http://www.wate.com/  KNOXVILLE (WATE) — Pornography is becoming a serious issue for many marriages. And the problem is growing at an alarming rate.

To make matters worse, even when men want to fight the problem, the temptations are always present.

For example, a Google Internet search to find sites related to pornography addiction reveals more temptations with links to hard core sites on the screen.

As a result, many churches are taking on the problem.

"It comes to the surface a lot, young guys that feel free to talk about it," said Sevier Heights Baptist Church senior pastor Hollie Miller. "A lot of young men are very much saying ‘I need help, I’m struggling with it. I need help.’"

Because of the ever expanding use of the Internet, pornography is one of the fastest growing industries in the nation. But it’s taking its toll on families.

The consequences are disastrous for wives and families.

"It’s overwhelming," Pastor Miller said. "Guys get hooked. I mean, they really get hooked on porn, just like on drugs or something like that."

Pastor Miller has delivered sermons on the dangers of porn and counseled men looking for help.

"Churches are trying to do anything they can to try and find the resources to help people, because it’s destroying homes and marriages and lives," he said. "Churches are, I think, very much aware of the depth of the problem now."

To make matters worse, when husbands get hooked on pornography, their wives often feel it’s their fault.

"It’s so degrading to women," Miller said. "From what I’ve understood, when a wife discovers that her husband is involved in pornography, it really just wipes out her self esteem. I mean, she says, ‘Well I’m not good enough,’ you know, ‘I’m not pretty enough.’ It’s very destructive, emotionally."

The problem won’t go away until addicts take the first critical step.

Many churches suggest counseling or small discussion groups to tackle the problem. For those who don’t want a religious approach, marriage counseling is another possible solution.

In the meantime, the problem continues to spread. On Wednesday, Great Britain aired its first documentary ever on sexual addiction.
