’s office.

Circuit Judge J. Dale Durrance agreed during a hearing Friday, and Wilson was arrested.

Wilson is being held in the Polk County Jail without bail, Thullbery said.

The Web site now does not contain sexually explicit images.

It says that they were removed because of the threat of jail from Polk authorities.

Wilson became a key figure in a controversy that reached the Pentagon after U.S. military officials became aware of his site and its grisly Iraq war photographs.

However, it was the sexual images and videos that led to Wilson’s legal problems.
